We were…read moregoing to be there for a few days, so I had an opportunity to do a mid-trip inspection on our travel trailer. I was shocked to find that a couple of the spring shackles were worn to the point of imminent failure (five year old trailer). There's no way we would have made it back home without an immediate repair. We made contact with a trailer outfit in New Braunfels - the owner took a look at our issue and thought he could fix it. He said to bring it in the next morning. When we showed up, the owner wasn't there. We waited for about 45 minutes - when he did finally arrive, his story changed completely - he said he couldn't help us, and that "we'd be fine to make it home." Desperate, we made about 10 phone calls before we happened onto Brian at Specialty. We brought the trailer by, and he said he could probably deal with it the following morning "if his guys showed up." Sure enough, I called him first thing, and he said to bring it by. Backed it right into his shop, and an hour and a half later, all of the spring shackles were replaced and we were ready to roll. Gave us great peace of mind for the rest of the trip. It's really hard to find vendors like this nowadays. No one else could or would help us. His guys did a great job, and the price was amazingly reasonable, considering it was somewhat of an emergency. I'm running a job in the area, I called from Los Angeles before I flew out to find ladders I could…read morerent for the project that would take about 5 days. A couple places had one ladder and I needed two. This location told me they had (2) 8' step ladders and the price was fair. I said I would be there next week when I start my project. It's not the closest place but I need 2 so I left my hotel and made the long drive, in the rain. When I arrived the gentleman at the counter said " we don't rent ladders". I can't tell you how angry I was but what can I do? Now I'm stuck buying ladders for my project because I don't have time. I'll be abandoning them on Saturday.
