We recently stayed here as it was budget friendly and had a kids pool area, which ended up being closed. But when we got to our room it was your typical run down hotel room but sleepable. We immediately noticed some damages that I brushed off as whatever, because I assumed they just didn't want to replace them yet, no biggie to me as that doesnt bother me. However, upon my checkout I was charged for those damaged items. When I tried to dispute it by calling, I was immediately transferred to the manager Rick, whom spoke over me rudely and wouldn't even listen to me, and when I tried to speak up he hung up on me. He now will not take my calls. I'm an honest person. If I damaged something that costs $150, then charge me, that's fine. BUT you will not be charging me for damages I did not create that existed when I arrived. Since they will not take my calls, I am filing a chargeback, filing a complaint with the better business bureau, and have already emailed their corporate office as well. I do hope Rick gets reprimanded, as its super unprofessional to hang up on a customer, and even more unprofessional to charge someone for damages they didnt create. I definitely won't be staying at another Comfort Inn. 0/10 Wouldn't recommend. read more

so the key cards never work in this place they're always out of order. So I go to the front desk right now and the manager is a super dick. He's telling me that my service dog is bugging the housekeeper hasn't done anything The dog stays right next to me. I told him look at the videos. He's going by what they tell me well don't go by what they tell you go look at the videos you have video cameras all over this place he's super rude Condescending don't ever stay here everybody anybody they don't clean their don't clean under their couches. The rooms are old and beat the lights Don't work in here. The fireplace doesn't work in here. The pool is out of service. The laundry facility is out of service. They want you to go walk two blocks down the road to go to your laundry. Fuck this place. read more

The only choice hotel in the area. Front desk staff are very nice. Hit breakfast a plenty. Quiet area. Room appeared clean. Mini fridge worked at the highest setting. Shower head spits water at you no matter what setting you adjust it to. We thought it was a little weird to find a plunger next to the toilet only to find out it is necessary for just about every flush. No screens on windows so even though the temps outside were nice we did not dare have the windows open at night as we could see all the bugs congregating around the lights outside in the parking lot. Might be worth the price if you take advantage of the mini waterpark pool area which we did not. Lots of restaurants in the area to satisfy your hunger. read more

So seven years later, we stayed here again and requested a King Suite. We really appreciated the spaciousness compared to the cramped quarters of our last stay; but the trade off was dated, worn, and not clean feeling furnishings. The mini fridge was adequate with an open freezer box. Dinner was from a nearby Cash Wise Foods deli. Microwave worked great for heating up what we bought. Motel bed height is a big deal for me and this one was 28" and manageable to climb in bed. I did not like the padded mattress topper and sheets which were not crispy cotton/linen. The topper made for hot sleeping and the thin (maybe bamboo) sheets kept popping off the upper corner and creating a wad (and in turn, the topper then wadded). Both sides of the bed had a night stand with lamp. WiFi worked great. The floor was uneven (we were in a second floor room by the stairs) and the floor bounced when one of us walked around. The ceiling either did or does leak as there were spots around the room of water damage and the wallpaper was coming loose at the seams. Breakfast bar was adequate - sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits & gravy, hot & cold cereals and milk, bread assortment, fruit, yogurt, juices, and the waffle maker. There were plenty of tables and the food set up was clumsy, but not in the way of people coming and going. And, bring your own plasticware if you can. The knife handles snapped in half at the slightest pressure, so cutting open a bagel or spreading butter resulted in a two piece knife. So, no help there. read more

We will check multiple sources. It's outdated. Shady clientele. We reserved a suite that stated it was a two room with a bed in each room. My husband has insomnia and we need separate rooms. Zero stars would be appropriate. The hotel was absolutely filthy. We discovered old food under the bed along with some sort of dirty food container. There was also what appeared to be blood stains on the comforter or poop stains on the sheets. The floors clearly had not been vacuumed in the room or mopped/swept in the bathroom. The toilet also did not function properly...took three flushes to work. When we brought these issues up to the general manager, who refused to provide his name, he stated that because we did not immediately (within 10 mins) bring this to his attention he would not do anything to rectify the situation (refund for that first night/discount of some sort). We did get moved to a new room....where we discovered used Qtips, probably several years old, in the heating vents, along with a shower that would not heat properly. In addition, we have several unexplained bug bites on our ankles. A thorough inspection of the room did not reveal any bed bugs, but unsure of where the bites came from otherwise. When I met with the general manager to discuss again, he became very aggressive. Slammed the table, stood up and got in my face, telling me it is my fault for not saying something sooner and refusing to provide any genuine apology or discount again. He also kept AirPods in the whole time and did not really pay any attention to me, or any guest for that matter. His lack of care or professionalism was appalling. He should not have a job. We were disgusted and disappointed by our stay at the Comfort Inn in Dickinson, ND on July 26-27, 2024. There is clearly a pest issue at this hotel and it should be resolved before people are allowed to stay there. There were roaches on the wall, a black bug in the bathroom under the bath mat, and a white bug on the bed skirt. I would never recommend that anyone stay in this hotel. It is dated, but you can overlook that if it is at least clean and bug-free. read more

Each summer, our family travels across country on a great American road trip. With COVID being at the top of everyone's mind, we needed to make some adjustments this year; it was more of a straight-through drive to my father in law's place in rural NoDak, with more desolate camping and fewer hotels. No indoor dining. No gas station restroom stops (we took our own portapotty... yeah.) Still, we enjoyed the beauty and resources of a big chunk of the USA, and experienced a wide-range of attitudes about the Rona in different parts of the country. So when we booked this hotel in Dickinson as a final stop before powering on to the other corner of North Dakota, we didn't quite know what to expect. After checking in, Mrs. Picante and I left the kids in the truck for a few minutes to go in and Clorox wipe everything. Neurotic, maybe, but the way I saw it, couldn't hurt. We got the doorknobs and fixtures, counter tops... that sort of thing. The room was definitely a "just passing through" sort of place, but clean. We opted for the "mini-suite at the end of the hall, so in addition to a king bed, there was a little Mini living room type area with a sofa bed, and the kids thought that was fun. On one trip to the car, there were a bunch of simple folks smoking just outside the door at the end of the hallway... yelling on the phone something about driving all the way down here and "didn't make parole." They were really nice though. Oh, and a two year old ran out of a room down at the end of the hall somewhere, but naked and crying, until (presumably) its mother came running out after it. Thankfully, she was clothed. Despite some of those "what time is check out?" unpleasantries, one apparent upside to this was the indoor pool area. It seems whatever expenditures this place didn't make on hallway carpet and parking lot paint lines went right into this somewhat ridiculous water park area. There is a huge water slide, a tropical themed wading area for littlest Uff'Dah's, and a mini ropes course over the other pool. There's a lot of chlorine happening in there so the Rona probably didn't stand a chance. Of course, my kids thought it was the greatest thing since Disneyland. Never mind that a raised drain grate cover is stupidly placed near the end of the huge slide, and two of my kids cut themselves on it bad enough to change our hiking plans in Theodore Roosevelt NP. Still fun I guess. Honestly, we'd make the decision to stay here again with that same crazy part of our brains that controls things like annual LA county fair attendance and forgetting to bring my cars in at night to avoid overnight parking tickets. But only because the pool was fun for my three little chiles. read more

I don't even know where to begin with this place. I'll start with the good: The price is reasonable. Other than that, it has to be one of the very worst Comfort Inns we've ever stayed in. It is totally unworthy of the brand. Let me just bullet point its many shortcomings: - no hot water - the room stinks, like burnt plastic or something - literally the cheapest amenities possible * I have never seen such a laughably bad coffee maker * the microwave could not have cost more than $20 * the refrigerator doesn't have a freezer compartment * the soaps, etc. are a mismatch jumble of cheap junk - laundry room is out of order - the floor is dirty under the chairs, etc - the neighborhood is dodgy and the parking lot is missing most of the light standards I'm sure I'll think of other faults, but you get the picture. I absolutely would not recommend this place, unless you just want to save money and don't care where you're staying. read more

This place screwed up my son's reservation as he and his friends traveled to college. On top of that, they didn't want to give him a refund. It took Choice Hotels getting involved to get them to finally agree to a refund. After a long day of driving from Colorado, my son, his friends and his dog and cat were forced to get back in their vehicles at midnight and drive all the way to Minnesota as there was no availability at any pet friendly hotels anywhere in North Dakota. The Dickinson, North Dakota Comfort Inn has the worst and rudest front desk customer service. They shine a very poor light on Dickinson, North Dakota. read more

We stayed here July 19-21 and half our stay there was no hot water!!!! Our keys suddenly didn't work early morning the same day as checkout.. the owner makes a big deal about towels from your room not going into the pool or there will be a $35 charge per towel, fine right? This place is always awesome! We were there again last week (the most recent of over a dozen in the last 5 years) and it was awesome! The lady behind the desk on the evening shift that checked us in was the friendliest, most professional, and most awesome person I have dealt with in the hospitality industry in a long time. She was spectacular with my kids - a joke was made and she giggled right along with them and secured her place in awesome history when she asked them about it again the following evening when she saw them. Complete with an award winning smile and a warmth that lit my boys faces up and made them feel like the most important dudes in the world at that moment. There is a new General Manager that was friendly, direct, open and honest about his intentions to have the best hotel in Dickinson - and I can tell you they are well on their way. Kids are always a fan of the pool and water slide and their facilities technician, Max, showed up to turn the temperature up on the slide for my kids which they loved. Max was friendly and took a minute to check in. Great continental breakfast in the morning as well- eggs, sausage, toast, bagels, waffles, cereal, muffins... all you need to start your day off right. Rooms are clean and as you expect. We stayed in the suite this time - which I didn't even know they had before - and it was awesome!!! Affordable, clean and equipped with a kitchen that had utensils and a microwave, full fridge, etc. We stay here every time - and it just gets better and better! Desk clerk said something and i said " excuse me " the reply from the clerk " i wasnt talking to YOU" THEN SHE GAVE ME KEYS TO AN OCCUPIED ROOM. She then told me that it was empty....like i was lying. I told her to go look for herself The " security" doors were anything but secure. Clean, quiet. Cons: poor follow up on issues reported. Housekeeping and some staff unable to speak or understand basic English. I urge management to teach employees just a few words such as coffee and towels. Lots of trash around parking lot, although not just Comfort Inn but other hotels too. read more

Absolutely horrendous staff. Could not help adjust reservations, and the hot breakfast was an absolute joke. No food available nearly their entire 6-9 hours, and the entirety of their selection was waffles and cereal. No bowls or plates for either, syrup was out for hours and batter was gone as well. The hotel should consider hiring snails because they would be faster than their current employees. After hours of refilling they finally had cereal and waffles but still no hot breakfast, never once any sign of eggs, sausage, etc. The trays just remained empty. When I arrived at 9:30, I learned (along with a lobby full of other disgruntled guests) that the hotel did not have any rooms available because the housekeeper called in sick with Covid. The clerk was very nonchalant and not the least concerned that we did not have a place to stay. Not only did she not try to contact anyone so that we could make other plans, the website was still taking reservations at the time she was telling us that she had no rooms. While lack of staff may cause a problem, this hotel did nothing to ameliorate the inconvenience to the guests who found themselves without a place to stare at 9:30. read more

First of all it's a cheap hotel so how can you complain when you're saving money. The breakfast was just OK. The hot tub was completely out of order and there was no pool area, just a couple of splash pad like water features and a waterslide similar to a kids playground slide. The lobby and even the first hotel room stunk like musty. Whatever that's fine it's a cheap hotel. But when we opened the fridge to put our stuff in, there was a package of lunch meat, broccoli like just the stalks were left (?????) . Automatically I basically assumed that the whole room was filthy just because of that. I complained and asked for a different room at first I didn't get it but then they called my cell phone directly 30 minutes later and said that they would switch the room. First let me say I will update if they correct their mistake. Made the reservation 2 weeks ago called and requested adjoining rooms due to having 5 young children and was assured we would have adjoining rooms. Fast forward to check in today not only are they not able to give us adjoining rooms our rooms aren't even next to each other. We are supposed to be here for 4 nights for our family vacation and my husband and I can't even be together. Not only was our reservation messed up but one of our rooms has a big water spot from a leak on the ceiling, the phone doesn't work, it smells, the window won't open (it opens in the other room) and the chair that's in every other room seems to be missing from ours. After speaking with the front desk lady I was assured she would talk to her supervisor in the morning and we would be moved to better adjoining rooms. Now we wait and see if that actually happens and I will update my review accordingly. read more

When we made the reservation the guy literally said we have queens not full sized beds. Lies. They are full sized, might as well put twins in and cut more corners. I have stayed here several times while in Dickinson for work. With only minor issues on one stay all visits have been good. The hotel is right on the interstate so you may get road noise somewhat. The rooms are clean, the property is clean and the beds are comfortable. The hotel definitely could use some upgrades, but it doesnt mean there are any issues. The staff is friendly and helpful. Far better stay here than the other Choice systems Property in town. read more

Ruined my 2 year olds birthday party! My husband, myself and my sister-in-law all called to book/discuss details of having my son and his cousin's combined birthday party. They let another party book the same party room and then started telling me I had to have a confirmation and that I didn't book it even though we talked to 3 different people to confirm. When we showed up we should've had a hint because we had booked a room by the pool with a king bed. They gave us a double twin room as far away from the pool as you could get. When we finally got a room somewhat close to the pool, the TV was unplugged and the shower had no hot water. On top of that, our friends who stayed there with us found pills on the floor of their room. Thankfully their kids gave the pills straight to their parents. read more

After reading recent poor reviews I wonder if this hotel has changed hands. Booked a hot tub room last week for a wedding gift. When they got there that night there was no tub. After I have called for an explanation of why I wasn't given a call so I could have got a reservation someplace different, I was told repeatedly that the owner Paul would be calling me back. ( No manager- only the owner) Once he was on the phone with the staff stating he would call and still nothing. Just more duck and hide from him. I never got a straight answer about the tub room. One said tub was broken, another even said the tub was taken out of the hotel and no more rooms with hot tubs and a third told me it was given to another guest . Done with them today. After what could have been a quick call to apologize and move on, I asked for a refund as the owner will not take any responsibility of ruining my gift. Staff called me back stating he will only take off 25%. I called Choice Privileges who took care of me and also lodged a complaint against this owner/hotel. Not sure what has happened to a really nice hotel, but we will not be back. Many nice hospitable hotels all within a stones throw of this one. All would make better choices then here in my opinion. read more

We wanted a cheap room and got it. Nothing about the room made us want to spend much time in there. Good TV with cable, but small and bland room. Very conveniently located. Since we were there to visit family and go to some National and State parks nearby, it worked for us. They have a nice indoor water park that the children staying at the hotel really seemed to enjoy. Continental breakfast ends a 9 (a bit early if you ask me) but they don't start cleaning up before 9 like some places. They even seem to wait to clean up/shut down if there are a lot of people still in there. Very nice of them. read more

They lost our reservation, then came out 20 minutes later to say they found it, it was misspelled in their system. They promised when we made our reservations the water park would be open, but it was closed and drained on our arrival at 8pm. So they basically flat-out lied and misrepresented themselves. My husband and I were driving back to MN from WA after our wedding and needed a room last minute. We were able to get the room through our Choice Hotels membership at a decent discount. Upon arrival, we were put into a Suite for only another $10! The room was awesome!! Huge king bed with tons of pillows and a down comforter. A Jacuzzi tub, separate living room and a fireplace. The room was such a great way to spend the evening for our last night on the way home. read more
