The volunteers are just the neatest bunch of people and they work hard to service clients with dignity, respect, and humor. The food bank has raised garden beds where they grow food and at times there are food service volunteers who help teach clients how to prepare nutritious meals from fresh vegetables and such.

I am not sure what the Anonymous W person was talking about, several inaccuracies in their review, however I found this place quite organized with flexible opportunities. Schedule in advance on the online portal and there are so many ways you can help this organization. I have been taking one week off a year from work to spend time here, and my team (local tech giant) prefers to spend our limited holiday event budget attending a packing event, they will schedule in advance. We replaced the white elephant gift exchange with donating a wrapped gift for the kids. Yes, they do that too!! Don't take my (or the anonymous complainers) word for it, just go check them out online or in person. The work they are doing for our community is amazing. I wish there were more organizations like this.

Great local food bank. My family volunteered here regularly for a year. Even my well-mannered kids…read more(4,9 & 12) were able to help out and give back to the community. We would repackage grains, diapers, bagels, coffee, beans, etc. As well as sort cans and cereals into bins. It's a small place, but John seems to keep things running smoothly. They always seem to be overflowing with help and food around the holidays but slips from people's minds during the summer. It's disheartening to see the shelves get so bare. There are plenty of areas to volunteer, but parking is scarce. They offer a wide variety of foods to their patrons, sometimes including frozen meats and fresh produce. There is also a clothing bank run by Theresa in the other half of the building that we've donated to.

They had a lot of workers, and they were all smiles and very compassionate. I remember that they used to get good produce from local farms when it was in season. I highly recommend these folks if you live in Arlington, and you have a need.

I had some things to donate and took some to the Goodwill in Maple Valley, but saved the…read moremedical/health aids to donate to the senior center. Upon my arrival, there were several seniors leaving what was obviously some sort of gathering. Two women who seemed to work at the center were busy talking to a young child and completely ignored me when I came in with a new walker and box of medical supplies. Finally one of them said "just leave it there", which I did. I went back to my car and got the box with a shower chair in it and the same woman informed me they were not allowed to take shower items due to insurance reasons. Neither woman ever acted appreciative or thanked me for the donations or indicated being sorry for not being able to take the shower chair. Had I known what kind of reception I would get, I would have made my life easier by dropping everything at the Goodwill. If you want a senior center that's warm and welcoming, go somewhere else.
