I wanted to have a ready-to-wear/off-the-rack suit jacket's sleeves and pants shortened and needed them back within a week. She works out of her apartment and was finished within 2 days, and updated me via text message when the work was actually done. $25 for the sleeves (taken up from hem) + $15 for the pants = $40 total (according to blog posts I've read, these prices seem average). PAYMENT: (prefers) cash in advance - I had time so I ran to the bank and was back within 10 minutes, but when I initially offered to run to the bank right then, she told me "only if you have time" and seemed flexible. The jacket alone was $35, which is more than I paid for it on sale at Nordstrom. (I've had it cleaned twice in the past, each time it was about $15, for comparison.) I'm somewhat convinced they didn't clean one of the shirts, as it came out smelling worse than before, and I had to have it cleaned elsewhere immediately after. (Better luck the second time.) Close to my house and convenient, though I'm not sure I'd go again. Particularly not with the jacket.

That said, this is one business that I will never be back to. I have spent over 1200.00 in the last year with Johnston Cleaners. But as of today I am done. Last week when I picked up my cloths the young lady that works there part time charged me for something that was not done. She said it would be done the next day. When I went in the next day the Owner (him) said that they couldn't repair the item. I then asked what about the money that I was charged he said that I never paid any extra. I asked him to look it up and he said he would later. I went back in today to get some other stuff and asked him again. He said that I never paid. Very politely I said I did and asked if he would look. He said he did and that was that. I then told him that I was sure and asked where the young lady was. At that point he went off on my. He told me to "F" off and go "F" myself many times. I was blown away. I was so shocked that all I could say at the time was "WOW" he then told me to "GO F... YOUR WOW" He did all this in front of another customer wow was also blown away. I have never had an owner come close to doing that in front of me to anyone. And this was all over 20 bucks. He did all this when I simply asked him to ask his employee. I had been warned several years ago about him from someone but I was already going there and hadn't had a problem. The customer that witnessed this cal out to the parking lot after and said he was done as well. I would recommend that NO ONE do business with this man. I believe that had I not just kept my month shut and left that he might have got physical with me. He was that quick and aggressive with his temper. Be aware, this man is unstable.

Walked in, they still didn't have it. They argued with me about compensation for losing the item. In the end I received less than %8 of the cost. The store is dirty in the entry. They are disorganized and if you go- go at your own risk. You would be better off to take your item to the Willamette River and scrub it on a rock. I would give zero stars if it was an option.
