Went here looking for Mexican food. Found an authentic place with good steak tacos. They do not accept credit cards.

Sundays special had a margarita cadillac for $9, which is a good deal, but I drink a little bit too much from wedding festivities earlier so passed on the drinks. After looking back on the menu, I now see they gave us the dinner menu when we were eating around 1PM because the item I ordered wasn't even on the lunch menu (the dinner menu has slightly higher prices assuming because they are usually larger portions). I ordered the Barbacoa burrito ($15.99), it was decent, a little bland though. I also wish there were more veggies incorporate. There was a small piece of lettuce covered in sour cream. My friend ordered the tacos al pastor ($15.99) which were nice and had a kick. They also did give chips and queso free of charge. I think it was queso at least, they just dropped it off and didn't tell us what it was but it was good. The servers were nice, but this area definitely has small town vibes because people kept accidentally mistaking me for someone who looks like me. It looked like this shop was pretty popular for the area. Seemed pretty crowded but not too crowded. The server said that the most popular item was the arroz con pollo, which is classic cheese chicken and rice (reminds me of my hometown Mexican spot go to since that's also the most popular item haha) They also have outdoor seating/ a nice separate patio area that gave me tiki bar vibes.

We were so happy to find this fantastic taqueria. This was the first place to eat in Hendersonville…read morethat we really loved. The place has a welcoming and very low-key atmosphere - but the food is top-notch! My companion had the #2 carne asada and I had the #7 chicken mole. Both dishes came with rice and beans and a basket of (4) delicious warm soft corn tortillas (wrapped in fresh towels) that looked and tasted like they were homemade and had been cooked to perfection - just the right proportion of crispy dark bits. At the counter there are add-ons - cilantro, limes, onions, red chilis and green and red salsa. The carne had a beautiful tang and depth of flavor - chunks of tender pork swimming in beautiful green sauce with green chilis and a heady heat that almost caused me to swoon - but there was no burn, just rapturous deliciousness. The mole was also lovely - the two pieces of chicken - breast and drumstick - cooked low and slow so the meat just tumbled off the bone. The mole itself had a beautiful velvety consistency and a craveable complexity of sweet, hot and savory. Wrapping these soulful stews in the accompanying tortillas with rice and beans and condiments made for a truly satisfying lunch after a day of hiking the beautiful trails of Western North Carolina. Thanks so much Taqueria Gonzalez!

Hendersonville is our new home base for travels to visit the daughter and grandson, who live…read morenearby. We prefer Best Western when we are staying overnight and a Mexican Restaurant attached is a huge bonus for me! The fiancé, not so much. My picky eater jokingly says Bojangles is his favorite Mexican food, but really he is not joking. No Mexican food for him, but he certainly allows me to be the foodie I am. On our one night stay, he got microwave bagel bites (his preference) and I ordered takeout from here. Step into the hotel lobby and proceed left into the restaurant for pick up. Had a nice little crowd, and employees eager to assist. I ordered the Two Amigos, one beef burrito topped with lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream, plus one chicken chimichanga, served with rice and beans, $14.99. My food was all bagged up and ready to go when I arrived. Got back to the room and they did not include utensils, so I proceeded back to the restaurant to get utensils. They were very apologetic. The food was good, nothing amazing, just good basic Mexican food I expected. We will definitely be back to the Best Western and I will definitely be exploring more of the menu at El Paso.

They served me a small tortilla with something piled on it instead of the usual chips and salsa that I still don't know what it was except delicious! Had a little trouble communicating with my server as I know little Spanish but this was a minor issue. The tvs were on a Spanish sports station, there was a bar with stools where you could eat, large comfy booths and rows of tables where it appeared you'd be sitting next to strangers when the place is hopping.

The deep fried chickpeas was something I never knew I needed. Nice location, good atmosphere, colorful chalkboard menu outdoor eating, nice staff. They have picnic tables and seating outdoors which was nice, though might suggest bug spray because the mosquitos were loving my blood. They also had some indoor seating, but cooler summer night, we had to sit outdoors. The tacos were soooo good. My favorite was the pork belly that went surprisingly well with the watermelon rind relish. The shrimp taco was classically deliciously and the lamb gyro was also very tasty. It was so hard to choose which tacos to order because there seemed like so many good flavors and different combinations. I actually wanted to try them all but my stomach couldn't handle it. My friend also ordered the cheerwine slushee and another order the margarita slushee which were good.
