The caregivers are good people but the people that sit behind their desks at the company are terrible. They suck at schedules and they don't communicate anything to you so you never know what's going on. So many times have they stressed their clients or made them upset because they never communicated or scheduled anything right. No matter how hard you work here they don't compensate you for anything. The staff are petty and act like they're the ones doing all the hard work instead of their caregivers. This office needs to be remodeled before I would ever consider hiring Brightstar to take care of me or any of my loved ones.

They work very closely with the families to ensure a good schedule is working for the client. If there are issues with an aide in the home, the office staff works very quick and efficient to remove the aide from the home and find a better fit for the client. You will not be disappointed with Brightstar of Valparaiso. I would give more than 5 stars if I could!

It's great that there is no long term contract and we weren't required to pay for a minimum number of hours per week. They only billed us for when they actually came in. Mom really enjoyed all the caregivers who came to see her. It allowed her to stay independent for a little longer. I would strongly recommend Amada for anyone who needs a little extra help. We went to Bob Millers and he picked out appliances he wanted but Grant picked out appliances at Cloud Brothers. Grant does not like to communicate and when pushed he puts other people on hold does enough work to somewhat appease you then leaves you hanging to go back to the other job to finish up. I don't suggest using this company for ANY remodeling work. The equipment side is wonderful.

Having her return home was no longer an option; which led me to quickly get to up to speed on senior living options,mostly on my own. I found her a place & moved her in all before her release. While I ensured her safety, I second guessed my decisions as she vocally struggled to adjust; it was a lot of change particularly for someone who rarely left her home. Almost 6 months in, a different set of doubts & worries took over. Did I make the right call, could she live somewhere more affordable, would she outlive her money, etc. I don't even recall what search term led me to Senior Living Experts, but I'm grateful. Rebecca listened to my story and made me feel less alone. She thought where my mom was at was the best option in terms of cost, desired location and care needs addressed, but would do the research and circle back. We also discussed the care she received currently and provided a few suggestions. As promised, Rebecca followed up and confirmed her initial assessment. Yes, I'll still worry about her finances, but I now have a better understanding of the landscape and what comes should her care needs increase. I have been doing this for months and no one has ever said a word to me so I never knew this was a problem. Tonight a nurse was upset because my mom's colostomy bag broke and decided it was time to cause a problem. I understand it is a lot of work and a dirty job. So she tells the other worker to tell me. If I sit on the bed I need to leave. She cpuld have pulled me aside anytime in the last few months if there was a problem but she choose to make a seen right there in front of my mother upsetting her aswell. This was clearly over her being upset about the colostomy bag breaking as this was the time she choose to address the issue. I talked to the staff and they said well they have to have the beds cleaned whenever someone gets on them. And thats fine if thats the case all you had to do was pull me aside anytime in the last 2 months and tell me. I certainly would have understood that and I would have brought something in to sit on but the way she handled it was absolutely ridiculous. Please understand This is not a criticism of most of the staff as almost all of them are extremely kind and try very hard to do a good job and take care of the residents but this was about as unprofessional as it gets. They ladies at the desk handled handled things in the correct and professional manner. All you had to do was pull me aside and talk to me if there was a problem, Upsetting my mother and creating a scene on Thanksgiving because you are upset about a colostomy bag breaking is not a very professional way to handle things. On top of this issue they sent my mother to the ER and she almost died at the hospital. The doctors at the hospital said brickyard waited 2 or 3 days to long to send her to the hospital and as a result my mother almost died.
