I had an awful experience with Compak. The problem was with the relationship manager, not the company as a whole. He was a loud-mouthed, blustery, boorish, condescending person, and it ended up badly. I opened my account at a bad time in the market. It was during a bear market after a big bear market rally. I was concerned because the relationship manager did massive buying at that time. I emailed him my concern. He later called me and said I should never email a complaint because the email is sent throughout the company and sent to the Compliance department. Another time I emailed my concern to an officer of the company. Once again my relationship manager called me and said that causes problems because it goes to Compliance. He told me never to email my concerns to the company because it goes to Compliance and causes all sorts of problems. A few months later I received a mass email from Compak inviting me to a webinar about the market. I emailed a reply saying I didn't think it would do much good. I never even mentioned the relationship manager. The next day I received a call at work from the relationship manager. He yelled at me, insulted me, and berated me. He repeatedly called me a moron. I was at work, so I was very polite. But, he was loud and insulting It was very unprofessional My complaint isn't about the company as a whole or the portfolio performance that approximates the market. It is only about being berated and insulted by the relationship manager. read more

I was an advisor with Compak until 2013. Probably the very best at what they do. Some people may have issues with performance on a occasion, but that is typical of any money management firm. Moe and his team utilize the best technology and resources in the industry. Nobody can predict the future, but the company has a solid plan if clients take advantage of all that is offered. More than a decade ago (in the 1990's) we were dedicated listeners of an investment radio show featuring Mo Ansari. He had an investment call-in show and a vast knowledge and passion for giving investment strategy advice. During that period, I was making my own decisions about where to invest my 401K money and was doing quite well. And then in the late 1990's, when "dot com" became the buzz word, the market crashed. I watched my 401K shrink to half its value and realized that I could not expect to have anything when I retired if I were to continue to be the manager of my own money. Mo Ansari, of course, has his own Asset Management team, called Compak. So, long story short, in 2000, we turned most of our money and decision making over to him and his group. Since, I have never looked back and never regretted my decision. He has guided us through several terrible times in the stock market and his decisions and anticipation/analysis have always saved our butts. His investment decisions have way out-performed the remaining money I left to other large investment houses. We heard from him and his staff at least annually, if not more, but maybe once in the past 10 years from the others. Mo and his staff are unique and wonderful in their customer service, no matter how little or how large your bucket of money is. There is only one caveat. You must have $150K to start. Because he will consider your entire family's assets to reach that sum, my son and daughter can also benefit from his expertise. Mo is the guiding light of this company. He is the ultimate decision maker for all investments, and does quarterly telecom seminars to update all his customers. We have a whole team of his people that meet with us to discuss retirement planning, investment strategy, and financial advice. It is free to us as his loyal customers. A phone call to his office is a very wise idea, if just to find out how he operates, especially after watching the market play with your sensibilities the way it has in the past few years. I posted a review of Compak three years ago, complimenting them on their performance. The fact that I am still a client confirms the continuing confidence I have in them to manage my portfolio. 2019 and especially 2020 have been such volatile years, that even breaking even would seem to be wishful thinking. However, the team at Compak, led by Mo and Javaid Anasari, have continued to sustain sufficient growth in my IRA to cover my monthly retirement distributions year after year, which is an amazing achievement. My portfolio is balanced to minimize risk while achieving growth, and their anticipatory investment strategies continue to the best in the business. What a total Hack! All that talk about Pro Active Management and they have produced sub par results. They even had to close their own mutual fund the Compak Dynamic Asset Allocation Fund in 2013 due to its deplorable track record. Sorry Moe, but your record is more proof that low cost total market based index funds that you refer to as "hope and hold" are the superior investment choice. I really liked what he had to say so I contacted the company and blindly moved my portfolio to him from the east coast (where I wasn't making money with 3 different brokers). I was a little skeptical since I didn't know anyone who had their investments with Compak, but I had a good feeling about them and followed my instincts. I have been a client at Compak Asset Management for just over five years and am very happy in choosing them to manage my investments. I have been invested in their 100% stock growth portfolio and it has performed very well. I like the fact that they invest directly into individual stocks and sectors using low-cost ETFs. They believe as I do, that minimizing investment expenses is critical component to successful investing. They also implement a risk reduction strategy which gives me comfort that they are watching things closely and have a sell strategy when the market changes. At first I didn't think I needed a comprehensive financial plan, but decided to work with Compak's financial planning team since their services are included in their 1% annual management fee. Boy was I impressed with the amount and quality of information I received! Turns out that by doing the financial plan and implementing the strategy recommendation I am going to save about $20,000 in taxes. The financial planning advice alone it worth hiring them as your financial advisor besides the additional insights they provided on understanding the markets and making money on my investments. I turned over the investments ($200k) of my corporation to Compak. First they invested in A stocks thereby increasing the money they made up front in addition to the 1.5 per cent fee they charge. they made some horrendous mistakes like selling $30k of Exxon stock (prior to Buffett buying up Exxon stock. They were recommended by Fidelity and after six months I have pulled the corporate assets out of Compak and all my assets (500k) out of fidelity. what shysters!!! BUYER BEWARE!!! read more

Two words - Stay Away. I would have given them minus five stars if that was possible. These guys are all about high pressure sales tactic - reminded me almost of a time share presentation I attended a while back. The modus operandi is radio show host who seems to be just repeating what other news sources are saying. This is followed by regional seminar in person with other people where they talk up the credentials of the host. Followed by an account rep who talks to you. This rep will be more interested in how quickly and how much money you will bring in for management and generally is clueless about investment strategies. They will quote 2% as their fee during the seminar and then the rep will tell you not to discuss it with any one else at the seminar because you are supposedly getting a better deal at 1.25%. Their minimum is 250K for this "great deal". I have no problem per se paying 1.25% if they can justify the returns. However, no where in the presentation or my meeting with them they were able to justify their high charges. They have a mutual fund called Compak Mutual Fund that reflects their investment strategy they recommend for clients under 250K. The prospectus states the max load at 4.75% and expense ratio of over 4%. This is truly ridiculous for the subpar performance this fund has generated. Just google it and you will see. I am not sure how these guys have made it to Barrons 100. They market the heck out of this. But the returns of their fund do not justify this rating. You will find far better money managers else where. I did. For half the cost and much better proven results over the past 25 years. read more

Invested with Compak in 2015. I meet with different investment organizations to determine who I wanted to direct my equities. I chose Compaq because they had different styles on how they would invest my money. I chose a growth and income style investment , conservative. I was also interested in how they would handle a significant downturn in the market so when the downturn hit in the beginning of 2016 I was on the phone with Compak listening to their insights and advice. I held my position and 2016 turned into a profitable year. I have seen strong returns since the November election so I was pleased with my portfolios outcome. You are much better off sitting in cash than placing your hard-earned money into their hands. They are a bunch of big-talks, Moe Ansari in particular, and they do NOTHING but make money off of your funds through various buys and sells. I left my IRA account in their control, as Fidelity had highly recommended them. They constantly under-performed S&P and half of the investments they made were losing money for the years they controlled my funds. After three years, I decided to take my money out as I had less than when I had started off with them. Taking inflation into account, I lost a big chunk of money... Their trick is to keep you there and make their percentages off of your money, making sure they convey, in Moe's daily radio show, that they are the experts who know what they are doing, and you don't. They are milking off hundreds of investors who fall into their trap, just like myself... In his radio show, he never opens up the phone lines to the would-be callers so they would not have to answer any "undesirable" questions. Moe Ansari does the same in his quarterly Webcasts with his clients: it's a one-way speech -- big talk, pretty charts, impertinent data that do not add up, portraying scary market scenario analysis to ascertain you'll leave your money in their "good" hands -- all the while keeping the lines closed to the webcast participants! They wont't allow Q/A for reasons that should be clear to you by now... If you buy the S&P index, for example, and I am not recommending it here, you are assured of performing the same, NOT under-performing it with your money, as they did with mine! Don't even get close to these charlatans! Their goal is purely maximizing their own profits! read more
