I was traveling to New England and after a 9-hour drive, I knew I could use a session. I had found…read moreEmily online before coming to the area and walked in on a Friday afternoon. I go regularly at home in Baltimore to a community acupuncture clinic, and I have to say that I really wish Portsmouth Community Acupuncture was in MY city instead! It was a fantastic experience. Since probably a lot of you have never tried acupuncture, here's how the whole thing went: I filled out extensive forms detailing my health history and complaints -- for me, my biggest concerns are/were depression and anxiety, migraines, and a sprained ankle. Emily sat with me to discuss all of these in detail before the session and asked lots of questions, then we went into the poking room. The space is beautiful and relaxing -- a vaulted ceiling, open space, recliners arranged in a large circle. They tip all the way back. Emily took pulses, swabbed the points of insertion and proceeded to stick me with LOTS of needles -- many more than I'm used to (the more, the better!). I was covered with blankets and left for about an hour, but I had a buzzer in case I needed her. When the needles were removed, I felt fantastic as I usually do when done. I would highly, highly recommend this place to anyone considering acupuncture. It's a very peaceful experience (one woman in the room was conked out and snoring) and can really help with a variety of conditions. Emily is attentive, genuine, and listens well to your concerns. Two pieces of advice: First, make an appointment! She does take walk-ins but the practice is very busy, at least in summer, and you may end up waiting awhile if you just show up as I did. And to get in, you go through the door that looks private next to the running store, and take the elevator up to the 4th floor.

Highly recommended! I always leave feeling better than I did when I walked in the door. Not only is…read moreEmily amazing at what she does but she is also very kind, gentle, and has a healing presence. Very affordable as well!

During my first appointment, I was very nervous and she greeted me with kindness, warmth, and an open heart. She thoroughly listened to me, made me feel relaxed, and came up with a straightforward, clear plan to helping me heal. I deeply appreciate her unparalleled "no nonsense" approach, graciousness and sense of humor. Thank you Katherine for all you do for the world!!

Katherine is very professional and comforting. She asked some basic questions like how did you hear about Rhythms, what problems am I experiencing, have I tried acupuncture before. She explained that I would receive some information via email and that I should fill it out prior to the first visit. This step really saves time because I didn't feel rushed to answer the questions. Initial consultation was approx an 1:15 and very thorough. I had no idea of how chineese medicine worked or how it could help me but after that first hour I definitely knew this was a different approach to healing and well being. Rhythms center for woman is about bridging the gap between chineese and western medicine. The table experience did not hurt at all. In fact, as the needles (tiny) were being placed I had to ask if there was really a needle there. I am simply amazed at how smooth the treatment went. Alittle aprehensive at first but now a believer. My neck pain is dimished immensely, headache free for several days following treatment. I do understand and you should also that this is not a miracle cure but rather a treatment and the beginning to a better way to living a healthier life style. I highly recommend Rhythms to anyone who is thinking about acupuncture. I do want to add that the location was easy to find, I paid by credit card and left the center feeling very positive. Woman of all ages would feel welcome.

I believe he has the intuition and sensitivity it takes to tune into a paerson' constitution, temperament, metabolism and more. His consultation is brief. His charge is affordable even for people with limited finances. ?It is a very good investment in one's health to use herbs even as preventative, like tune-ups, so one does not become ill. The herbs Dr Wong prescribes, and need to be cooked at home in a non-corroding ceramic or enamel pot, are inexpensive, effective and have no side effects, unlike Western alopathic pharmaceuticals covered by insurances.
