The restaurant is an old home decorated with antiques in a style reminiscent of Cracker Barrel; old pictures, tools, and antique gadgets fill the walls. One room is like stepping into a small country store out of the wild west. Another room has wooden fencing, saddles, and lights made of old wagon wheels. The music ranged from traditional mariachi to a smooth big band slow dancing style. A true delight! The food is traditional Mexican: tacos, enchiladas, and all kinds of delicious Mexican delectables, served by a friendly staff, and accompanied by a fantastic salsa! Bathrooms are small but clean. This is a great place for families, small groups or even a business meeting. I highly recommend Mina Vieja!

We ordered some shareable dishes because we were a lot (party of 16 people) such as guacamole, Mexican discada (a typical dish from northern México made of sirloin, bacon, ham, sausage, chorizo, bell peppers, onion and tomato), skirt steak, shrimp and fries. Every dish was served with grilled onions, jalapeno pepper (also grilled) and refried beans with tortillas to make tacos. As I told you at the beginning of my review, we were a lot of people so the waitress and the crew of the place were so kind and quick at serve and always attentive to what we needed. The price is fair, the ambiance is good and the service also good. My only recommendation is that the chairs are too big and heavy to move and this might be a bad thing.

In my opinion they taste better with everything, plus the black salsa they have in the tables (like a very strong soy sauce that its great with steak meat). They also have tacos made with this meat. Now, another thing you need to know is that in the north of Mexico, like Chihuahua, this dish is for breakfast, but it can also be good for an early lunch.

Wanting a pizza and salad and not speaking Spanish, I took a stab at ones that looked good on the menu. The pizza was the crust I like, thin, almost crackery. The one I chose had a salsa on it as well which had a good taste but unfortunately made the crust flimsy. It had a good taste but some others I saw coming out of the kitchen looked crispier and were therefore probably better. I wish I remember the names of what I ordered. The salad on the other hand was delicious!! I ordered it as an add on but it ended up being the star of the show and I finished it instead of the pizza. On the lettuce it had grapes, tomatoes, bell peppers, a cubed cheese, salami, cranberries, and a salsa as a dressing. I wasn't sure that would work as I usually like ranch but the taste was tremendous. salsas were not too spicy, great tastes. The staff was helpful. Pricing was on par with the area, maybe a little overpriced but not crazy. All in all worth the trip if in the mood for Italian.
