I got a check up with Dr. Lucy and then returned for a cleaning with the hygienist. When you enter through the double doors you'll find the waiting area and the reception desk with the three admins. There's a tv in one section of the waiting room and one in each of the rooms that I've been in for work. They took special care to find out if I was comfortable or had any anxiety about visiting the dentist. There is lots of free parking given that it's located in a large strip mall and it's across the street from the Dartmouth bus terminal for those taking transit. If you're looking for a new dental clinic, I definitely recommend this one. To note though, you'll need to go in for a special new patient appointment before they'll do any work on your teeth, so don't wait for a cavity!

Anyway, I called the office and it was about 10AM here so about 1PM there I suppose; and the phone continued to ring and ring. I hung up, and later tried again. This time I let it ring for quite a while thinking perhaps an answering machine would kick in. Instead, the reception picked up the phone and without hearing a word from me, asked me to hold. No problem I said. So; I continued to wait for about 5 minutes, then suddenly the phone slammed down on my ear. I then called back and asked the receptionist why the phone was slammed down, and she said that she was busy. OKAY.....I said. I went on to mention the nature of my call, and she assured me that she would relay the message. I waited 3 days and no return of the message. I also sent emails. Still nothing. Sent them back an email in return stating that I"m glad I"m not a patient of theirs . That they can keep that type of practice is Dartmouth Nova Scotia where it belongs! Not nice people in my opinion.

I was given to Dr. Murphy to do the work because I use Nitrous Oxide. Having the dental work gives me major anxiety and I made that clear to them. After the first procedure, I went back and explained how my tooth was still on fire. I had throught it was full of stitches or something. Dr. Ryan said no work had been done. I found that strange as that was the only place I had ever felt constant pain, and the reason I Went for the treatment in the first place. Dr. Murphy wanted to do things in segmants, so I came back to do fillings etc. Again I told him, I was in pain. He quite bluntly told me " If there is a problem in the future, we will address it then!" I knew I couldnt bring it up anymore without making him more upset. As time went on the pain got worse. My face began to swell. I had already spent my money with Bridgeview, so I went to Dal and asked if someone could look at my tooth as I was in such pain. They put me on a list. Then Covide hit. During Covid19, I wrote to Dr. Helpin, asking for help. I couldn't bear the pain. He suggested antibiotics, but I reminded him he had clearly told me before that my situation was too late for them, and that was why he had to pull some out. During this time, I went on anti anxiety meds. The only prescription I have had to go on or am on now. I cried daily and couldn't figure why they kept ignoring my same tooth. I called the office when things re-opened, and got in. Dr. Murphy did one xray on the painful tooth, which was now hugely swollen inside and out, and said " So, you aren't crazy, there is a problem". " He then goes on to say how Dr. Helpin may want to change his mind, and pull all my upper teeth out, but this time put me into a hospital to do it. After doing all the work to save them. I couldn't believe it. One minute the clinic was calling me to get my partial denture plan, and then suddenly I am starting over? All my pain, all my stress, all the times I begged for help, and I was correct all along? I got booked into see Dr. Helpin. I suffered through a two week, anxiety filled two weeks, only to get a call from the office. It was a holiday on that week that my apointment fell on. It was going to be postponed again. I cried all night. When I finally saw Dr. Helpin, he didn't seem to have a clue who I was. He said, "I can understand why you want to get all your teeth pulled out". I was in shock. I looked at him speechless. He then said "Well, Helen, what did you want me to do for you?" I told him, my face is so sore I can't touch it. He said "yes, I can see the swelling from here" I reminded him of what he has originally said and then when I mentioned my jaw, which dislocates, he looked shock and said "I need to look at your records and get a complete new work up. I will get you back in. I realized he hadn't prepped for me at all, nor did he know who l was. I begged him to do something now. Xrays. Anything. He just kept saying, "no, can't help you today" The next appointment given to me was for August 24. A month and half away. I told them I may be dead by then. I hadn't been able to eat solid food since they did the work and changed my bridge. Both dentists Knew, that after the work done at the clinic, I couldn't close my mouth without the dentures in, because my mouth now locked shut from the missing teeth. I couldn't eat anything. I was living on boost. I couldn't believe the lack of compassion, the wasted money and time, and the months of unnecessary pain. You are supposed to be in the helping profession, not taking money without helping, neglect and zero caring about the result. After that I left the clinic, l decided to find a caring dentist. I googled "female dentists" and found Bedford South Dental Clinic. I sent a Face Book Messages to them saying, I Know you have many patients, but I am in pain, and my dentist won't help me. They said " we will make it work if you are in pain" They got me in within a few days. By the time I left, I had an appointment for a root canal specialist, who got me in within 9 days. She was painless and amazing. The swelling started going down and the pain was gone. They also got me a referral for my dislocating jaw and Some coverage will be provided for any hospital care. Nothing was done for it at your clinic. It was forgotten. They fixed the denture l already paid you to do. For free. All this was done before your clinic could even get me in for x rays on August 24th. I work in a barbershop in your area. I have gone from saying how happy I was to find a dentist, to how much pain I was left in. I am a very vocal person. At this point, I feel that I was put through an amazing amout of pain for no reason. My care was sub standard. I would have gotten the same care in China, but at a much cheaper price.

I was new to Halifax in 2014, and prior to moving here I had always gone to the same dentist. I was…read morenervous to start going to a new dentist however, I am now very glad I had chosen Lawen Dentistry. Dr. Lawen is an incredible dentist and is significantly better then the previous one I had been going to. To start, the office is very clean, the receptionist are always very kind, there is free bottled orange juice, apple juice, water and coffee to have while in the waiting room. The maximum time I've ever waited in the waiting room was 15 minutes (ie. my appointment was at 3:30 and we began at 3:45). The dental hygienist did a great job of my first cleaning, and even gave me a tooth brush and toothpaste to take home. Every time Dr. Lawen has done my fillings it's been quick and painless. He always makes sure you are pleased with the end result and encourages you to come back if the "bite" doesn't feel right to you and he will adjust it. At my first appointment with Dr. Lawen he asked me if there was anything I didnt like about my teeth, and I mentioned a small discolouration on my front tooth. So, I had gotten a teeth whitening package to use in the evening. The whitening really hurt my teeth as they are very sensitive however, I didnt want to pay the price to try something else so I decided to just give up. But, at my next appointment when I had told this to Dr. Lawen about my trouble whitening, he gave me a new package to whiten my teeth during the day for only 20 minutes (because it causes less sensitivity issues) for free! My front tooth is now the perfect white after the whitening and Dr. Lawen filling in the discolouration spot with a filling. Its an amazing difference. I think Dr. Lawen truly cares about his patients, he always informs me of cost of anything, he does everything quickly and efficiently and he always makes sure I'm happy with results. Highly recommended!

Dr. Lawen, himself, has not only conducted himself professionally at all times, but he exudes a warmth and compassion that should be standard at all dental offices. Lori has been my hygienist for longer than I can recall, and while there are other well-trained and highly competent hygienists working alongside her, I would never consider losing her in that capacity. I had two new crowns installed a year ago, and the procedure went flawlessly. I am scheduled for another next month. No reservations or concerns on my part because there is no downside to it.

I've always had the same dentist, and it's definitely a good way to do it. First of all, I should say that they recently renovated and for a waiting room, their waiting room is quite nice. I never have to spend much time in there, either. If I have an appointment at 11:30, I almost always get in by 11:40. This is one of the best things, I think, a health office can offer. Short waiting times. So, on to the actual treatment. They're a dentist. They do the horrible scrape-y bit, they polish your teeth, floss, and give you some nasty fluoride to stick in your mouth for a while. None of it is very fun. There's no way around that, so I'm not gonna complain about it. However, they are very thorough and keep up a constant stream of patter. Plus, they don't ask you questions while their hands are in their mouths; that can be very annoying. They're also very good for getting things done. Today I needed two teeth capped, they did it right after my cleaning. That is awesome. So, the people are friendly. They ask how I'm doing, what I've been up to. They remember me. The dentistry itself is good, they notice when things are wrong and offer good advice (more than just the token 'Floss more!'), and help you stay healthy. Plus, they have really groovy sunglasses to protect your eyes from the lights. What more could you want?

I did it purely because it was closer to my house, and came to deeply regret that decision. Dr Carr was happy to take me back and was able to help me with a potentially serious problem that the dentist at the other clinic missed. I also get my routine cleanings and check ups done here. The hygienists are great and I've never had a complaint about their work. Like most dental clinics, they will do direct billing to most insurance companies if you have coverage and bring your card with you.

I hate the Dentist…read more Most of us do That being said, I've never had any problems with my Dentist, or hygienists. They remember me, and are always up for small talk, sometimes hard to do since i have my mouth full. Very clean, very organized. The normal cleanings are fairly quick, and i am always told I need to floss more. I always leave with some floss and a toothbrush. I can't say it doesn't hurt from time to time, especially that damn drill! But I can't imagine any dentist not hurting from time to time. If you are in need of a dentist, i recommend anyone here!

It's a family atmosphere, and the receptionists, dental technicians along with Dr. Arsenault, all take the time to get to know you and assist you whatever your needs may be. From ex-rays to cleanings, to retainers and referrals - I've run the gamut when it comes to dental services. Based on my personal experiences, I can easily recommend this office and its staff as a comfortable place to go and have your chompers looked after. They even have TVs in the ceiling, so if you're a nervous patient you can distract yourself with a program of your choosing!

I have also witnessed some actions take place with the girls at the check-in/payment desk that certainly led me to believe that profits are not their only concern, it may not even be their main concern :-) Seriously though, Mike is great with the kids!! Ssoooo much better than their last dentist that it makes going there a joy. And you don't often get to say that about going to a dentist.
