Each time I was told "we'll get maintenance" to put the bed rails on. The rails were never put on her bed. I got a call at 3am saying they found my mom in the hallway and they were calling the ambulance. My mom has a fractured hip as a result of their negligence and she needs surgery as a result. My mom was there to recover and get stronger so that she could come home. Instead she left there sicker (she also left the Laurels with pneumonia and RSV) and injured so badly that surgery is required. This is a nursing facility, supposably with trained professionals. BASIC SAFETY should be a given and family shouldn't have to repeatedly remind them to do their job and to keep their patients safe!!!

If you are conscious & know what day of the week it is, you do not belong here as a patient. Luckily, I was able to escape after one evening of living hell. If you do not plan on leaving here in a body bag, you do not belong here. Quite contrary to their website, this nursing home is not an environment for short-term rehab following a surgical procedure or hospital stay. I REPEAT: this nursing home is NOT an environment for short-term rehab following a surgical procedure or hospital stay. This is a home for end-of-life care or those needing long-term care such as patients with dementia or memory issues. I had the displeasure of an approximately 18 hour stay here post-ankle surgery in August. Unfortunately, this was my choice due to the erroneous Marketing on their website. Please do not make the same mistake that I did. I was in need of short-term institutionalized nursing care due to being non-weightbearing for 12 weeks post-op ankle fusion & foot reconstruction. My mother had planned to be with me during the first few weeks but suddenly was unable to come to Ohio to care for me due to an injury herself. My insurance company and the hospital offered this as a possibility along with other local facilities for me before transitioning to caring for myself. I did my due diligence and took a look at The Laurels' ratings on https://www.medicare.gov/nursinghomecompare & chose this location being central to those who would be visiting me during my stay. The Laurels of Worthington receives decent marks from Medicare, but as stated before, this institution markets itself as several types of care facilities under one roof. In fact, as I sadly discovered, it's only good at maintaining the lives of comatose individuals. I was placed in a room with a women who complained of respiratory symptoms, believing she had pneumonia. What a great match for someone just out of surgery! There were no safety bars in my bathroom. Thankfully I was able to maneuver on and off my knee scooter with a towel bar. I was literally a ghost at this facility for the time I spent there. Seeing my roommate receive unsolicited help, I wondered why I had to call for meds and wait sometimes up to an hour for someone to come. She was automatically changed for bed in the evening and cleaned & dressed in the morning. No one came for me. They didn't even bring me dinner or breakfast until I spoke up to a staff member taking my roommates empty tray away. This is why I was here--I needed help--and quickly realized I'd be better off on my own at home. This facility reeks of excrement, televisions are on 24/7 blaring FOX News and several of the patients spent the evening roaming the halls groaning & screaming. Again, this is a facility for dementia patients and should not be advertised as a rehabilitation center. They're barely keeping people alive here. I was afraid I'd be in for worse than I was if I stayed. Another thing that needs to be said, contrary to their website, there is no doctor on-site or apparently even on-call. During my brief stay my prescriptions that accompanied me from the hospital were filled in their pharmacy, yet when I decided to leave the next day I was unable to take the prescription or medication with me and was told the facility's "Medical Director" would write the remainder of my meds for me on Monday when he was in. This was a lie on behalf of Jason & his nursing staff. I left their facility knowing I'd have to be approximately 72 hours without pain medications after an ankle fusion and foot reconstruction surgery, but as stated before, the fear and stress of being at The Laurels produced adrenaline in me that gave me the willingness to deal with the pain rather than stay. When I called on Monday when "the doctor was in," I was now told by Jason that since it was my decision to leave, I was not entitled to the remainder of my prescriptions. Horseshit. Thankfully, my orthopedic surgeon's PA was able to help me get what I needed and is now aware of the situation at The Laurels. Abby, the "Marketing Director," gave me her business card upon admission and told me I could call for whatever reason. I've called her and left her messages that I'd like to speak with her. No response. Zero stars. Please don't go here.

My mom lived here for almost a year…read more She moved here from a private residence. We needed a spot immediately, and I feel the price reflected that need, it was very expensive, maybe unfairly so. I feel they put her in a price point higher and had assessed more care than what she truly needed, and getting that downgraded was more difficult than it needed to be. I feel part of the reason for this was some the forum was in the transition of new ownership which makes things bumpy. When she first arrived was the forum at Knightsbridge and when she left, it was the estates at Knightsbridge? To be honest, I'm not sure what the name of the place actually evolved into everybody still calls at the forum. I have since moved her out of the facility I can say that when she was in their care, her experience was good. She never was treated roughly or had any incidences that I needed to be aware of. The food seems to have gone downhill and I do not like that the assisted living across the street where she lived is not as nice of the public spaces as it is across the street for the independent care that is my biggest ripe of this place the people who need more care and pay higher cost have a lesser aesthetic in their common space and that did irritate me. I'll be up. It irritated me more than my mom. We moved her to a different company/facility not because of care or quality of care but more due to location. I do like that the forum has memory care and skilled nursing. It was a nice place for my mom, but I would explore pricing of other places when you're looking at this place, this place is good but also is expensive comparatively.

We also switched to a facility in Upper Arlington for a 6 or 7 month period during that time. The people at The Forum cared for my Mom in so many ways. They went from being friends to being caretakers during her transition. I could not recommend The Forum highly enough for how they took care of Mom. We moved Mom to the facility in Upper Arlington after she broke her hip. Great physical therapy team and great facilities. But the one thing they lacked was humanity. They didn't care about Mom, just the checks my sisters and I were writing. Back to The Forum. Not the gold standard for facilities, but certainly good enough and they are upgrading constantly, but more than the Gold Standard for the assistance we received and the help from the entire staff. Mom passed a couple of weeks ago. The nurses and hospice people that took care of Mom were in tears. Genuinely. Love this place and you'll be blessed if a family member has to be there.

I arrived about 445?? pm, was almost an hour before I was even acknowledged in the room. Then it was mostly administrative, no nursing care etc. It was almost 11 pm before I got my evening meds. The room was old and Musty and triggered my asthma cough for 16 days. I asked about any kind of air purifier, they had nothing in their stock and would do nothing to accommodate my concerns. The floor was under construction adding to the chaos of getting patients to and from the dining hall. Food and Physical therapy department were the only positive sides of the facility. I could tell the aids for the permanent residents were very caring and respectful. I had days I never saw my CNA. From a business standpoint I see Wesley Glenn as a high end Independent living / assisted living facility. The skilled nursing floor was added as a way to keep their residents in house during rehab from age related issues, stroke, falls and breaks etc. I got the minimal care I was there for, my IV infusion 3x a day but that was about it. I felt as if I was a transient patient on Medicare. I sent in a letter with my concerns, never expecting any response and I was right. Not even an acknowledgement form letter.

A Five-Star Haven for Mom (and Peace of Mind for Me!)…read more After interviewing 9 assisted living facilities across Columbus this past March, I did what any thorough first born son would do: I created a spreadsheet, took notes, captured all the move in and monthly costs, and probably annoyed more than a few executive directors with my questions. But the moment I stepped into The Inn at Bear Trail, I knew I'd found "the one." And I'm not just saying that because it smelled like fresh flowers and good decisions--though it absolutely did - even the Memory Care unit! (trust me that's a key clue that they are on top of things). What sealed the deal? The staff. These folks are the real deal - Starting with Mike Harvey who runs a tight ship over there and is super attentive via text or voice at all times. His aids and nurses are professional, warm, and genuinely there when you need them. They move through the halls like a well-choreographed dance team, always available, always positive, and always one step ahead of what my mom needs next. They're proactive about her care, catching details I'd miss and implementing solutions before problems even arise. It also did not hurt that they were the most affordable option out of all the other AL places I toured in the Columbus area. My mom is thriving, and honestly, so am I. Knowing she's in such capable, compassionate hands? Priceless. If you're searching for the best care for your Mom or Dad and you want them in the Columbus area stop searching. You've found it. Highly Recommended. No spreadsheet required.

If a meal is missed, there are no adequate alternatives provided--sometimes only broth and crackers are offered. Services that are supposed to be included in the monthly fee, such as weekly cleaning and laundry, were not consistently completed without repeated reminders. It often required ongoing follow-up with staff to ensure these basic services were performed. There have also been concerning issues with care. On one occasion, a nurse attempted to administer an excessive amount of medication to my parent, which raised serious safety concerns. Additionally, the facility manager has not been particularly approachable or helpful when addressing issues. Billing has also been problematic. The most recent statement included additional charges we felt were not owed, requiring us to escalate the matter to corporate. To their credit, the corporate office was responsive, professional, and understanding of the concerns raised--many of which extend beyond what is outlined here. If issues arise, I would recommend contacting the corporate office directly at 740-345-3700 under Jerry McClain Companies
