I am so thankful to Kelly for helping me save a tiny bird!…read more Somehow a little bird got stuck on a rat glue board that was in my garage. I didn't see it until 4+ hours later. I was panicking and didn't know what to do! Called San Ramon PD, Animal control, some wildlife rescues, 6-7 vets but no one was able to help me. I poured a lot of oil over the bird and was able to get his feet free, but I was too scared to do anything more. My SIL then left a message for Ohlone Humane Society. Kelly called her back right away and informed her that they will close in the next few minutes, but I can bring the bird to her house. Took me 30 min to go from SR to Fremont - kept checking on the bird to make sure he was alive! Kelly was able to remove the bird from the trap in just about a minute. The bird was ready to fly away but Kelly said she will keep him for 2-3 weeks or until he grows his feather back and then release him. I am soo glad Kelly called us back right away; she was his only hope. Thank you Kelly for going out of your way to save the little guy!

I can trap and do it myself there are 2 feral cats tipped ear and an older kitten out here being physically abused by a neighbor here . Kitten I may be able to get without trap. The 2 others no. I have placement for all of them and I am their feeder and I'm moving.

Shakira is amazing, Heather has more compassion and understanding then most. Kelly is just an awesome and understanding human being.... please remember for those who are reading this SAVE is not a miracle worker you have to do work yourself and want it you have to be away from your abuser and want it. Save will always help you with resources applications and do the best that they can I for one who wish to remain anonymous he was helped out and helped into a transitional so for the people who talked badly about save I think the problem is there's not saves. There are many many many lives that does save has helped and some of us like me have ended up in another domestic violence situation and still save is there they do not discriminate they do not talk badly about and they do not look down upon they are women whom I cannot say for certain but believe they've been where we've been and walked in our shoes so for those who don't know save if you need help reach out they will help you.

Save became my family, they literally saved my life ,seriously my life has changed so much I can't even believe it myself, when I came to Save I was at a point were I just wanted to just die I was super suicidal, thinking in my head over and over how I would end my life, no job, I just wanted to die under a rock, just in the worst shape possible. Two powerful things the save woman did and When I say these woman I mean 3 beautiful ladies, I can't say much about the others because in all honesty , maybe because I did not have any interaction with the other workers from Save, but at the shelter there are 3 beautiful ladies that saved my life, Shakila, Kelly and Heather they became my family ,my friends, my role models. I think 2 things these beautiful ladies did , they believed in me, when I did not believe in my self ,they did not judge me, these girls never gave up on me , I love them dearly! ,actually I really wished that we could duplicate these 3 beautiful ladies and place them in all of these shelters and places were people need help ,the world would be a better place!! I love my Save family will support them always!!!

Adj: natural educational and discovery place of learning…read more Very close to the Hayward Rose Garden. We came here after we had visited the rose garden and wanted to see if this is a good place to recommend to others with kids. It's a great, smaller, but still very cool nature center. Lots of rescued animals, mostly birds, to include corvids, eagles, owls, hawks, song birds, and vultures. There's are some reptiles outdoors too, but most of them are in the "house" that's also part of this nature center. I actually found the indoors section more fascinating as there were so many kinds of reptiles and bugs in there, but the outdoors cages where the birds live are also interesting, although some of the birds are so big and kind of intimidating looking to me, maybe I'm just not really into big birds. Overall, a very cool place to visit, it's free, open regularly (check hours before going though), and a great educational experience for children, so an excellent nature center to bring kids to for seeing the rehabilitation and daily lives of animals and other creatures in action.

A small, but interesting nature center in Hayward, CA, similar to the Lindsay Wildlife Experience…read morein Walnut Creek, but this one is quite a bit smaller and more "wild" in that it's basically all outdoors. The animals we saw that were rescued, rehabilitated, and now permanently residing here were mostly birds, with some reptiles and bugs thrown in. We actually didn't interact with any staff while we were here in the early afternoon, but we did see a couple of them working. It's more of a self-tour type of place it seems, rather than a guided tour experience, so we just walked around and looked at the different kinds of animals. We saw several hawks, a few owls, some ducks and chickens, and then we went into this building the size of a small house which houses the reptiles and bugs. We saw snakes, lizards, and a few bugs. My kids got a kick out of seeing all the wild animals. It's also nice that they take in injured wild animals and rehabilitate them so they can live out their lives there or maybe they go to other nature centers or zoos if the opportunities come up, rather than end up not surviving in the wild. All in all, this nature center was pretty cool for a casual short visit and it's free so the price was right, a good way to spend some time in the "wilderness."

Each time I popped in to consider having a look the immediate reaction of staff is to rudely ask, "Did you get on the list". Sounds harmless but it was the way in which she asked. That was the 2nd time. The first time I went in the kid said, "Are you gonna pay to get in?" Was my first time so I didn't know how it worked. I asked the prices and stood for a split second to consider it. He rudely says, "You can't wait here". Like give me a second you obviously. The staff just act like unsocialized weirdos... No reason to mention there was also NEVER a simple greeting. The 1st kid was a short Indian boy and the 2nd kid was a short Asian girl. These people need to be fired. It's less tolerable to me as someone who had to bust their ass in customer service since I was their age. It's not that hard to make people feel welcome. Especially when they are wanting to feel inclined to bring a cat to a new home. Stop hiring entitled brats that don't respect the hustle. Absolutely terribly vibes. How many more staff reviews do you want to get?

It looked like one was orienting another person and complaining about someone being strict. So I said hello loudly to another worker who was walking to the front. She didn't stop, just answered my questions as she kept walking, just saying drop off is closed. I was interested in asking about HOW to do the drop off, but she wasn't actually listening to me. It's like as if noise was coming out of me and she assumed I was still asking about the hours. By not stopping, she doesn't really care I'm asking or looking for help. She's busy doing her job and I'm getting in the way of it. Except I think answering questions is part of her job, but I'm not so sure. The other workers didn't acknowledge me and continued to say unkind things about a coworker which is unprofessional. It was also only 2pm and they already stopped taking donations. The Goodwill was open later for taking donations or you could drop off yourself if the door was open. In my mind, I thought to myself, "Beggars can't be choosers...but I'm not a beggar. " So we drove all the way to good ol' St Vincent's which was a much better experience and definitely worth the time and gas.
