This place gets 1 star only because I can not give it 0. I began working with this place in Aug 2010 and it took me entirely to long to stop service in November 2010. TERRIBLE customer service! I repeat, TERRIBLE customer service! Save yourself the headache and don't even bother signing up - honestly! I switched to Bank of America for merchant services, not only did they beat the current rates I had, but customer service is great - I even have the cell phone number of my rep incase something goes wrong. I have been a customer of this business since 2011. We have attempted multiple times to cancel our account with them. I have sent emails, faxes and jumped through all the hoops they have set up, to no avail. Alas, they are somehow still able to pull $44 / month out of my account. Interestingly enough, I went on Yelp to see if anyone else has had this experience. I was shocked to see that there are almost 30 other reviews that have had the same experience. Yet somehow, those other reviews are hidden by the Yelp filter. Look for yourself! I would not recommend using Commerce Payment Systems due to our challenges cancelling our account. That said, I will mention that they performed as expected for our Merchant Account. I'm agree with everyone else that has posted about commerce payment systems. Here is what I went through. Got a friendly call to get setup. I decided to sign. They didn't set the proper expectations up front. They wanted all bank statements, references, credit checks which is not unreasonable if disclosed up front. Once I received the terminal, I looked over the terms and did not agree with it. They limited how much a single transaction would be and would not budge until I sent in references. I refused to do so and said please cancel my account. Guess what, instead of cancelling, they continued to bill me month after month for about 4 months. The funny thing is they were charging me around $100 per month like I actually had transactions but I never even used their service. Getting my account cancelled was a nightmare. After they received the terminal back, they still billed be for service. WTF! Getting a refund is ridiculous as well. Don't even get me started there. I don't take time out of my day to write bad reviews but this was one review I had to write. Do business with this company at YOUR OWN RISK. There is a 65% chance that you will regret doing business with these guys. We looked at all the reviews and decided to go with them anyways after multiple reassurances by the sales person about our concerns with the reviews. It was a huge huge mistake. I have to tell you, they are all lie. I got to into a contract with them to have $14.95 monthly fees but I end getting charged more than $79.00 monthly fee and whenever I called, different people say different thing and for the 3 months that I was with them, I didn't get a straight answer what are those charges are. not to mention it took them more than 2 weeks to deposit my successful authorized transation into my bank account rather than 2 days. The Company's name: Commerce Payment Systems and they also use Merchant Commerce Systems What a nightmare! All businessess should avoid using this company, especially smaller ones because you cannot afford to lose money the way I have. The customer service is the worst and you have to spend close an hour of your valuable work time to try to undo, understand and unveil their mistakes and fraudulent activities. I set up my account in august 2009 and I've paid an average of $70 per month in fees that I still don't know what I was being charged for. They NEVER just send you a refund when they debit money in error...you just get it reduced from your next month's fees which you still won't know what you're actually being charged! CRAZY! They also have a yearly "insurance" fee of $99 which they take out whenever they get ready to. I've had to fight to get fees back because they've hit me twice within a four-month period of time. You never get anyone who can really help you and forget it when they say they're going to do something. They've never changed my business address (i've moved to my third suite since starting with them) even though I sent the request for the change the way they instructed. I never received rolls of paper with my machine, my equipment was defective and I couldn't swipe the card. Their solution: just keep pressing down really hard until it goes through! (They get more money if you have to key it in so they really didn't care if it worked or not!) When I was planning to cancel my account in Jan 2011, "David" (the customer service supervisor) offered me a reduction of my fees by $25 to keep my business. What a joke because that never happened! then I got hit again with the $99 fee in May and tried from June 6 - june 10th to get someone to call me back. NEVER DID! I then found out the name of the owner and wrote him a letter. Never heard back from him. I finally got someone on June 10th and I was sent the Cancellation form that I was to fax back. I did that. I also returned the equipment on 6/15 and it was delivered to them on 6/17 at 10:51am. I was told that the account would be closed within 5 -7 days. This company is fraud! Total nightmare every step of the way! I opened 3 accounts with them and have had nothing but problems from day 1. Now more than $675 is missing from my accounts. I have called more than 17 different times and not one person can straighten out the mess, or credit the mischarged transactions. I was quoted a rate of 1.59% for credit card processing, and after starting to use the service I realize that I am now paying between 5 % - 7.2% after the small print charges. Their salesmen are sweet talkers, but they did not tell me about the monthly minimum fee, nor did they tell me that the equipment would cost me $29 that they call an insurance fee. They sent me equipment that would not work, charged me basic fees for a month I did not have equipment, then charged my account for a $99 "regulation update fee" after they were had been in possession of my cancellation request and equipment for over 25 days. It was nearly impossible to cancel my account and it took me 3 attempts. They even charged me an "inactivity fee" Of $79.90 each month for not using my account while I was trying to cancel! An inactivity fee? When I inquired about that fee and told them I never agreed to pay $80 per month for their services, they said my contract said "fees were subject to change without notice". Thanks for the Tip!!!!! We started with Commerce Payment Systems in 2014. We were signed up by a very friendly guy, The Commerce Payment Systems website promised the lowest rates in the industry. We did not use the virtual terminal a lot, averaging $0 to $2000 per month in credit card charges. We were charged a transaction fee from Bankcard Processing Services for each transaction based on the size of the transaction of about 3%. Plus, we were charged an Authorize.Net Gateway Billing charge of around $25.00 per month. But in January, 2018, we were charged a Bankcard fee of $116.00 for no transaction, in addition to the usual charges. We googled Commerce Payment Systems and found this site, as well as several others with irate customers railing at the debited fees to their account. I tried customer service numbers for Commerce Payment Systems and the affiliated EVO Payments International, but they all were dead numbers. Upon the advice of Yelp users, we went ahead and blocked access to our accounts through our bank. Tomorrow, we will start to enroll in another provider. I'm experiencing the same issues every body has we keep being billed about $121 per month when we have not processed a dime in the last 3 months using them. We have called to cancel. and nothing gets done. This people are thieves just out to take your money. My credit card processing fees using their virtual terminal were much higher than i was told it would cost at the beginning, they also charged a volume fee, so by the end of the month I was paying about 5% (much higher than Paypal, square and all others) so i stopped processing and been trying to cancel, but they keep billing my account, now I've contacted my bank's dispute center and hope to get this thing solved as soon as possible. I agree with the previous review. Commerce Payment systems customer service is borderline pathetic. Most of the time you sit on hold for 15-30 minutes. Managers are never available and NEVER return phone calls. I called for 2 weeks straight and every time I called they said someone would return my phone call. They overcharged our account by $855 from a July statement. I have called every week sine we received our statement in august for July. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone. read more

My experience with this company is pretty similar to the other customers who left their reviews on this web site. They fooled me with false advertisement and not disclosing with several hidden fees they were charging. After I cancel my contract, they continue to ACH debit my business account for several months. Last time I talk to them over the phone and I mentioned if they continue charging me, I will leave a negative feed back, their rep simply just hung up on me. About two weeks later the after hours service started to answer the phones but they have no access to Commerce records. I never activated my account but they still managed to pull $19.95 out of my acccount. What I have surmised so far is this company is closed and the computers are running the credit card processing. I did due diligence too late, sucked in by their advertising and sales person. Nothing they write in their marketing or say in their sales call is true. I began processing cards and sending them money, they began sucking money out of my bank account. Never did they actually give me my money. Now they say I have to pay their fees before they will give me the money I processed with them. I have gotten nothing from them. Better Business Bureau has over 250 complaints about them. I believe this is a good core of a class action suit against them. They are a fraudulent company. The Federal Trade Commission will take complaints against them as well. Everybody who has been screwed by them should complain to these entities as well as Visa and Mastercharge directly. If we can get hit by chargebacks so can they. read more

The single worst business decision I've made in over 20 years, was to switch to Commerce Payment Systems! They say there is 24/7 service but when you call on Saturday, there office is closed. Every time you call customer service it takes an hour to get anything resolved if you are able to get your issue resolved at all. Service reps are always kind, however, they are also always very unsympathetic no matter what the situation. They say funding takes place in 24 hours, however, I've had over $40,000 in transactions that they haven't funded over the last two weeks. Just stopped using them today. I am in the same situation as almost everyone else here. I was in the middle of signing up when I discovered the extremely poor customer service. From the receptionist to Mark Green, sales rep, I have received the poorest level of customer service ever. I have no clue how they manage to remain in business. I opened an account with them on 9.20.2011 and within one week they debited $41 from my account. I called and was put on hold for almost an hour and informed that it was their mistake and they would fix it in 30 days. I raised hell and got them to issue a credit after another 30 minutes on the phone. The following month I got hit with $30 monthly fee on top of the percentage they take when you run the card. I called again, was put on hold for 30 minutes, and directed to a website they said would give me an itemized billing which did not recognize my account number. Now for my second month, they debited $99 from my account. I called and was put on hold and hung up on after about 30 minutes of waiting. I called again and have been on hold for 23 minutes as we speak. Under no circumstances whatsoever, use this company. I've used this company for over one year without any problems, but then again I did not check my bank statements for that year to see what I was being charged. However, I found another company that offered better rates, I cancelled however, 1 year later after seeing an unusual BKCD Processing fees of $79.90 and when I looked back through my statements they charged me $79.90 for several month prior & one month $118 then $119 the following month & another month $185. They just used my back account and took money as they wished. When I called to say, what up with all these charges, they said they had no record of me cancelling. This company looks good on the surface but BEWARE!! If you are looking for reasonable priced merchant services, their prices look good and they are very helpful in getting you up and running (ie: signing the contract) however, after you have signed, it's all down hill from there. I started a small company and was encouraged by their reasonable prices. They charged me more than my contract amount, to get customer service I would wait for 30 minutes or more before I could get through to a person. It took them 2 months to return my money. THEN, they never told me about how I would get a monthly statement on line and never gave me my password (which they have to provide). They started charging me more money for my monthly fee and this notice was given to me on the on line statement that I had no way to get into...another 2 hours later waiting on the phone to talk to someone, I get my password....no offer to refund my $$. I felt they should as I was unable, per their lack of info, to see my statement and make my decisions accordingly ( I would have cancelled my service). THEN they inform me that they are going to start charging a $99 yearly fee for security!!! I sent in the appropriate paperwork to cancel my account with them and they continued to charge my account. When I called first I was told that yes, the account had been cancelled, but when they charged me another month and I called (another 1/2hour wait on the phone), they required me to send all the paperwork to them again to confirm I had sent it in the first place!!!! YUCK!! They cost me plenty in time wasted and overcharges that were not made available for me to examine due to their lack of communication!!! Commerce Payments System's Customer service is atrocious. While the reps are nice, you are on hold for at least 45 minutes every time you call and then most of the time you are transferred to someone else because they can't help you. The underwriting department doesn't check their email so you have to call in and remind them that you responded then they go find your email or pretend they never got it. I was told when i signed up that everything would be done in 24-48 hours and it was a super easy and straightforward process. Literally 1 month later I'm still on the phone with them for about an hour every couple days in order to try and get the funds transferred to my bank that have been sitting in nowhere land for the last month. And i finally today, after an hour and a half on the phone got my account fully functional so i can swipe cards now as well. If only i could get the money into my bank account now... Unless you like to waste a lot of time, i would steer clear of this company. read more
