Horrible experience, never shop there! I am being harassed and defamed by the store owner or…read moremanager at the Darboy location. But then it started at the Menasha location which is the main office of NCW. These people are trash, there are plenty of other thrift stores that don't treat their best customers this way. They need to be sued! Further they need to go out of business if they run a business like this.
On June 2nd, 2024 I traveled from Oshkosh Wisconsin while on a return trip from moving, and decided to stop at Goodwill Menasha, which is just off the expressway. I drove around and into the parking lot. It was around 1:10 PM, between 1 and 1:30. I exited my vehicle and walked quickly to the front of the store, entered the store. I walked through the second set of doors, looked straight ahead and smiled at an African-American female that was at the end of the checkout, who smiled back. I looked to my left to say hello to who I think is the manager of the store, a tall dark haired lady that I haven't seen at that store in a while.
I was expecting a welcome greeting which is what any good business gives to a repeat customer, especially one that has been regular customer of Goodwill NCW stores . However, as I began to walk to the right, the manager, looked at me and said hey you're not supposed to be in here. I said, not this store..... She told me to leave the store, you are not allowed here. We have a report.....and I couldn't understand the rest of her words. I said, if that is the way you treat your best customer, then I will leave, and walked out of the store.
The store employee / manager did this right in front of the many other customers in line, implying that I committed a crime or did something illegal to be "banned" from the store. I have never been told I could not shop or apply for employment at this location. Two years ago I was escorted to the door at the Darboy location by 3 sheriff's deputies and was accused of "stalking" someone, an unknown person, that was never identified. Apparently I ran into the same customer that was just at Bethesda. Like people that go to Menards, then to Home Depot, or Target, then to Wal Mart, this was a coincidence. I was told not to return to the Darboy Goodwill, and I have never been back there since. It is been about 2 years, and due to this, I have reduced my purchases at all Goodwill NCW locations by 90 percent.
However, there are laws in the US concerning businesses and discrimination in places of public accommodation, 42 USC 2000(a). Considering that I shop at many other stores and don't seem to ever have any other "complaints" I suspect that an employee of Goodwill NCW knowingly gave a false report to the Outagamie County Sheriff's department and is engaging in this activity to harass or intimidate me. The combination of that action, being pulled out of the store in front of customers by law enforcement officers, for doing nothing wrong, combined with being told the leave the Menasha store on June 2nd 2024, it is reasonable to believe that I am being defamed by Goodwill NCW. I would have ended the complaint to my bad review of the Darboy location. However, three things are happening here:
1. Making false or misleading statements to a law enforcement officer, mainly to Outagamie County Sherriffs. Officers
2. Defamation of Character by your employee or manager on June 2, 2024, as well as the previous false complaint.
3. Discrimination in places of public accommodation, 42 USC 2000(a).
Based on the above actions, it is reasonable to believe that Goodwill NCW is maintaining a false "criminal record" and I suspect may be maintaining images of people on it's "banned" list, which are shown to its employees. I also noticed that when I entered the store in Grand Chute, a repeating announcement telling me to be aware of my surroundings. This seemed to only occur when I entered the store. This stopped within the last 7 months, as I suspect an employee may have reported you to the DWD.
I am well aware of Wisconsin Statute 940.32, which is Stalking, as I have reported the activity several times beginning in 2009 after being followed down Hwy 41 by a vehicle with suspect counterfeit plates, number 123-XYZ. The vehicle continued to follow me when my vehicles speed dropped to 45 MPH, and I finally drove onto the shoulder, slamming on my brakes to get it to pass me. The same plate was finally photographed on another vehicle many years later.
The second of the stalking events occurred in 2009 in Shawano at the Shawano Goodwill Store. Instead of going to the goodwill, I went to the K-Mart first. I had an HD video camera at this point and mounted it on a tripod in my van, documenting part of my trip to Shawano. When I left Kmart, I turned onto the road to Goodwill behind the gas station. An SUV hard braked in front of me. The SUV began repeatedly circling the Goodwill Shawano parking lot, and I captured the activity on camera.
