The clothing selection here was amazing!!! I found a bunch of cute things and they were all really well priced. The store was very clean and easy to navigate, as each section was quite organized. The only downside is that there is no dressing room, so I tried my items on over my clothes--I recommend wearing more form fitting clothes so it's easier to try things on top of them! read more

I frequently shop here and have for years. I love this store, especially since Deidre became the manager a few years ago. She is great and always has the store organized and clutter free so it's easy to look at all the items for sale. I will say that I have never ever left empty handed! They always have interesting finds, especially clothes and shoes, and most of the time their prices are very reasonable. Would definitely recommend!! read more

I've visited Community Thrift's other location in North Charleston a few times, but today was my first time at the Summerville store. Based on that, I'll say it's worth the drive. Community Thrift is extremely clean, organized, and doesn't have the dusty feel of other thrift stores. The men's, women's, and children's clothing areas are distinct, then broken down into aisles based on clothing types (blouses, t-shirts, sweaters, pants, shorts, uniforms, etc). Each rack has markers for sizes S-XL, so it's more like a clearance section of a store, so you can go straight to your size(ish). I can't speak for all sizes, but I saw a lot of name brands and styles for everyone from young to old. Employees are easy to spot and dressing rooms are available too. The merchandise is well priced, starting at 99 cents, and the store does mark prices down, as you'll see on the tags. The prices seemed fair. Books, DVDs, etc, are all set prices, and if you're not into clothing or shoes, you could spend all day perusing the books and housewares sections. It's a thrift store, so some luck is involved, but if you want to pop some tags and have $20 in your pocket, you could score a nice haul at Community Thrift. read more

You really had to search for something nice and in good condition, but the cost of the used furniture was reasonable, however, required some tender loving care. The service gentleman who helped transfer the furniture into our car was very good and super helpful. For what we were looking for in a pinch and low price, this place was great! read more

I didn't find what I was searching for but I did find a photo that matched my dining room perfectly so it wasn't a total bust. This is one of the largest thrift stores I've ever been to. They have a great deal of clothes specifically for women. I was a little disappointed in the lack of boys clothes as I was there to get uniforms for my son school. However I did leave with three pairs of shirts shirts and pants which only cost around 20 bucks or so. They have all kinds of different items such as furniture gardening items, nice shoes and very nice sport coats and men's dress pants. This location was very busy, but that was expected on a Sunday. This place reminds me of what Goodwill used to be like before it became expensive. I also purchased seven sets of clothes and uniforms for my daughter for less than $60. I'm very grateful to have found this place and I will definitely be back. read more

Good brand names in clothing. Many retro/vintage/antique collectibles. This week's score: vintage Yves Saint Laurent over-the-knee boots in excellent condition. A few months ago: Two framed Shepard Fairy signed/numbered posters for 1.50 each. Cheap frames but the posters I sold for $300 on Poshmark. Now that I think of it I'm creating competition for myself. This place is way too overpriced, some things are actually retail price or almost retail price, but they are used. I think owners/managers don't understand the difference between new and used. While the resale portion of the store is alright and the people that work there, don't call the kidney foundation number to donate. I was told it was the North Charleston office. I had to set up a pick up for a couch. I spoke with two different ladies when asking questions about my pickup. The first lady couldn't help me and said that she would transfer me to her manager so that she could, "handle me." The manager was very condescending and rude. Next time, I will call another organization that actually will appreciate my donation. (FYI: the guys that picked up the couch were great!). read more

I feel the same about this location as I do about the Rivers Avenue location. Some of their items are way over priced considering that they get them donated. You really need to be a smart shopper and know what you are getting for your money.. I think sometimes they forget that they are not a real retail store. I think that if they keep their prices lower, they would sell more and increase their profits even more so. read more

This is my best kept secret. I usually only tell my friends bc the thrifting competition is fierce, but I will share with you yelpers. If you want to know where I get my stylish clothes, 60% of my (designer) wardrobe comes from here. The isles are organized by item length (like tanks-short-long sleeves) and size, so it's a breeze to browse for items. The prices start at 99cents, and go up, the highest price I've seen is $19.99 for a gorgeous Badgley Mishka silk coctail dress (ugh if only it fit me!!!). I believe items get marked down the longer they are on the floor so getting something great for 1.99 or .99 isn't that uncommon! Thank you to all the luxurious locals who donate here! Great way to save money. This store used to be run by the National Kidney Foundation, but has since become a for profit store. The stock they have varies greatly so you may need to make more than one trip to find what you are looking for, but the price will be worth it. They have lots of clothes, even designer brands. They also have furniture, sporting goods, electronics, linens, toys and household goods. If you need or want great prices on useful items, this is the store for you. The staff does a good job of keeping things organized but you may want to plan to stay awhile to find just the right item. This is the place to go if you enjoy finding bargains. read more

I went here with my friend, and we had never been to a thrift shop before so we didn't know what to expect. It was pretty clean inside but I wouldn't say that place was that big. The staff was not the nicest. They would walk pass with their carts and wait for you to move out of their way instead of going around. We looked all over Charleston and Summerville today. Inventory was in ok to poor condition at both stores. Items are overpriced and they charge a whopping 9% sales tax at the Charleston store. Might have to check whose getting that money and if the store accounting is legit. read more

I have been shopping here for years over ten their selections are great and prices are as we'll until recently. Someone is getting greedy particularly on SHOES .none of their shoes were ever over $8 but now that are pricing stuff so high I can buy it on amazon new cheaper. Seriously I saw a pair of slip on sketcher shoes I priced new a couple weeks ago at $22 new for 19.99 and they were not in new condition. Stuff that used to be $3 is 12 I can go to good will and get the same stuff at all stiles for the same. $4 price all brands. I have mentioned to the staff they are over pricing stuff the last 4x I have been in there. They get this stuff for free... But they wanna rip us off on used foot ware They had some doc martins I can buy on line for $39. NEW for $59 used... I hope you read your yelps thrift.... You need to fire your pricer. I love this place and have gotten great deals on everything from household items to clothing. They do not mark up the items so the are too expensive, everything they sell is clean and the store is very neat and everything is easy to find. Their prices on almost everything beats Goodwill especially clothing. I like how they do mark downs on items not selling fast which Goodwill never does. Ive found some good stuff there. The negative is friendliness. Its non existent. Its so bad as you feel they think its a privilege for them to let you in the door. Remember guys all your merchandise is donated by us so be polite and helpful. And they need a real enforced policy on holds. I picked up a ottoman carried it around in my cart for 30 minutes only for some employee to come yank it out of my cart and say it was sold ...funny no receipt or sold marking on it .
