I endured this, however. I completed my studies at Carrington and went on to deal with a very difficult externship. I was so excited to graduate and walk across the stage. When that day came, I found myself in the hospital after a horrible accident. I reached out to the staff at Carrington and asked them if I could please be given the opportunity to participate in a later graduation ceremony, so I could still walk across the stage and celebrate all the hard work I had put in and endured. I was told that I would hear from Kathy Bailey about participating in the next graduation ceremony. I never heard from her. It has been 10 months. Ive already accepted the fact that I will not be getting a graduation. The robes that I purchased with my own hard earned money are collecting dust and will never be worn. This is my own experience at carrington. I strongly encourage any student seeking to further their education to look elsewhere. Don't waste your time and your energy.

Upon completion of my Associates degree, I enrolled in the BA program. Unfortunately, I had to withdraw due to moving abroad with the military and my educators unwilling to accommodate the time zones. Years later, I returned to Tucson with a renewed sense of purpose in healthcare and of course, as an alumni, chose PMI for their Nursing program. I was disappointed at how unprofessional the institution had become. I was disappointed to learn the credits I earned from my MAA and HCA degree would not be honored in any capacity towards the Nursing program. Still determined, I attended the Kaplan test review. I missed by 1 A&P question. Went back and passed! Except all of a sudden, I didn't? I received two different printed results from my test. One with a passing grade, another with an unsatisfactory one. I requested the discrepancy be reviewed because how is it possible to have a passing and failing score? The response from a young lady, who did not serve as the testing coordinator, was not equipped to provide any guidance. "That's weird. Must have been a glitch in the system. Oh well. You can retest in 6 months" she casually retorted. As if Nursing school was some decision made lightly. Feeling defeated and frustrated, I followed up with an advisor who could not explain the error. I asked if I could retest to confirm my passing grade but was rejected and told to come back in 6 months where I could expect to pay again to retake the Kaplan. As a returning Alumni, I had hoped for a more positive response with PMI. After seeing the reviews since I graduated, there is a clear and evident decline in how this institution operates now. I can only assume the "glitch in the system" was a warning of what I could expect by continuing my education here. ** Of note: PMIs Nursing curriculum only satisfies Arizona's Board of Nursing requirements. If you plan to be a nursing in any other state, you will likely not meet reciprocity requirements. This is particularly concerning for students with military commitments to pay for an education they may or may not be able to utilize in the event they are tasked with relocation orders. Please be advised and research your state beforehand. From PMI's website--"*This is an on-ground program available to residents of Arizona and is approved for licensure by the Arizona State Board of Nursing. After licensure is obtained in AZ, transfer of state licensure may be available via state reciprocity compacts."

Whether you're looking at the Tucson location that I attended or any other campus across the…read morecountry, the truth is the same - ITT Technical Institute is a for-profit diploma mill that teaches outdated information on outdated technology and saddles you with more debt than most doctors. This school as a whole is a scam and I wish I had taken the time to research it more before enrolling when I was 18. I wasn't yet aware that there are "schools" that exist to take advantage of their students. These are not the words of a disgruntled student who dropped out because it was too hard. I was a highest honors student at ITT nearly ever quarter I was there. When I wasn't highest honors, I was honors. I left because I realized what I wish I had before. This school is majorly looked down upon in the professional world. What you learn in these walls is not applicable. You will be given an A in this school whether you do the work or not, because they want you to stay and keep paying them their absurd fees for outdated information. They use fear tactics to enroll students; it is right in their handbook, which you can find online with some digging. The lawsuits against them are absurd, including a teacher giving a student an "A" on a paper about preparing noodles, when it should have been written about computer sciences. They hand out "A"s because that is what keeps students there. It keeps them happy and unquestioning until they're out in the real world and realize that there is nothing they can do with the degree. In fact, they'll learn that it is wiser to keep their degree off their resume, because God forbid someone notice that you went to school at ITT. Under no circumstances should you attend this school or anything like it.

This is my experience at ITT Technical Institute in Tucson…read more I was in their programming and software engineering program. The introductory programming class was taught by an ITT graduate. He read notes verbatim off of a PowerPoint presentation and then assigned exercises from the textbook. If I asked him any questions, he told me to just look in the book. I complained about him to the director and she told me that it was the student's responsibility to teach himself the material and that the classes only provided a framework. She assured me that I wouldn't have to work with that particular instructor again. Some instructors were better than other, but this was the general tone of the place. One of the later instructors, who was actually a programmer, asked us every week, "Did you write a program today?" I get the point that it's something that needed to be done every day, but if I'm paying for the course, I expect the school to at least provide assignments that give opportunities to practice what was taught in class and the school did not. For the last of the eight semesters, I found out I would once again have the incompetent ITT graduate as an instructor. I realized that I was deeply hating the whole experience, not learning very much from it, and that the junior Associates lite degree I would be earning was pretty much meaningless, so I quit seven-eighths of the way through the program and I am still paying off the student loans for this substandard education ten years later. Maybe ITT Technical Institute has improved greatly since 2004. Maybe my program was a weak one and the other programs are good. Maybe the ITT in Tucson was substandard and the other campuses are better. My opinion is that this is a purely for-profit school which preys on young people who have no idea what post-secondary education is supposed to be like. I wasn't especially young and had a lot of post-secondary educational experience, so I don't any excuse for leaving this pathetic excuse for an institution of learning after the first week, but I wanted to pass on my experience and my opinion to any prospective students.
