Me and my friend stayed here in Nov 2018. We booked for 2 nights because it was competitively priced and claimed to be disabled friendly and close to the attractions we planned to visit. Photos of their disabled ground floor room weren't on their website. Because of the language barrier we found it difficult to find out the room layout and if there was a wet room, which it did. We arrived late at night and we didn't know the car park was concealed by an electronic gate. The first male receptionist (young guy) was friendly but didn't speak English well so getting instructions wasn't easy. Also the car park entrance isn't wheelchair accessible so we had to go around the outside of the building which was difficult in my wheelchair. The staff member did help with our bags which was good of him as we couldn't have physically managed without his help (this was our only positive point). We arrived late at night, checked in, paid for 2 days parking (£20) and was escorted to our room. The first thing we noticed about the room was the awful smell of stale cigarette smoke. It's a non smoking room but clearly people have been smoking in there for a long time and the room reeked, was very off putting and unpleasant. It was very annoying that I couldn't get my wheelchair to the bed due to the very bad lay out of the room. My friend couldn't reach the other side of her bed due to a large chair in the way, which she hurt herself on twice before we asked for it to be removed from the room due to my friend being partly sighted. The wet room had no grab rails or seat in the shower which is very dangerous, so I couldn't shower properly. The room was absolutely filthy (see photos posted on other review sites) and we had to go around the whole room (including skirting and headboards) with antibacterial wipes, which came out brown, it was disgusting. Our socks were filthy after a few minutes being on the floor. There were hairs all over the room, stuck on walls and in the beds. Cobwebs on the ceiling, the phone was so dirty we used our mobiles to call reception. Holes in all the bedding with stains and dried food spills on the furniture. Also the furniture is old, falling apart with sharp edges and needs to be thrown out. There was mold on the inside of the window, the shower curtain was covered in stains and marks, was so gross. We had to sleep on top of towels and use our clothes as blankets as the hotel had no spares for us to use, which was terrible. The night time male receptionist (older man) could hardly speak any English and was so incredibly rude, he shouldn't work there absolutely appalling attitude and the way he spoke to us was terrible. We were unable to check out in the middle of the night being in wheelchair it's almost impossible to find another hotel last minute with correct facilities. The breakfast was laughable and looked nothing like the breakfast photo advertised and they should be embarrassed, very disappointed. Complaining was frustrating and exhausting. We checked out after the first night as we were so shocked by the conditions and the hotel did nothing to rectify the situation. I have never checked out of a hotel early before, this was seriously bad! We had no choice but to travel back home and this whole experience ruined our whole trip. The hotel staff all telling you different things, manager never available and slow at replying. After weeks of calls and emails back and forth with Booking.com we finally got a refund. Absolutely terrible service and dirty. Cheap means basic and should be at least be clean. We highly recommend that you DO NOT stay here and avoid at all costs. Booking.com should remove them from their website. read more
