gnats on lampshade

Location was the only thing good about this place. Room was dirty with many stains on the carpet and chair. Gnats flying all over the place. Smelly, dingy, dirty room. The front desk staff were rude, inhospitable, and we could tell they didn't like their job and took it out on the customers. One of the front desk staff became hostile and very defensive when I complained that we were not pleased with the customer service. On the room key folder, it states, "We are committed to being at our best...If you're not happy with your accommodations or service, please let the front desk know right away." Well I did that, but it didn't help. Actually made things worse. And the cost wasn't that great either. I should have stayed at a different hotel in the area. I won't make that mistake again.

Located less then 15 minutes from MSU. From all the choice hotels I've stayed at in the last three years, this has been the best one (although from the outside it's not as pleasant looking compared to others). The staff at the desk are welcoming and nice. The rooms are updated and clean. They give free pizza on Tuesday and Thursday nights, cookies everyday. Breakfast is like any other choice hotel. Tip: if you buy ice cream, they do allow you to use the freezer downstairs. Just ask the person at the front desk.

Got to the hotel and up to our room and the room was not fully cleaned. There were dirty dishes in the dishwasher, and finger prints on the stainless steel refrigerator. The worst thing was the floors - the grout is BLACK throughout the hotel. Absolutely filthy. You can see some parts up against the trim and in corners where it is a light gray and what the color should be. There were also visible stains on the carpet in our room. Tried to get the dishwasher going and couldn't do so. Ended up having to call maintenance who then had to call someone else. Our room was poorly stocked. No sponge, no extra toilet paper, no extra dishwasher detergent, no shampoo or body wash in the shower dispensers. At one point during our stay our kid got sick on one of the beds. We stripped the sheets and called housekeeping. They arrived quickly but when I asked for new towels we were told they don't have any more. I still don't understand how that is possible at a hotel. We traveled with small children and many of the kids channels on the tv did not work due to "no internet access". Chrome cast also didn't work. One of the two tv remotes was out of batteries. You really can just see the half hearted attempted to keep the place running. And possibly what they did to finish building. A family member stayed at the same hotel in a different room and she had a different shower head than us which had no water pressure. The furniture is bolted to the walls with L brackets secured to the outside of the furniture and the wall. We all showered and washed everything that was in the hotel as soon as we got home. Spare yourself and find a different hotel.

Very easy to book online and be sure to get a rewards sign up. We did a package that included pizza and pop, a chicken dinner at Zehnders, and a breakfast buffet for both mornings. The hotel is easy to spot next to Bronner's. The theme of gnomes and fairies is so adorable. Staff are awesome! They were so sweet to my daughter and us. Whether it was our waitress, lifeguards at the waterpark, or the front desk. We were able to check in early, so be sure to ask! Our room was one of the older rooms and was one of the ADA compliant rooms, which has larger doorways, no bathtub, a queen bed, and a seating area with a fireplace. The room decorations and everything in it are original. It's very desperately needs to get a facelift. The room was right off of the front desk in waterpark, so walking to the action only took a few steps. I noticed there is no recycling bin. There was a mini refrigerator, but the temperature control wasn't the greatest. Carpet was buckling. The seating area did have a pullout couch, but the couch itself was slippery with the fabric and pretty uncomfortable. Not sure how well house keeping was. There was a Nerf gun instructions paperwork behind one of our bedside nightstands. The water pressure was awesome. The bedding felt clean and the bed overall was comfortable. Housekeeping was able to give us a few more towels off their cleaning cart, which was nice. There is an arcade, but it's definitely not as big as the other hotel down the street. It's very crammed into one room. The pizza and cheese bread was absolutely delicious. Was not expecting that for a kid themed hotel. The breakfast buffet was plentiful, but the buffet items don't change. So the second day we were already kind of sick of the options. They do a nightly movie night in the lobby at 8 PM. If our daughter was older, we definitely would've snuggled up in the lobby to watch the movie. The waterpark was our favorite. Our daughter is just over two, and I was so surprised at how many things she was able to do. She even got to go on a waterslide with us, holding her to go down. Also, she was able to go down a waterslide all by herself, so she thought she was super cool! At the hotel down the street, there's barely anything for a two-year-old to do at their waterpark. She absolutely loved being able to wade in the water with the toddler pool going up to 2 feet. She also was brave enough to go under the big bucket that splashes. We stayed two nights and I think we went to the waterpark at least four or five times and she never got sick of it. There is a security checkpoint for the waterpark. Security will put UV light on your wristband to make sure it's not a fake also go through any bags that you're bringing into the waterpark. Do not bring towel towels, the waterpark provides towels for you. Additionally, they provide lifejackets. There are plenty of tables and chairs all along both water parks, the old side and the new side. The new side wasn't as toddler friendly. There was a small slide she could go down, otherwise there really wasn't much else for her to do. We had a great stay and I think with them updating all of the hotel rooms, I think Zehnder's is the place to be!

This truly breaks my heart to write because we have loved this facility for so many years…read more We have been bringing our children here annually (sometimes multiple times a year) since 2013. But recently in the last few years, we have noticed a shift (some things they may not directly have control over). But this past weekend was bad and we felt it was time to update our review to reflect what is happening now. From the second you walk into their lobby, throughout the hallways, seeping into the rooms, and even penetrating the waterpark areas, all you can smell is that legalized recreational product (I'm sure you can guess what I'm talking about). It's disgusting, lingering scent persisting everywhere. It clings onto your clothing, suitcase, EVERYTHING. And if you get a room that was previously occupied by guests who partake in that, it reeks of it for your whole stay! Adding to this, you can continuously find bandaids, hair and hair extensions floating in the water and lying around on the ground. Many children/teens are running wild (being very disrespectful) with no adult in sight. This place has lost its charm for us and it truly is sad. This was a vacation we looked forward to annually with our children and have created so many beautiful memories but sadly, it no longer does and then to add the price continuously increasing (which we knew would happen). If the smell of recreational products, filthy areas, and disrespectful guests is your vibe, then this is the place for you. What once used to be our favorite has sadly shifted over the last few years.

The first room I was given had hairs everywhere on the sheets, dirt smudges on the covers, and disgusting skin flakes everywhere. The second room I was moved to had hairs everywhere and little spiders in the sheets (see attached picture for one of the spiders I saw). I went down to the front desk and asked if house cleaning could change the sheets, or if I could be moved to another clean room. The front desk lady told me they had no house cleaning on staff at that time, and that she did not want to go up to the rooms and make sure the next one I got was clean. She then recommended I go somewhere else to spend the night. Management has refused to provide a refund, even though I did not spend the night and was essentially told to go somewhere else by their own staff. I will be disputing the charge but wanted to warn people of the service they may receive while they are here. I had an absolutely awful experience, am still trying to get my money back, and will never visit this location again.

Upon entering the room, you could tell this was an older hotel. The room was very bare and boring. The room was equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, satellite TV with a work area. In the closet was an iron and ironing board. The bathroom was supplied with two bars of soap, shampoo, lotion, and a makeup remover towelette. Overall, this room was fine for a business traveler, but I really wouldn't want to stay here with my wife. It's just a room, nothing special. With that being said, I would stay here again while on business.

However, no true British chippy would serve battered and shaped filets for fish & chips -- that was disappointing. I expected an authentic full-size, flakey cod or haddock stretched across a bed of chips with bits of crunchy batter everywhere. The filets were crispy and tasty, but not genuine English fish & chips. Our server was young and inexperienced (didn't know what a pale ale or IPA was), but was very attentive and cheerful. An older gentleman, who may have been the bartender, came to our table and gave us an oral history of the building, its owners and various quirks. The only drawback was all the stairs. It's not ADA accessible getting to and from the pub, where we had our reservations. There was a full flight of stairs to go down from the main floor. It was recommended that we leave through the back door to avoid the stair case. Outside, on the terrace, there were some low steps and no handrail to get to the path leading to the parking lot.
