It's located next to Valley Hills Mall and there is so much within walking distance of the hotel. Lots of dining and shopping ! We were in town for a AAU basketball Tournament weekend Downtown. Our hotel was about 17 minutes from our tournament gym. We checked in Saturday evening and the front desk reception staff were terrific. I texted the front desk prior to arrival via the IHG app and Deirdra's response was very prompt with assistance. Our room was on the 2nd Floor, so it was perfect. Quiet, Non-Smoking and fresh carpet. This hotel smelled amazing ! We settled down comfortably for a restful night's sleep. I was really pleased with how quiet our floor was despite the property being located off a main highway. We went down to the dining area for the complimentary Breakfast Buffet at 8 a.m. and the buffet was plentiful. The dining room staff are amazing. My daughter decided on pancakes, a cheese omelette and bacon. I had breakfast potatoes, bacon, pancakes, a western omelette and coffee. Everything was great. I took an Orange to go for a snack. There was hot/ cold cereal, yogurt, bagels, toast and cinnamon rolls as well. I highly recommend this hotel for your family's stay in Hickory. I look forward to returning.

I find that they are consistent across the board and provide everything I need for a successful stay-this visit was no different. It was conveniently located next to several restaurants, shopping centers, and right off the highway. Maddy-the check in person was very kind. She offered restaurant suggestions and even checked on me later in the evening to make sure I was satisfied with my room. I loved that the room had an Ethernet cord on the desk-such a nice added feature for those working remotely who need it. I would definitely stay here for future stays.

I like the layout, with cabinets I can open to see everything I have, or close to hide it. This works a lot better than drawers for me. I found the bed more comfortable than Hilton's for some reason. The staff here are absolute gems - helpful, knowledgeable, kind and welcoming. Their service made my time here exponentially better!

I wasn't sure what to expect from some of the reviews but I was warmly greeted when I arrived and asked what welcome gift I wanted. I chose the breakfast voucher. I was provided a bottle of water and given a layout of the hotel and even restaurant recommendations. The clerk saw that I had a feather free room request so put me in a feather free room on the 4th floor in the Dogwood Wing. So this saved me from sneezing all night and was much appreciated. The hotel is older but my room appeared updated and was clean. I could tell it was well maintained. The hotel is far enough away from I-40 that I did not hear any highway noise and got a wonderful night of sleep. Noise did start in the morning from construction next door but that is out of the hotel's control and I was awake at that point. So it didn't start too early. My room had a mini fridge and microwave. The water pressure was good. I liked the safety grab bar in the shower as I did almost slip on the PVC floor when it was a little wet. The hotel has a pool and hot tub as well as an exercise room but I wasn't there long enough to use either. I didn't care for the breakfast but service was friendly. I will skip that on my return visit on Friday. I was originally booked at the Fairfield as the Marriott site wouldn't let me book just a night at Courtyard but when I checked again it did. Since I was concerned with traffic noise I decided to do another night here as I enjoyed my stay and felt welcome by the staff. Second Stay: Check in was friendly but I wasn't given a bottle of water. I was put in the Cardinal Wing on the top floor and could slightly hear the traffic at times but the fan covered up any noise. The hotel was full or almost this stay so there was hallway noise and someone woke me up at 7am, so more soundproofing would have been appreciated. But I do like this hotel and will return again.

The main reason I recommend this place is the location. You can walk to downtown to restaurants, coffee, ice cream, bars and other shops. Everything just a quick walk away! The path that goes next to the railroad is the Hickory City Walk. It's pretty nice and illuminated so we felt pretty safe walking back and fourth. The room was pretty nice and the bed was comfortable. It had a queen size bed, a mini fridge, tv, coffee machine and mugs. The floors aren't carpet so it was great! The bathroom was nice but the shower could use more pressure. They had towels and toiletries available. Our room was on the bottom floor and my husband said that you can see movement inside the room from outside because of the window when the lights are on so it needs a better window cover for more privacy. There are free parking spots next to the Inn but for some reason we were told to use the one across the street next to the Warehouse 18. Some of our friends parked in front of the Inn and it was fine. The Inn is next to the railroad so you will hear the train. When we stayed there, the last train we heard was around 9/930pm so it didn't bug us. There's a common area with a kitchen and tables. We didn't use it but it's cool that they had it. The air conditioning is central controlled so you can't change the mode. They have extra blankets available in the common area if you get cold. Overall it was a good stay. The location is really the best! Definitely coming back here next time I go to Hickory. Some walking distance recommendations: Breakfast: Taste Full Beans or Notions. Dinner: Vintage House Lunch / Bar: Olde Hickory Station Dessert: Carolina Crafted (they also sell candles) For kids: Lowe's Foods City Park Other recommendations: Food: Mas Amor Cantina, Charolais Steakhouse, Boca, Fourk, Standard Oyster Co (they had NC oysters for $1). Utterly Delicious Homemade Ice Cream and PuttPutt.
