We showed up without an appointment and after sitting down with Realtor Mike Moss to discuss what we were looking for in buying a house in SLO, hired him as our agent. Mike was very patient working with us as we were not yet focused on a specific area in the county. After many months and trips to view potential houses in Los Osos, Morro Bay and SLO, we finally narrowed the focus on SLO City. We then toured various neighborhoods until we found a couple of areas to really focus on. Mike was patient, thoughtful and helpful all throughout this process and when we found the house for us, he was instrumental in our plan of making a successful offer and getting us through escrow. Can't say enough about Mike and how professional and personable he was throughout the process. He made the stressful process of finding and buying a home so much easier! Highly recommend Mike Moss and Comet Realty! read more

It's a shame that such a beautiful house in a great location was rented out by someone so incompetent. I wouldn't recommend renting with Courtney Huckabay under any circumstances. This realtor does not fix house appliances when regular maintenance is required (ice maker, dish disposal, etc.), communicate in a calm and direct manner, or know how to do math. She managed to mix myself and another one of her tenants up when giving back house deposits which ended up in me being shorted $1,000. Her solution to this problem was not to correct the problem she caused, but told that other tenant and myself to "venmo each other to make it right ourselves." However, this was not a problem caused by us and should not had to have been solved by us. read more

I would never recommend renting with Comet Realty under any circumstance, especially if Courtney Huckabay is your realtor. Over the two years that I rented a property from her, she was unprofessional, uncommunicative, rude, and overall unhelpful. When I moved out, she messed up the deposits between me and my roomate, resulting in large sums of money being sent to the wrong people. During my time renting through Comet Realty, Courtney yelled at two of the tenants over the phone for calling with some simple questions about the property, demanded we renew our lease in a very short amount of time, refused to fix two of the appliances that came with the house, and refused to help after making mistakes concerning our security deposits. If you are thinking of renting through Comet Realty, I would suggest you seek elsewhere, or at least stay far away from Courtney Huckabay. read more

Comet Realty was always a pleasure to work with for my stay in San Luis! I needed a place to stay in a pinch from a relocation, and within a day, Hayley was able to show me the place I'd eventually be staying in for a year. Interacting with the team was always pleasant and my rare maintenance needs were addressed very promptly. Overall it was an awesome time! read more

I am soooooooo incredibly grateful for T.J. and all the hard work he gracefully demonstrated during the purchase of our first home. For a year we looked at properties, discussed financial moves, chatted over dinners, exchanged countless group texts, shared tips and tricks and continued to have faith that we would find a home to purchase in SLO county. Travis came through! If you are looking to work with someone who will be transparent and honest with you, he's the guy! Thank you Travis for making this entire process enjoyable and rewarding. read more

I used Comet Realty Property Management for over six and a half years. It started out great with Haley but after Travis H. started managing my 3 rentals 3 years ago, I started having problems and it just got worse the last 6 months until I decided to change management companies. Some of the issues were: -slow response times -changing formats for monthly ledgers and rental owner statements. In general, property management financial reports are confusing, that was why I hired an accountant to help me check things that didn't add up and contradicted what I was told and what the statements said. And sometimes balances didn't match up. I was told that the balances included all the properties but sometimes it looked like they did and sometimes the amounts couldn't possibly include all the balances. - failure to collect the increased amount of a rental extension for 6 months. I wasn't notified of the change in the rental extension agreement, either. - delay in the inspection of a rental unit when there was a change in tenants and a delay in returning the keys to me. -discrepancies in security deposit ledger statement balances - when inquires were made, I received generalized responses that didn't answer the specific questions. I have to admit, they knew I was changing management companies so I didn't feel they cared about explaining the discrepancies. -failure to transfer the correct balance to new management company by being short on the security deposits. Not surprising since the security deposits weren't consistent in the statements or their responses. - no explanation was provided after being asked 3 times why a rental payment was short $300 one month. So, if you want to use them for your property management, I recommend that you get everything in writing, no verbal he said/she said agreements, monitor and calculate for yourself all the ledgers and rental owner statements, and ask questions in writing whenever something doesn't make sense. Hayley was an excellent property manager when I lived in San Luis Obispo. She is very responsive and quick to help with any questions or requests we had. I would happily rent from Comet Realty, and specifically Hayley Townley, again. read more

I visited an apartment that, Comet was renting. I was given some information about the utilities. When I received the lease, it didn't match the information that I was given previously. Comet refused to refund my application fee. Booo! read more

As a retired Peace Officer, my wife and I have resided in San Luis Obispo county for the past 30 years. We have been super happy to call this place home and have raised our four children. We have owned several homes over the years, but found ourselves in a season where given the volatility of the market, we wanted to rent. Anyone who has attempted to rent a home on the Central Coast could testify the demand for quality housing far exceeds the supply. Having said that, we discovered a beautiful custom home in the heart of Arroyo Grande, managed by COMET REALTY. The owners, Tim & Hayley Townley are amazing! They are polite, professional and treated us with respect. For the past 7 years, we have been proud to call them our "landlords" even though they were managing the property for a home owner who lived out of the area. When something in the home broke, Tim & Hayley consistently had the repairs completed in a timely manner by a licensed professional (including the back yard fence, several plumbing repairs and appliances that came with the home). When it came time for a site visit, they provided us with ample notification and worked around our schedule. Without reservation, we would gladly rent from COMET REALTY in the future and if I had a home that I wanted to rent, I would want the Townley's to be our representatives as our property managers as it has been my experience that they would represent us well. We went looking for a realtor to meet our unique needs and we found that and so much more. We cannot say enough wonderful things about Comet Realty, Tim, Haley and their staff. Their work is done with honesty, integrity and most importantly, considering your needs first. They are extremely responsive, flexible, patient and always happy to work with you. Whether you are buying, selling or managing a rental property, these are people you can trust that will provide you with exceptional service. We have now used them to buy and sell our homes, it's so great to find people you can trust. read more

We had a great experience working with Brian Gust at Comet Realty. He is super-responsive and, based on our needs, found us several properties in the area to look at. Through his efforts, we were able to find a home that we loved in Arroyo Grande. Brian made the buying process easy to understand and helped us navigate the necessary steps (offer, inspection, appraisal, financing, etc.). My partner and I would highly recommend him for his great service! read more

Worked with Comet Realty for thirteen years as a renter. Haley was always communicative, kind, prompt, and receptive to any issues that arose in a fourplex over a decade and a half. When I'm ready to buy a home I will definitely come back to Comet Realty for help in that area read more

Comet Realty was the property manager for a rental house I lived in for two years in San Luis Obispo. I cannot thank them enough for providing such a reliable, kind-hearted, attentive, and all around wonderful experience throughout my first rental process. Hayley is just the best! She is very responsive if any problem arises. When the pandemic affected some of my home's employment, she was incredibly understanding and ensured our rent would be affordable during this hard time. Hayley even helped me secure a new apartment when I was ready to move! You cannot go wrong here. 5 stars all the way! read more

I had a great experience with Comet Realty & would highly recommend them when looking for a property management company in SLO. Layne was my property manager for just over 2.5 years and also helped managed us through the property sale process. She was very informative, friendly & thorough when educating my wife & I on our tenant rights and abilities. Not to mention how responsive she was to our needs. She always gave us ample heads up when service appointments were scheduled on the property & communicated to us each step along the way. Not an easy task for anyone involved in a tenant occupied property sale during COVID however we were grateful for Layne's above and beyond service to us. All protocols were followed & she was very reasonable throughout the entire process. THANK YOU! read more

The only good thing this company did was not respond. Ended up with a better house, I appreciate your negligence.

Rented a house through Comet Realty in San Luis Obispo and Hayley was my landlord. I cannot say enough great things! Hayley was always very quick in responding to any questions or concerns I had, and would promptly schedule repair appointments for any needs I had. She made the entire renting process a breeze from start to finish, and is one of the friendliest people I know. Would highly recommend renting through Comet Realty and Hayley! read more

Tim is awesome! I highly recommend working with Comet Realty when buying a home. My husband and I moved to San Luis Obispo from Seattle and were familiar with the market (so we thought). Tim sat with us, listened to our wants and expectations, and the next day, we were off looking at home possibilities. After a couple of showings, we narrowed our search and found our beautiful retirement home near our grandchildren, with a low maintenance yard, and within our retirement budget. Thanks Tim. read more

We worked with Tim and Hayley at Comet Realty to purchase a rental unit when our son started school at Cal Poly a few years ago. They worked with us to understand exactly what we were looking for. More importantly, they used their extensive knowledge of the local San Luis Obispo market and property management experience to guide us into a purchase that has been a solid income generating investment from the first month. We were so pleased with our experience during the purchase process that we decided to have them handle our property management services on an ongoing basis. We've found them to be responsive and straightforward with a good dose of humor thrown in to keep it interesting! They are always willing to provide information and advice, even for other real estate matters not related to our SLO property. It definitely feels like a relationship and not just a transaction. read more

Hayley Townley is a miracle worker! She sold our home to a cash buyer in less than a week and we got what we wanted. We are out of state and in the middle of moving so when our renter said she was leaving at the end of the month we were overwhelmed. Hayley listed our home on a Monday and sold it the following Friday. She helped us with the cleaning and located a carpet cleaner. She was there to help every step of the way and reduced our stress immediately. She always answered our calls and emails in a very timely manner. We cannot recommend her enough! read more

This is a company of scammers, they took twice money for a rental application from my son and my wife, and didn't even bother to answer the phone after the application was submitted. read more

Whether you are looking to buy or sell, Comet is your company if you are looking to work with reasonable, knowledgeable, professional, and down-to-earth folks. What makes Comet different from other Realtors is that they are honest, competent, honest, fun, honest, and did I mention HONEST? I have been through the home thing a few times now, and I was glad to have Tim and Hayley Townley representing me. I never felt they were trying to sell me something that was out of my price range; or something that was right for them and not for me; or something that would not meet my needs. They were attentive and listened to our requests, likes and dislikes. We are now in a home that is an absolute dream. Okay, for those of you that think I'm exaggerating, it's 12 blocks from the beach, has first and second floor views of the ocean, a separate (not to mention HUGE) master suite, and that's just to mention a few of the things we love about our house. We will don't ever plan on selling this place (it was a great deal for what we got). Even if we have to move from the area, we know we will always have the perfect home to retire/return to when we are ready. My first experience was in selling my home at the beginning of the downturn of the housing market in 2006/2007. I thank my lucky stars for Tim and Hayley for their smart and professional handling of selling my house. A lot of properties were still not sold more than a year later and it only took them three months (beginning in December, which for all of you know is not a particularly good time for selling property in a downward market) to get my house sold. It was due to their savvy and knowledge that they were able to move the house and get it sold for a fantastic price. read more

Comet Realty (Keith) has been managing my rental for 1 year now, and they are simply fantastic. From the initial visit to finding a tenant to actually managing the property, they have been timely, professional and a pleasure to work with. I also get the impression that they treat their tenants with respect and are looking out for both renter and tenant. Recommended! read more

If you are looking to purchase property on the Central Coast, call Comet Realty. I yelp'd (is that a thing? newby here) and contacted Tim 3 years ago. We're closing on our third rental next month. Had a great showing with Hailey one of the realtors and was told I would be contacted after they showed it to one more group. I never heard back and was ghosted for five days even after making follow up attempts. Hayley Townley of Comet Realty is amazing. We listed our home in Arroyo Grande with her and purchased our next home in Nipomo with her help. All along the way, Hayley was there for us, giving us advice, answering all questions throughout the process. She is completely respected by other brokers, loan agents, escrow companies, and repair people. Whenever I called someone and said Hayley referred me, they snapped to attention and gave me the BEST service. The whole double move process took six months, during which time Hayley helped us avoid a big mistake, steered us to our new (perfect for us) home, sold our large home to the right buyers, and kept us sane throughout the process. And she can also let her hair down and laugh a ton when appropriate! Thank you Hayley and Comet Realty! read more

I was looking to buy a home in the Pismo Beach, Shell Beach, San Luis Obispo area. Hayley from Comet Realty came highly recommended and SHE DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! She is an expert in her market. She listened to my likes, dislikes, goals, budget, timing etc. We toured 5 - 7 homes and I literally could have purchased the first home she showed me! She is well versed in the school districts, neighborhoods, hospitals, shopping districts etc. We also needed to facilitate a 1031 Exchange and she had all of the expertise in this area as well. I highly recommend Hayley for all of your real estate needs on the central coast. read more

We have just completed our second property purchase with Hayley at Comet Realty. Not just a great business relationship, but tremendous fun! Hayley is tireless, extremely smart and knowledgeable about all things real estate - homes, rentals, investments, leases, tenants, crazy clients like us. She knows everybody you need to know. She knows where to look, what to look for and how to get it. She took very good care of us in a difficult transaction the first time around, found us our dream house, way beyond what we had hoped for. Then she found us a fantastic investment property, easy, painless, the best possible experience. She really, really cares. 100% confident, 100% professional, just the absolute best. read more

Worked with Comet Realty these past few years on a home we owned. Upon hiring Hayley she completely turned the rental experience around in a positive way! Any questions (by me or the tenants) or problem was taken care of in such a timely matter we were blown away at the professionalism both Hayley and Tim showed us! Recently, we decided to sell our property. Hayley and Madison took on the challenge and got us a very fair price in a short amount of time! We could not be more pleased with their work and appreciate them enough to say I would not use any other Realtor in the San Luis area! read more

If you're looking for personalized service and a true ambassador to the greater, San Luis Obispo area, look no further than Hayley Townley and Comet Realty. Upon a visit to Morro Bay, Hayley took my husband and I on a 4-hour tour of a large chunk of the county. She knew that we were thinking of relocating to the area, from Chicago, IL. Since we were pretty ignorant of the area, Hayley educated us, thoroughly, about the different towns, price points, pros & cons, job opportunities and where to buy the best, roadside produce! I bought my house in 1999, Hayley from Comet Realty took me around to houses in the San Luis area for about a year (she was VERY patient with me). As a single mom with 3 kids I needed just the right place for just the right amount of money. When we found just the right one she walked me through every step of the process (I still chuckle when I think of "press hard 6 copies.") As my kids grew up and moved out I began thinking about downsizing, this time Tim was my house guide. They both are the most amazing people, so kind and so knowledgeable about the business, and to put the icing on the cake, they have the best sense of humor too! Perhaps I abuse my client-Realtor privileges but I still call them for all kinds of questions and they never hesitate to help me. Thanks Hayley and Tim, Comet Realty totally rocks! read more

Realtors. Property management. Just the words alone can cause churning in the pit of your stomach. Unless you add Comet Realty. Then everything changes. They take the stress out of the entire experience AND make it fun. If I had to choose five words? Honest, integrity, knowledgeable, dependable, and you know they are on your side for the entire process. (OK that is more than five) It doesn't HAVE to be stressful and Hayley and her team prove that. Yay for Comet Realty! read more

Tim has been a pleasure to work with in helping us purchase our future retirement home in Los Osos. Tim was responsive yet patient and gave us an honest assessment on whether homes were overpriced and areas to avoid. Tim and Hayley are both fantastic Realtors on the Central Coast. They have been the Realtors for my wife and I for several years and after we purchased three houses with them we have determined that there isn't anyone better than them. They're truly exceptional and have a vast amount of Central Coast market knowledge. I wouldn't want anyone else to represent me in a purchase or sale because they simply get the job done and will not let you down. Their level of customer service, determination, and work ethic surpass the other Realtors we have used in the past and I look forward to using them again soon. Thanks again Tim and Hayley - you guys are the best! read more
