He is very proactive and responsive with scheduling sessions. He consistently pushed me to work harder in our sessions - I was able to bench/squat/deadlift way more weight than I expected. I felt confident pushing harder and going to failure on the sets because he was there to help if I got stuck during the lift. Eduardo also gave me great advice on nutrition, supplements, and equipment to help with training. When I sprained my ankle, Eduardo adjusted our sessions to accommodate it. We switched to circuit-style training and I still made strength progress and beat my one-rep max weights. Eduardo is also very pleasant to talk with and I appreciate learning about his vast experience in the world of strength training and body building. I would recommend anyone to work with him to reach their goals!

My journey began when I finally couldn't stand the arthritis pain in my knees that was keeping me from doing anything fun, sometimes even just getting off the couch. I'd fallen a couple of times and had no energy. By a pure miracle, I walked into Anytime Fitness Freret, and met Eric Capers, head trainer and owner of Pro Fitness Trainers. Eric is a physical therapist as well as a personal trainer, and I trusted that he had the knowledge I needed to make progress without injury, so I signed on. Little by little, learning every day, I got stronger, restored my balance, and was able to walk longer distances. Four years later, by consistent work, paying attention to food (not starving, not stuffing), I have lost 40 pounds, dropped my LDL cholesterol by 45 points, walked in three 5k events and the Crescent City Classic 10k (what????) and my doctor says I've added at least five years to my life. I'm 75 now, planning on lots more. If you've been thinking about it, putting it off, getting down on yourself, call Eric and get a free fitness assessment. You can't go wrong. Thanks for everything, Eric!

When I came through the door I had the nicest welcome from her and she even joined the class and lent me her belt. Class was full and Gregory was awesome in navigating with everyone. So I had heard very mixed things about this organization over the years. A trainer I greatly…read morerespect told me that they are cult like and if you're not 100% in, you're not in it all. They advertised a six week shape up plan, I spoke to the trainer Kerry over the phone and basically told him what I'm about, not really a joiner, kind of like to do my work and get out of there, in reasonable shape would like to be in better shape for my wedding in December. I was told that I could come in and get measured and then go to my first class which was supposed to be tonight, as they were closed for the holiday, typically it would be Monday Wednesday and Friday for six weeks. I was also told that I could come in and get measured anytime. A six week challenge sounded good, the price was reasonable $350, And I felt like they were worth a shot. I also asked that after three months of self-imposed Covid isolation, I really didn't want to know my weight or fat content and I would be happy to just know how much I lost at the end. On the phone, he agreed, but now the challenger was full, he was not willing to work with me. He also said they would email me paperwork to complete which never arrived. I was so wrong to give this place a chance, I always give people the benefit of the doubt. After just getting back from my future father-in-law's funeral in South Carolina which ate up the last week and a half of my time. I showed up to be measured, not work out, this morning, And was told they were completely full. And I reminded him of the phone call which he then I guess realized he had taken. Now granted there was a class going on I had no idea there was going to be one in progress and I was willing to wait until the class was over or come back later, for the five minutes that he would measure me and put me on the scale. This was even after he told me that they were not at my beck and call (pretty rude) and that they had other paying clients, which of course I realize. I offered to come back at a more convenient time this afternoon. I should have walked out then, this man was acting like a jerk, not a professional. My advice is unless you really want to be part of a fitness community and be there all the time, you may want to look elsewhere. I am not a 'social joiner' as I have a demanding life that requires my full attention. I have enough friends, what I needed was a trainer and maybe some accountability. Kerry then said this wouldn't be a good fit and he didn't suggest that I take part in the class. I asked him if that meant he would not sign me up and he said yes. Who needs this kind of aggravation and by the way they were working out without masks indoors. That alone should have been a red flag. No thanks, more trainers in Nola who want to work.

He safely trained me slowly(over months) working up strength. He shares knowledge about any/everything about it with the goal that you can learn to make your own workouts/lift on your own. I ask A LOT of questions. He patiently answered them all. Thanks Brandon! Very body positive and not fat-phobic at all! He's knowledgeable about nutrition and food habits and offers that info if asked but never made any assumptions about my goals. He has great local recommendations for body workers (is this the right word?) if you have any injuries you need worked on. His studio space has everything you need for a great workout. It's very clean and well lit. The AC is rockin'. The equipment is new and contemporary, nothing old or junky. Has a bathroom/changing room. Did I mention it is IMPECCABLY clean? I gained not only muscle but also the confidence to build my own workouts. I highly recommend training with Brandon!

Anyways, once you are past that, it feels like stepping back in time--but with upgraded amenities and machines, of course. But I just absolutely adore the historic atmosphere. There are antique weights in a mini-museum in one of the large fitness rooms, the walls lined with vintage gym bro photos (I didn't see any muscle mamis tho...), and even a crystal chandelier! But like I mentioned, the amenities are all updated. There's a good-sized pool, both a sauna and steam room, and a nice sized locker room. The locker room has a bathing suit dryer! My favorite surprise was the cafe/lounge/bar area that's suitable for working, studying, reading, etc. They even have a women-only machine room--love that thoughtful, inclusive touch. You know what New Orleans doesn't have enough of? Tracks. Luckily, NOAC has an indoor track for those who don't like treadmills. They also have a jam-packed group fitness schedule that included improv and acting classes on Wednesday nights--where else do you find that at a gym?! It's probably an extra fee though. They have a Pilates reformer studio that isn't included in membership, apparently. Although it's in the quarter/downtown, they have plenty of nearby parking lots for members. I came on a buddy pass (you only get 6 a year), but my friend mentioned that members can bring their spouses for free on weekends. Only small downside: towels cost $1.50, but honestly, just bring your own. I am so tempted to join!

From the second you walk in, it feels like old-school charm meets modern-day motivation. The building itself is gorgeous -- think chandeliers, brick walls, and history dripping from every dumbbell. The weight room? Massive. The cardio section? Plenty of options. The pool? Stunning and feels like something Gatsby would've done laps in. And don't even get me started on the boxing ring -- I half-expected to see Rocky training in the corner. There's even a Turkish bath. Yes, a Turkish bath -- where else are you gonna find that? The people were super friendly, and there was this kind of unspoken camaraderie in the air -- everyone's working hard but also vibing with the beauty of the space. I got a killer workout and a mini history tour all in one. If you're in New Orleans and want to sweat in style -- this is the spot. 10/10 will be back (probably sore but smiling).
