Tried to check in and no one at front desk for over 30 minutes and it was 8:00pm. Toilet in lobby would not flush. Shady characters running in and out smelling of pot. Elevator not working correctly. Room smelt like smoke. Toilet in room hard to flush. Breakfast was terrible. Charged $178 read more

They have roaches. First night I encountered one roach in my bathroom the next night I three. It was unnerving for me. Glad I only booked 2 nights, either way I was leaving. read more

This looks like a newer property. We stopped here on a recent business trip, before the worsening of the current pandemic. ++ Spacious room Spacious bathroom Clean couch Bananas and yoghurt at the brekkie bar Clean shower - - Rock-hard pillows that are about 1' tall, impossible to sleep on them without breaking the neck The door to the stairwell that kept slamming, disrupting sleep Weak water pressure in the shower All in all it was a good stay, and I hope they keep improving and doing well. read more

Absolutely terrible hotel. For the price I paid of $300 for two nights I'm so disappointed. The window was broken so it never actually closed and let in so much outside noise from the street. Called the reception and there was nothing they could do. Several rooms on my floor seemed abandoned?? Door knobs missing, paint chips everywhere. I showered and honestly felt like I needed slippers. The shower had a brown stain all around the drain and up the middle. When I stepped out into the main area I was barefoot and the entire floor was covered in sticky residue... immediately had to go back into the gross shower to attempt to feel clean again. The first night of my stay I also went to brush my teeth and turning on the faucet water it spurted for a few seconds and then a steady stream of brown water came out! I wish I had my phone on me to record but after the shock wore off and I grabbed my phone the water turned clear but I never felt safe using it. Just used my water bottle. Another bathroom issue, the toilet water was also never clear. It constantly came out hued in a yellow color. I do not recommend this terrible hotel to anyone. Also figured I'd also mention that checking in was nice but checking out the front desk lady was busy flirting with another guy. Walked up and told them I was checking out and just got a simple, 'receipt?'. No how was your stay, thanks for staying, come again, any complaints? Nothing. Just 'receipt?' read more

Comfort Suites - Broken shower curtain holders. They don't even care - Hotels Near Me - Sanford, North Carolina

This is a tough one. The staff was very friendly and check-in was fine. But the hotel itself is not in the best shape. It is not the cleanest place, although sheets, towels and the bathroom were passable. There is rust on fixtures, dead ladybugs in the room with the ice machine and some issues in the hallways. But, there is not much to choose from in Sanford and we did sleep soundly. Breakfast options were decent and rates were more than reasonable. Would highly recommend a deep cleaning... read more

New Property. 4 floors, interior entrances, all suites, non-smoking facility. My king room was ample sized and included a sofa, nice microfridge and coffeemaker area, user friendly desk and office chair, and a large hdtv set. Free breakfast included hot items (waffles, eggs, sausage) as well as cereal and fruit. Very welcome addition to lodging in Sanford. read more

You don't have a great many motel choices in Sanford, and this one is probably as good as any, and maybe better than most. And yet when your stay there is over, you feel this, at best, was just ordinary, especially at $110 per night on the weekend, in Sanford. The room had a lingering odor, as did the lobby area. It is a noisy place, even when 3/4 empty, especially on the ground floor. The snack area was out of order when we arrived, and remained so. There was constantly only 1 person at the front desk, causing a wait for checking in or out, and securing answers to questions, etc. We stayed here because it was the best choice available, and frankly that is the only reason, and without a compelling reason, we'd not stay here again. Sometimes you just do the best you can. read more

If you're trying to decide whether booking your reservation between this hotel and Holiday Inn Express, I highly recommend booking Comfort Suites instead. My boyfriend booked this room last minute online though Hotel.com because our Expedia reservation was canceled by the Hotel staff (who are liars along with their GM, Angela Minnick whom allowed her staff discriminate and racially harassed me) at Holiday Inn Express. Holiday Inn Express broke Expedia's 'book now pay later' policy. I didn't even know my reservation was so called 'canceled' until I tried to check-in and pay at the time of arrival and the hotel told me they cancelled my reservation because they tried to charge my card before check-in and said it declined, then later blamed Expedia for the cancellation. Holiday Inn wanted me to rebook with them but I would've ended up paying more than the Expedia price. With so much frustration, my boyfriend simply booked Comfort Suites online through Hotels com, which is located down the street from Holiday Inn, and is also located in a much better location. We checked in with no problems and the hotel didn't charge my card until we checked in which was wonderful because they followed the policy of 'book now pay later' (unlike Holiday Inn). I'm am really happy that we ended up at Comfort Suites. The staff was was wonderful, and kind. Staff is very welcoming and the room was very nice. The best part was that the price was less than what I would've paid at Holiday Inn Express. Our King room at Comfort Suites was spacious, clean and quiet. Very modern with a nice sized TV and a couch. Breakfast was pretty good! I loved the variety of drinks and items they had. The breakfast attendant was so nice letting me know that more eggs were being cooked and it'd be 5 minutes, which I really appreciate. She even reminded us to get some drinks. Kind gestures go a long way and the kind treatment we received from the staff really helped my anxiety calm down from the mistreatment I experienced from Holiday Inn Express, IHG. I recommend Comfort Suites and would continue booking with them when we travel. read more

Stayed here for 4 nights. Decent cost per night, under $90 a night. Staff was super helpful and kind, but the rooms were really something else. My first room was clean and well made, but the AC didn't work right and I had noisy neighbors, so I moved to a different room on the second day. That second room had a broken toilet and was completely unmade (trash not changed, sheets / blankets not changed, soap / shampoo not replaced, etc etc), so I moved to a third room right after. That third room, also, had a broken toilet. Finally being moved to a fourth room, it was clean and made and had a working toilet and AC, but it smelled damp and faintly moldy. At this point I was so exhausted of moving my things room to room that I just settled into this room for the rest of my stay. Again, staff was wonderful, rooms pretty rough. read more

STAY AWAY! Terrible and unprofessional customer service. The worse experience upon arrival and attempting to check in. The "manager" Ominque was disrespectful and incompetent. Our reservation stated check in at 2pm. We arrived at 2pm and she didn't bother with even a greeting just looked at her desk and sígnaled 3pm. I showed her the reservation and she said the time is wrong in the rudest tone ever!! We cancelled immediately and took our business elsewhere. read more

Friday: checked in all ok. Requested quiet room away from other guests and elevators. Saturday: hair dryer in the bathroom broken. No hot water. Warm, but not hot. (Did not notify manager at this time) Had to wait for a new dryer then changed rooms due to screaming child running in the halls at 6:30 am. Sunday: No hot water again. Maintenance came up to check out the issue and proceeded to blame the hotel owner, other guests, made racial comments about other guests, told me to go online and give a bad review, then went on the explain that the owner isn't concerned with fixing up the property as it would soon be owned by Marriott and technically they have until December before their next inspection. According to this gentleman, I did not have hot water because "there are a lot of black people staying here right now and they like to take super hot showers. They are using up all of the hot water."! Monday 11th: Talked to the manager, Erica, about the maintenance person issue, she was very nice and said she would address it with him after I check out for safety reasons. Shower still cold when no one else was using the water on my end of the hall. Had manager come to verify water temp. I Had family come to visit and our plan was to enjoy the pool since the weather was too rainy for outdoor fun. The pool heaters were off making it incredibly cold, a window was opened sending a frosty breeze through the room and when we tried to use the shower to rinse off, those were FREEZING too. (I had verified earlier that they were working as it was my backup hot shower option until I check out. No such luck. Not even warm.) Shaky elevator WD-40 did not help. 7 year gap in inspection? Pool still cold Still No hot water Constant reprogramming of room keys Manager nice Housekeeping very nice Maintenance VERY RUDE! Most customer service was great, but facility has some seriously inconvenient and troubling issues. Called Choice Hotels customer service about stay experience and was offered 4000 reward points, $50, and told to contact an attorney about racist treatment. I refused because 4000 points isn't even enough for one night. Racist insults and broken amenities are worth a little more than $50. Contacted hotel manager, who agreed to refund half of my stay for the horrible conditions and instead my card was charged another $313 while attempting to "fix" the issue. This hotel currently has almost $1000 in hold on my credit card for one 6 night stay in a loud hotel with no hot water. One week later, the issue is still unresolved. Very disappointed as there are only a few hotels in Sanford and they seem to be owned by the same person. I highly recommend Airbnb for any future visits. For the same price as this hotel you can get a quiet house with hot water and no racism. I have two stars because the bed was decent and the yogurt was cold. read more

Hands down one of the best budget hotels for your money. All of the rooms are 100% smoke-free. There is a full continental breakfast including warm items, items to go and fresh read more

I wouldn't say this was the worst hotel I ever been in, but it definitely wasn't the best!! The room I was in didnt have a clock which was weird. The sheets were cheap and felt like paper. The heat worked well, so it ended up being ok. The tv had no guide channel, and most of the channels giving were out. The breakfast was horrible, but the location was great...you can get breakfast from many of the near by places. I mean, this is a 2 star hotel (which I never stay in...i usually do 3 and higher) so I want expecting much.... The people were very friendly and helpful though. Would I stay here again, no, but I would recommend with a warning if someone asked me their option. P.s I know my complaint were first world problems, but for a 120 night I expected a tiny bit more from this 2 star. read more

Ok here's what happened !!! Susan the person at the counter was the rudest person I have ever met.. when we went to check in she rudely stated that her choice privilege customers wanted a late check out and they come first ! So the rooms won't be ready for 3 hour.. that's fine but say it with some empathy AND SHE DIDNT .... when we finally got into our room we hung our clothes up for the convention we needed to attend.. At that time the Closet rod with our clothes on it fell on my toe which is now swollen and bruised!!!! Worst EXPERIENCE EVER !!! Your people need to learn manors read more

Sixth stay. Alas, probably our last. Not sure if management changed, but maintenance quality has gone downhill ... way downhill. As this is an annual trip for us, we book in advance ... two rooms next to each other, fourth floor, even numbers (so as to have a wooded lot view rather than the parking lot). When we arrived we were offered rooms on different floors on the parking lot side. After some discussion with the clerk, we were given rooms on the third floor, separated by several doors, but at least on the woods side. The front desk staff is helpful, smiling and friendly as ever. However, the maintenance is terrible. Remember we told you last year that the hot tub in the pool area was down? It is still down ... now covered with plywood. Someone spilled soda in the elevator the day of our arrival and the floor remained sticky with syrup during three of our four-day stay, having turned black from foot traffic by the third day. When we arrived, a guest was changing floors complaining of an odor. Well, when we exited the elevator on the third floor, the hallway reeked of cooked cabbage. Not sure what the source of the smell was (and it did dissipate by the next day). The carpet in our room was damp and musty, possibly from a less-than-effective shampooing immediately prior to our arrival. (We opened the window and turned on the HVAC to quicken the drying.) The exercise room was stuffed with equipment, most of it broken, worn or only partially functional. The breakfast area was neat and clean (we think maybe maintained by separate staff). We've attached a few photos as examples of the bad. Keep in mind, we are showing some of the worst, not the best. There are still pluses to this place (the exceptional front staff being one), but, for us, feeling icky overwhelmed the good. read more

The one star is because the beds are comfortable (and because zero is not an option). Besides that this is a hotel that is lacking everything I seek in a hotel. The lobby is drab and unwelcoming and the desk staff is barely welcoming as well. The pool is closed, the snack machines don't work, there's things sitting out in the halls. And the free "breakfast" is a joke. The 2 hot items...some Pre made egg and microwave sausage didn't even look edible, the waffle maker isn't working, so no breakfast for me. Not sure how they get away with charging $100+ per night for this dump. Must be due to the lack of options in the area. I actually tried to stay at the Holiday Inn express down the street, but unfortunately for me they were booked. Look elsewhere for a hotel in this area. Totally not worth it. read more

I have to say in all the years of looking at hotel reviews and making accommodations for others that I have never been so disappointed and frustrated with the outcome of my decision making. Read below concerning what happened when one of my Board Members stayed there last week: ...When I checked in I asked the front desk where the workout room was. She told me. I got up at 6 the next morning to run, but there was a sign on the door that said it was out of order. I asked the guy at the front desk and he said they were remodeling it. Would have ben nice if she told me the night before. A/C didn't work right but by the time I figured it out I was in bed, so I didn't report it. Went to take a shower in the am and it didn't work. The guy at the desk came up and fixed it... They should provide a full REFUND. read more

Well located, friendly and helpful staff, clean comfortable rooms...we stay here at least twice each year for a week at a time. The negative comments of others about this hotel do not reflect ANY of my family's experiences. The hotel staff is very stable--makes me think they like working here, happy employees work to make guests happy as well. I have especially high regard for Susan D. at the front desk--she makes things happen and goes the extra mile for her guests. As for the breakfast set up, Rose runs a nice clean operation. Selections of main hot items rotates daily and while not cooked to order are sufficient....includes wide variety of pastries and fruit. Pool house is ok, ventilation could be improved and the hot tub is inoperable and covered over....swimming pool is clean and well maintained (a pool is very critical to my autistic daughter after our long drive and visits with family who she doesn't see very often). read more
