I got married in May 2017 and City of Commerce Flowers was recommended by a friend. I had been to several flower consultations with other vendors and Duke by far was the best of those consults. I really liked the way he directed our meeting and was always asking questions and making suggestions and then sketched everything out. I felt that together, we had created something beautiful. Other consultations I went to at other places, the florist didn't know how direct a meeting and it felt so futile like nothing was getting accomplished. Duke is professional, he knows what he's doing and he's good at it. You don't spend time sitting there just staring at each other. He is asking you what colors and flowers you like and he is busy making sketches right off the bat! He is very flexible and open to your ideas. He was always about tailoring things to my budget, which was awesome! Now, I DID change things around quite a bit!!! And he was always sending me revised quotes. Make sure you READ EVERYTHING and make sure everything is accounted for! I found that things were unintentionally left off or left in, etc, so really make sure you read everything because this is what they go from when they bring in your flowers! It wasn't so much about the cost for me, it was about the flowers I wanted at my wedding and reception!! For example, I wanted hanging leis from the trees and rectangular flower arrangements on the family table. Those got left out of the revised quote. If I didn't go through that revised quote with a fine toothed comb, a HUGE element would have been missing from my wedding that I REALLY wanted and would have been very sad!! But this was all because of me, I added and removed elements from my original sit down with him and it got confusing, even to me. But Duke is very understanding and easy going and everything got done to perfection on wedding day! My husband and I both went to our meeting to see our flower samples based on the mockup Duke and I had created on our first meeting. I was less than impressed this day because the flowers were wilted and bruised and I was thinking that my wedding flowers were going to look like this but it was too late, the deposit was made so I just had to hope for the best. Duke was very patient with me this day and was showing me different combinations of flowers and was working them and reworking them until I got something close to what I was envisioning. I walked out of there feeling less than confident, quite honestly and hoping that my guests wouldn't notice the flowers so much. No one told me, "Your wedding day flowers will be fresh! This is just a brief visual." That would've been nice! But wait... come wedding day, we were FLOORED! The flowers were HUGE and SUPER FRESH and FULL and LUSH!!! The quality was unparalleled! The florists came in and started setting up and were done with time to spare! They even waited around until after the ceremony and moved a majority of the flowers into the reception hall that needed to be there. They came back that night and took everything down and left everything on an open table at my request for our late night guests to take on their way out. They were very professional. They were in and out, they knew what they had to do, they didn't need any direction. I couldn't be happier! The spaces we needed flowers for were of a pretty good size, our wedding had 140 guests with a ceremony area, a lobby and reception hall and for what we paid, we had flowers enough to fill all the open spaces! The flower quality was phenomenal, we got so many compliments on the flowers! The price was the most reasonable compared to all the rest! Duke is very flexible and will work with you to get you what you want within your budget! I got a quote from another place in L.A. County and I got quoted $1500 just for 2 flower clusters on the gazebo! That didn't even include hanging satin sashes! Just 2 bunches of flowers, that's it! That didn't include the aisle, reception hall, boutonnieres, bouquets or anything! We felt like we got the most bang for our buck with Commerce Flowers! And it showed! The last thing you want to do is pay $10,000 for flowers and have NOTHING to show for it! You spend that much and wonder, "Where are the all the flowers?" You expect to see them EVERYWHERE, hanging from the ceiling, in the bathroom stalls, out in the parking lot! We paid waaaaayyy less than that and got all the flowers we had envisioned! It was seriously perfect! We had flowers and sashes on our gazebo, flowers hanging from the trees, flower arrangements down the aisle, flower petals on the side chairs for tossing, flower petals down the aisle, flower arrangements at the sign in table, flower arrangements on the tables AND in the lobby as well as all our bouquets and boutonnieres and flower petals for the flower girl. We hired commerce flowers for our wedding. My flowers were beautiful, and they had great prices. My bouquet was amazing. The reason I am giving 3 stars is because there were a few hiccups. My daughter's flower basket came broken, it was falling over. The crown I ordered for her was huge. I had asked for a small crown and we weren't able to use it. Duke had told me we could use two centerpieces for our ceremony decoration and that his people would stay to move them inside after, that didn't happen. Very shady. I ordered my bridal bouquet set from this business after my husband's patient referred us to this place. I intentionally drove 40 minutes out of my way to give this place a chance. However, I should've run at the first sight of inconsistency. I guess I wanted to believe that they were honest mistakes. First red flag was not too long after the first meeting. Duke wrote down prices of the bouquet sets and also wrote down flowers that'll be in the bouquets. After the meeting, I was told that I will be contacted through the email, which didn't happen. I had to call the business to follow up. When I finally received an email, the prices were different from what he originally quoted me. I have the picture of the prices he quoted me from the first meeting. He definitely upped the prices and added 10% tax at the end. 10% tax!!!! Second red flag was when he invited me to visit again for a mini sample bouquet. I, again, put my schedule on hold to drive far, which I didn't mind since I was very excited to see my sample bouquet. However, the 'mini sample' was nothing but a few strands of flowers in a vase. Then they proceeded to tell me that 3 types of flowers they promised me were missing. Ok...so I drove 50 minutes for this?? I soon found out that this 5 minute 'mini sample' meeting was just to collect deposit, which they demanded cash/check for since they were giving me the CASH price. Really?!?! After 10% tax, you have the audacity to claim that you are giving me a discount?? Third red flag was when I had given them my credit card for them to charge the rest of the remaining balance. They charged my card 2 times!!! They kept blaming the credit card company, so I called my credit card company numerous times to get this settled. However, it didn't make sense since I never had issues with multiple charges on my credit card before. How convenient for this business to blame everyone else. At this point, it was too late to back out, so I just kept my fingers crossed and hoped for the best. Fourth and biggest disappointment came on the day of my wedding. When the bouquets and boutonnière were delivered, I noticed that the flowers that were promised to me were NOT included in the overcharged bouquet. Also, flowers were already wilting, boutonnières were less than flattering, and mothers' corsages were tiny. They definitely were not worth what I was charged. I was furious! I called Duke right away to complain, and he literally said, "the flowers didn't come in." Ok...so is it not their responsibility to tell me that they have to make some changes?? Also, I paid more for certain flowers. How dare they switch the flowers to cheap roses at the last minute and play dumb like I wouldn't notice? Duke said he would give me partial refund, but I know for a fact that NOTHING will be refunded unless I pester them for weeks. Stay away from this business!! My wife and I wanted our wedding to be our own from start to finish and that included interviewing more florists then I'm comfortable admitting. We just happened to be next to Commerce Flowers when we had our meeting with our wedding coordinator at the Starbucks right across the street. All I gotta say is that Duke Nomura does amazing work! His family has been in this business for generations (I was personal sold when he told me about his Japanese American heritage and how his family had to reacquire everything they lost), so he knows exactly what ask my wife and took detailed notes each time we met. Duke really goes above and beyond in that during our second meeting, he literally got the raw materials he thought my wife would like and made us full mockups of our centerpieces and "side"pieces - this was without any cash deposit. Every other outfit we talked to all told us they wanted something like 50 down or payment up front to get started on building us some samples! On our wedding day, Duke's team was on time (early) and competent. They coordinated with the hotel staff perfectly to get the ceremony and reception area to look exactly like how my wife imagined. I can only give Commerce Flower my highest recommendation. I'm sure our wedding coordinator kept their contact information in their little black book I see some negative comments about 10 percent tax and charging extra for non-cash transactions. Regarding tax, look it up; that's just how much it is in Commerce, CA. Regarding the fact that Duke doesn't take Apple pay, venmo, etc... all I gotta say is give the old guy a break. He puts in more hours than most people I've worked with and actually uses gmail and Google calendar just like any gen z or millenial. Be fair with him and he'll take care of your needs. read more

We didn't have the largest budget for flowers for our wedding and I was referred to City of Commerce Flowers by my sister's coworker because she had said they were a steal. When we met with Duke for our first consultation, he was very friendly, easy going and answered all the questions he had. He wrote out prices (which are very reasonable) for each item on a notepad and gave us an estimate (its pretty much the photocopy of his notes). They also loaned us some pillars for our ceremony flowers and weren't pushy about when they needed to be returned. Once we decided to go with City of Commerce Flowers, we came into see a sample of our flowers. We were only shown how the centerpiece was going to look. At this appointment, I was very happy with how the centerpiece looked but wasn't blown away (and I didn't except to be since our budget was what it was). I was also a little worried about my bouquet because there was no sample of that and was just told it will be beautiful/ They day of our wedding, our flowers came out better than I imagined. My bouquet was GORGEOUS and exactly what I wanted (white and dark purple cala lillies). I was amazed at how well it turned out. At our reception, the centerpieces were better and bigger than what we had been shown when we went in to see the sample. They had also thrown extra little flower arrangements that we were able to put to use at some smaller tables. The flowers stayed fresh well after our wedding - I was sad to have to throw them out a week later when we left for our honeymoon because they still looked so beautiful. While there was some confusion on when final payment was due and they seem to prefer cash payment - these issues are minor espeically after seeing how amazing our flowers were. read more

Partially also because I have talked to Duke and he sounded apologetic, he is also covering the cost of the bridal bouquet from the other florist when i ask him to... I originally also worked with Eddie from City of Commerce flowers. A couple months before my wedding, I was told that Eddie is out sick and since my friend had worked with Duke , I set up a meeting with him. Duke is really nice.. but he is also very forgetful. My proposal is just hand written , with whiteouts on it, sometime I feel like I should type out the proposals and gave it to him. I came in probably 4 or 5 times to the florist to make sure everything looks good. My first meeting with Duke, I showed him a picture of David Austin Juliet Roses (garden rose , peach color). I said I want this flower and it has to be this flower. He looked at it and said that it is Peony... ...... I mean really no.. it is not peony, it is david austin juliet.. I get nervous then already... but he told me to research on that flower and send the link to him... I did and he called me a couple days later to say he can get it.. I set up appointment to come in to see my sample. I came and they are not ready with my sample, they created it and not exactly what I want so I change things up (and they do have david austin juliet) and tada... my sample is ready at a great price... with the flowers i want.. ok great.. he also sent me home with the sample.. and the bridesmaid bouquet.. came in the third time.. to see my bridal bouquet... mm... i walked in, the bouquet is there but it is not what we agreed on.. it's all white.. i want colorful pink, yellow, green, peach.. no problem .. he fix it.. it looks great.. on thursday before my saturday wedding, i got an email from my planner to say that duke does not have the david austin juliet that i specifically order for my centerpieces (and thus increase the price of the centerpiece) and the bridal bouquet.. I FREAKED !! 3 days before my wedding you tell me you dont have the flowers that I DEMAND??? I called Duke and he said that he ordered them but the flowers come in yellow (not peach) and more of mellow yellow.. and I said ok sure yellow is fine, light yellow.. anyway I decided to come in to the store that day to finalize it.. I went in.. and the flowers are not even david austin roses juliet.. or any of the david austin roses that I knew of.. it looks like big deep yellow roses... :( I panicked... Duke said there is no way to get it.. there is a problem with the supplier.. he said he was trying to get pink garden roses.. the juliet was peach (I WAS FINE WITH THE PEACH and the samples had david austin juliet and I looovee them)... Anyway I was heart broken and had a mental breakdown at the store.. three days before my wedding.. I went back to my car and started calling other florist to see if they can give me my david austin juliet /garden roses bunch bridal bouquet.. The centerpiece I can live with.. the bridal bouquet I can't.. Luckily I got Holly Flora who is able to do my bridal bouquet with david austin juliet, I cancelled the order on my bridal bouquet from Duke.. The day of the wedding.. the flowers look fine from Duke.. still cant get me david austin juliet of course.. he also forgot a couple things that he said he will give for me at no cost.. by then i just have really low expecation from them.. My bridal bouquet from the separate florist was gorgeous, didn't even have sample made for me but it was perfect.. Lesson learned the hard way.. Sure city of commerce florist is cheap and they're really nice people, but they also write their proposals on pen and paper, and i think all these reitiration of proposals are the ones that create confusion and them missing things from my order.. Also not cool to stress out the brides 3 days before the wedding... even worse.. to give me samples/bridal bouquet of what I want and then NOT HAVE THEM for the real day.. ADVICE: if you are on a tight budget and not particular with your flowers, city of commerce is good for low cost option and if you dont care much about types of flowers or more general flowers (roses, hydrangea, tulips, sunflowers etc)... they are not good at all on the david austin roses/ any specific / un common type of flowers.... And while Duke is a nice guy, I don't recommend working with him.. it was really painful. I had to come in probably 4 or 5 times.. and call him again to make sure he gets it.. I came in to update a proposal and called him 2 days afterwards, he forgot all that we talked about already and didn't update the proposal.. So, two days before my sister's last minute wedding I realize that she didn't have any flowers. I knew that this flower shop made great bouquets at reasonable prices from Ruby & Wayne's wedding several years back. I had it bookmarked from all those years ago and called them to arrange some fuchsia hot pink bouquets and boutonnieres. The man that I spoke to was very nice, friendly, and professional for the phone consultation. They are located at a warehouse, but don't read into the location, they do really good work. Eddie did everything that he could to accomodate to our budget and gave us ideas we never could have come up with on our own. He sent us a free mock-up to show his work and that sold us. He was very easy to work with and is an all around jovial guy. He did a great job at our wedding, showed up on time and didn't miss a thing. They're affordable and do a great job and you get above and beyond for what your paying!! The price was reasonable (we paid $2200) and it included the gazebo's flowers on the pillars and top, 10 centerpieces/aisle pieces, 5 bouquets, 1 bouquet toss, and a few other things. Commerce flowers provided all of the flowers for our wedding. We were very happy with the flowers for the ceremony. However, my bouquet was not the one I had ordered!!!! I got stuck with a plain all red rose bouquet that I was not happy with because I had specifically ordered one that I had provided a picture for. The reception flowers were all what we wanted except that they put them in the wrong place. The tall ones were placed where the short ones should have gone. Also, they were a bit late because I saw pictures where our guests were already seated and workers were still placing the petals down the aisle. Overall, they are a good vendor to get but request that you don't get Duke (the owner) because he will confuse things and it is very hard to read his writing. We went to Commerce Florist for my little sister's sweet 16 and they were amazing! Duke the owner was very accommodating, professional, and helped us create amazing arrangements for the event. He worked with our budget and the finished product was exactly what we were visualizing. Along with our order he also provided an extra corsage and boutonnière and the delivery and set up was included in our package. Looking for a wedding florist can be challenging. The little boutique names in Beverly Hills are tempting, or the smaller mom and pop stores in your home town look pleasant because you want to help the local economy. However, the downfall of these types of places is that they charge way too much. What's so great about Commerce Flowers? It is extremely reasonable and has wonderful designs. I sat down with Duke and he draws out what to expect. He makes samples right there on the spot for you, even on your first visit. Plus they do at least 9 weddings a weekend. Who wouldn't feel comfortable with a company that can handle 9 weddings a weekend? Every time I have visited to finalize my floral decorations for my wedding I get to leave with a sample of something whether it's a design or just a bouquet showing color scheme. There are so many people working at the store. Plus, Duke makes you feel comfortable and confident that he and his team know what they are doing and will give you a good price. He doesn't need to jack up his prices because he books so many weddings each weekend. Another great thing is that he has an opinion and will help you think through your flowers and color scheme if you are like me and need a little help and guidance. Duke was really helpful and made our first meeting really relaxed and pleasant. Duke knew a TON about flowers and gave us recommendations for specific flowers when we said we getting leis from Hawaii. He knew which flowers would go well with the leis, he even drew a sketch of what he was envisioning, and told us we could see a sample bouquet a few weeks before the wedding if we wanted. Some other florists were unable to work with our budget, but Duke immediately said that he could work with our budget. They worked with us and we even went under our budget! We ordered two large arrangements for the front of the church, ten pew flowers, an aisle runner, 6 bridesmaid bouquets, 1 brides bouquet, 4 grandmother's corsages, 6 boutonnieres for the pastor, father, and grandfathers, and 10 vases to use the pew flowers at the reception. They were all really beautiful. The delivery went smoothly (they arrived many hours early!) and we just needed to return the pillars that the two large arrangements were on by the following week. The only drawback I would say is that nothing was computerized. They hand write everything so you can get a scanned copy of handwritten notes and quotes. Despite the handwritten notes, the order was fulfilled almost perfectly. The only thing that went wrong was we requested white pew flowers but we received purple ones (our colors were purple and gray so they matched the bridesmaid's bouquets and worked out anyway). Lindy and her team were a HUGE help in making our 1940's themed wedding a huge success! When we met with Lindy, I explained to her my ideas of having ostrich feather centerpieces in white, but also my concerns with budget. She listened to my ideas and ran with my vision, executing beyond our dreams what we thought we could afford, by incorporating orchids, and hydrangeas to fill in the spaces. With the lighting and ambience, the whole room was just amazing. We had long tables on the perimeters of the reception room where we had long planter boxes filled with flowers--just an hour earlier, those same boxes lined the aisle for my grand entrance to meet my husband at the end of it. And those beautiful centerpieces I mentioned were used during our ceremony as well surrounding us in a cloud of feathers like out of a Fred Astaire movie. In fact, many of our flowers were used for one thing and then moved to another when that space was no longer being utilized! What a great money saving concept! I ordered an arrangement yesterday and it came out beautifully! I was a little worried because it was for a special occasion and I was ordering at the last-minute. It was for a 90th birthday and the birthday gal is confined to a bed with feeding tubes, so when I placed the order over the phone I had no idea what I'd be getting. All I asked for was something to brighten up her room for her birthday. They suggested exotics because they last longer. When I went to pick up the order, I was amazed at how awesome and colorful the arrangement was! Commerce Flowers went above and beyond my expectations. Even after it had rolled around in my car during the ride from Commerce to San Gabriel, it was still gorgeous. I wish I had a picture. Prior to yesterday, I had stopped by on a whim one morning (over a year ago) to purchase two flower arrangements for my officemates. They turned out nice, but since I didn't order ahead of time, it did feel a bit odd because it seemed everyone in the store was working on a big event. I came here because it's super close to where I used to live, but I will definitely stop by again for other floral needs. read more

My husband placed an order on February 12th... Deluxe- Perfect Wrapped Long Stemmed Red Roses This order was to be delivered on Valentine's day to my company. My daughter called to inform the florist that I leave my workplace by 5pm and they must be delivered before then. It was noted by an employee. As this was to be a surprise for me... they (my husband and my daughter) contacted them twice during the day of delivery to check on the status of the order. The woman she spoke to was extremely rude and told her "You need to be patient because we have many orders that need to be sent out today." She explained to the woman that she requested they be delivered before 5pm and since they had not heard from me all day, she would like some reassurance that they would make it before I left. The woman then told her "You'll know she gets them, when she calls you and tells you she received them." Here are the problems I have: 1. My husband ordered Long Stemmed Roses, the wrapped bouquet was NOT "Long Stemmed" AND they were wilting. 2. The Balloon he added and paid for was not tied properly and flew away the moment the delivery man left. (which explains why he handed the balloon to me without holding the string.) 3. The delivery man arrived at my workplace @ 5:25pm, well after 5pm! (Fortunately, my department meeting ran over in time or I would have missed the delivery, as our building was nearly empty.) 4. Considering my husband placed his order 2 days prior, it should have been delivered in a timely manner, as it was not sent to a residence. 5. The lack of customer service etiquette of the employee's is unacceptable. They made my daughter feel like a bother and that their order was not a priority. You are a business that should be able to handle high volume orders, especially on Holidays. You should be treating your customers with respect and give positive reassurance when you receive status requests. You may want to encourage your deliveries to company's and business's a priority over residential, considering there is a closing time. We are extremely dis-satisfied with the services. I did however, reach out and sent an email, asking for compensation or even a genuine apology. The price paid was NOT equal to the service given. I received NO RESPONSE! It really put a damper on our Holiday as this business was highly recommended and we received Terrible service!!! read more
