We had high hopes for this hotel as it is very close to my elderly mother's assisted living…read morefacility. We checked in after 9:00 PM after traveling all day from Reno, Nevada. The bed is very comfortable and the noise level is low so we slept great. The breakfast is good with many choices and a sweet hostess, Sylvia, who makes you feel at home. As we went to get ice we were met with a sign that said 'Out of Order'. So we had to go to floor 2 or 1 to get ice. After staying there 7 nights no effort to fix the ice machine on floor 3 was ever made. We were interested in going to the hot tub but the sign at the front desk advised us the hot tub is not open. We were interested in the pool but the card reader was out of order so you would have to walk all the way around to get back in the hotel. The laundry facility on floor 2 was very helpful. Then I get a call from the front desk that they were advised by the cleaning staff that I had a candle in my room and that I needed to extinguish it immediately so as not to set off the sprinkler system. Ok, really? This is an older hotel with a cracked sink in the bathroom, a shower curtain that barely fits inside the tub, a musty smell in the room and I'm told I can't have a candle? The staff was good at helping us with administrative issues and we really appreciated their help but the rest of the issues are not acceptable.

This hotel seems a little dates with my 2 biggest complaints about the room being 1) sink did not…read moredrain well and 2) room did not stay cool. At one point, the heat kicked on for no apparent reason when I had my thermostat set for 72 degrees and it was 78 degrees in the room. The bed was comfortable, there was not external noise issue, and complimentary breakfast was good. I especially like the individually wrapped apples and fresh bananas. They also offer to-go breakfast bags that included a bottled water, flavor enhancer powder, an apple and a Nutrigrain bar. They have a convenient shop area by the lobby that offers beer and wine. ....| \ _ , , , - - , , _ , .../ , ` . - ' ` ' . _ \ - ; ; ; , _ ..| , a - ) ) _ . ; . I stay in Holiday Inns almost exclusively when I travel. My experience at this hotel was…read moresubstandard. They had friendly staff that were accommodating but there were a multitude of issues. Mostly housekeeping and maintenance. I had just come off of a 7 hour drive eager to relax. I check in and head straight to the bathroom. NO SOAP! Ok, a bit irritated but manageable. I happen to travel with my own soap. Crisis averted. Made sure I left a note for housekeeping. I was booked for 3 nights. I noticed it was a bit warm. Tried to turn down the AC, it was already set to 62, but was 74. The front desk said maintenance was gone for the day, but gave me a fan. Good thing it was only 80 outside. That would have been unbearable otherwise. Soap was not the only this housekeeping failed on. There were cup rings on the counter tops that had obviously not been cleaned. The kitchenette sink had dried pop from last occupant. It's the little things that get missed that makes you wonder what else that I can't see that was not cleaned. As I settled in, I realize these are the older and much harder mattresses. Some Holiday Inn locations have Temperpedic mattresses that are heavenly. Not much you can do but put pillows on top of these hard mattresses. Didn't help much. Very little sleep and a sore back. They got the AC fixed the next day. My second night on the bed was a disaster. My back completely locked up and I could barely move let alone walk. Had to cancel the rest of my trip and head home. The Second day at breakfast and the Pancake machine is still broken. Eggs are burnt. The signature Holiday Inn Express cinnamon rolls are non existent. At 8am the food was mostly gone. I almost skipped breakfast all together, but as I could barely walk. I need to stop and rest before I went to the car. I hoped breakfast might make up for some of the other issues...not. There's no way I can deal with those beds to I won't be back unless they upgrade.

As hotels go, this one is a dud. I only stayed one night but that was enough. I won't say that I…read moreoverpaid for my room, but there was nothing to recommend it either. The room seemed clean enough - the sink, bathroom, bed were fine - but the carpet was filthy! I ruined a pair of socks before I noticed, then I wound up wearing my shoes the entire time. Uncool, and it kind of creeped me out the rest of the time I was there. The towels were thin and kind of small but there were enough for me. I laid the extra towels on the floor between the bathroom and the sink so I could get back and forth between. The bed was clean and comfortable and the A/C worked really well but that still doesn't offset the nasty carpet. This is the style of hotel where all the rooms, upstairs and downstairs, open to the outside. They offer extended stays, and there were several guys hanging around the parking lot outside until all hours. They weren't rowdy, and I didn't feel unsafe, but it didn't put me at ease either. The lock on the door was good and solid. The parking lot is tight and laid out strangely. If you don't turn in off of Center Street in the right place you'll wind up having to go around the block and try again. I got in a jam between the swimming pool area and a Jeep that was trying to leave the lot. We were able to maneuver around without much drama but it just added to the weirdness. No complaints with the staff. They were friendly and my interactions with the front desk were pleasant. The breakfast was only OK. The coffee was just bad. I recommend you stay elsewhere. There are plenty of better choices in the area.

Even then, you can still hear the highway traffic...18 wheelers, diesel trucks, and muscle cars. It never ends. 24/7. I did not sleep the entire time there except for a few hrs. The next issue was the lack of hot water for a day and a half due to a cold spell and frozen pipes per the front desk. During the cold snap, my room just would not get warm no matter how high I turned the heat up. Breakfast was fantastic every day. Lots of quality choices. The people were friendly. No business center really. Just one computer at a desk. So there was no place to work at the hotel privately without tv's and music going. Not a fan.
