We recently stayed at the Comfort Inn during our visit to Western Carolina University. This hotel was recommended by the staff at the university because of its location near campus which was less than 8 minute drive. When we checked into the hotel shorty after 3pm. Ira was so polite and helpful. He allowed us to check in early because our room was available. I requested a king size bed, upper level and away from the elevator on my hotel request and he was able to accommodate 2/3. I ended up near the elevator which is normally quite disturbing due to people getting on and off. It wasn't too bad this time. The room was fairly comfortable and clean. The bathroom was newly renovated and stocked with the essentials. The carpet had a few stains and a smoke odor which I advised the front desk and they apologized but didn't offer to move us to another room. The room adjacent to ours had occupants smoking which made it very uncomfortable and difficult to enjoy our accommodations. I went over to Walmart which is close by to purchase a candle and Lysol which helped a bit. Other than that I was able to get some rest. The next morning, we went downstairs at 6am for coffee and to grab a bite to eat. The breakfast area was nice and the staff was accommodating. There was a variety of ready made danishes, bagels and muffins as well a fresh fruit. Hot coffee, tea, milk and nice juice selections. Guests could also enjoy scrambled eggs, bacon, cereal or make a waffle. Overall, the breakfast was pretty good. I would definitely stay here again when visiting my son at WCU next Fall.

Check out the outlets underneath the table lip.

Truly outstanding! - Our stay was an unexpected one (involving the failure of my Prius's BIG battery) but we couldn't have been more satisfied. I got the impression this was a fairly new hotel. The front desk staff was exceptional - as was the guy staffing the breakfast bar. breakfast, incidentally, was unexpectedly good. I was surprised that this level of breakfast was included in the cost of the room. The room was immaculate. When I called Enterprise to rent a car (remember, our car failed us) - the Enterprise guy asked me about the hotel because he didn't know anything about it. I definitely told him it was a great place to stay. It really is.

    Clean king size bed.

The Blue Ridge not only welcomed us with open arms and a very reasonable rate for our group but they even offered to dry our wet clothes, so we didn't have to pack them wet. They also provided us with old towels to dry our bikes on Friday morning again going above and beyond the call. It was convenient to local breweries and to American Legion Post 104. I will definitely keep this place in mind when needing a place to stay in Sylva.

We booked 2 rooms for the night of October 20, 2022. The rooms had been improved since our last visit. Our rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and the constant fan on the AC reduced the street noise. The shower heads are low, so I had to lean forward to wash my hair, but not a big deal. The location downtown had easy access to the Jackson County Courthouse and we walked to Lucy in the Rye for a big breakfast. The hotel had coffee, juice, mini muffins, and yogurt for continental breakfast. For my job, I have flown to 90 US airports and stayed all over the country in many hotels, I have stayed in many hotels. The Blue Ridge Inn staff were all very nice and I would definitely stay here again!

In fact, if you were just magically dropped here, you'd never know that you were in North Carolina instead of Germany. Both the chalet itself, and the surrounding grounds and well maintained. The surrounding grounds are themselves quite noteworthy. There are tons of things on offer, from short hiking trails (complete with strategically placed romantic benches), badminton, croquet, and a wood firepit with a propane starter (no need to build a fire yourself). George was a perfect host, welcoming us and providing tips and directions in the area. He was a great source of information, whether you plan to visit the nearby Great Smoky Mountains National Park, or explore other parts of the surrounding area. He was also always eager to make sure that his hospitality was unobtrusive, and made sure that we felt at home and that we had our privacy. His thoughtfulness extended to the little things, like starting a fire in the fireplace in the common areas in the morning and evening to take off any fall chill. And add to the overall atmosphere. Our room was also great, with a larger balcony where we were able to sit and enjoy some wine from the Stube (an honor- system store located on the premise) while we sat at enjoyed the stars. Our experience staying here was great and I'd recommend it to anybody!

So I'll start by saying I stayed here four years ago and had an amazing experience. If I had left…read moreit at that, I would probably giving this place 5 stars. Seems like things have gone wayyyyyyyyy downhill since then. I emailed the first week of July asking for an October reservation of the same room I stayed in originally because I enjoyed it so much. I waited two weeks and did not receive a reply (it says on the submission form you are supposed to get a response within 24 hours), so I called back to ask about the reservation I requested. The person who answered found my form submission and told me they are currently having "staffing issues", so they were not sure if they were going to be able to accommodate my stay. However, he collected some additional information from me, including the fact that I have an infant daughter, and told me to call back in a week when they should know if they will have the staff to support in October. Another week goes by and I call back, only to receive a similar response - "we'll know in another week, but assuming we have staff in October, you are penciled in for [the room] you requested". I call back again the next and still, receive essentially the same information. However, this time the guy tells me that they should definitely know in another week and they will call me back to know. He verifies the information I had submitted, including the fact that I have an infant daughter. It is now 1.5 months since I requested my original reservation, and I had still had not received a call back. I call back (again) and am FINALLY told that I can go ahead and square away my reservation. The guy starts asking for details including how many people will be with me, as if this shouldn't already be in their previous notes. As soon as I mention I have an infant daughter, the guy tells me that they only allow kids 12+ and he's "afraid that that isn't going to work". What. a. load. of. crap. Thank goodness I am not looking to reserve a place for Columbus Day weekend in October because I would probably be out of luck. This place has become less a Bed & Breakfast and more of a Bed & B.S!

I'm sorry but there is NO way around what happened here!…read more I left for a poker tournament in the morning (15 minutes away). Ten hours later, I came back to the hotel and my door was propped open with all my stuff inside. I called the front desk and the girl told me it's probably because I added a night and they came in to change sheets or take out garbage. NOPE! No sheets are changed and no garbage was removed. In fact, the same guy that propped my door open for ten hours knocked on my door this morning and woke me up--failure of communication between front desk staff and cleaning crew. And how is that justifiable anyway! The girl didn't even care when I called her. If a hotel/motel leaves your door propped open for ten hours with all your stuff in there, it's an untrustworthy operation! And an invasion of privacy! And you could lose all your belongings. Imo, this is literally the worst infraction for any hotel/motel. DO NOT STAY HERE! And not to mention, hair in shower and hot water takes ten minutes to get going in colder months. The hotel is relatively clean with some minor issues in that area but losing trust is not redeemable! If you stay here, know that your door might be left open with all of your stuff available to others. Oh, and their housekeeping staff 'might' be illegals. I would bet strongly on it. Americans should have those jobs.
