That means the cheapest accommodation you…read morecan get :) Sometimes when people say Venice they may mean the places on the mainland, like Mestre, Marghera etc.; Yha hostel Venice (http://www.hostels.st/en/italy/venice/hostel-yha_ostello_di_venezia/index.html) is in Venice city center on the island of la Giudecca and 5 mins by boat from San Marco Square; Once you get either to the railway station Santa Lucia or the bus, car station Piazzale Roma, take the boat # 42 direction Giudecca and stop at Zitelle; this youth hostel has more than 250 beds! Unfortunately (or fortunately, depends how you see it) they don't have mixed dorms so you will be accommodated in a whole male or whole female dorm. The price for a bed in the hostel starts from 21EUR, not too bad for Venice ;) Enjoy Venezia, the gondolas, the food and the romance!

"No, I just could not find this place on my map." Soon after I heard people talking and dogs barking. I walked towards them. One of the men (the hostel manager) asked me, "Are you Irene?" Finally, I reached the hostel! He kept asking me this, "Come! Make a photo of the big dog and the small dog." He has a cute white Chow Chow. The sign in front of the hostel was very small. The address shown on www.booking.com website was not accurate. The hostel looks like someone's 3 bedroom flat. The reception area is very small. There is a kitchen and a bathroom. The kitchen and bathroom were clean, though not up to my standards. There were 3 single beds and luggage lockers in my room. The room was warm, duvets were provided. No breakfasts provided. The kitchen has no microwave oven. I had to use the radiator to warm up my overnight pizza! I saw Raphael's cherubs painting on the kitchen wall, near the stairs to the upper floor. I once lost a similar painting of these cherubs and had been looking for this painting all these years. I was eclectic to see these 2 cherubs again. The cherubs gazed in wistful contemplation. We all should... I paid €24 per night for the stay. Please note that guests will have to pay for additional city tax €3 per day, bedsheets and towel €5 per stay per person, total of €11. Check-in: from 10:00 until 23:00 Check-out: from 08:00 until 10:30 I checked out before 10.30am but the hostel manager was no where to be seen. So I left my keys at the reception and took a photo as evidence.

What i liked: - location - clean (despite some sites claiming bed bugs) - walking distance from most major sites. However no high rating because: - i only stayed 2 nights and had to move beds one time. - one of the guests made a scene at 2 am in the dorm: completely drunk and keeping others up. - it is at an area with lots of nightlife, and no sound isilation. So stays noisy till well after midnight. Not suitable for light sleepers. Probably better for those who love nightlife than a "morningbird".

We had a private double with en-suite and had no complaints. The man on reception was friendly and provided us with a map and marked some of the places of interest on here. This was a massive help during our stay as all the roads look the same and we needed it to navigate! There was no noise from the other rooms (not sure if dorms are seperate from privates though). Rooms were clean and we had a pretty good view. Bathroom was fairly small, but again clean. Don't recall this hostel serving breakfast although there are so many cafes in Venice you will probably want to get out there and try a few out! Would recommend if you are after a brilliant location and are not fussed about 5* rooms. Booked through hostelbookers online and had no problems.

There is no AC when it is 90degrees Fahrenheit daily, all of the bathroom…read moredoors locks either don't work or lock you in, the staff stays up till 1 in the morning screaming and yelling while blasting awful music outside, causing most of the residents to not be able to sleep early. Not to mention how rude the staff is, constantly kicking residents out to clean and not being kind about it at all. My third night here, a girl was locked in the bathroom for 4 hours and no staff was available to help her. This place is not the worst in Venice, but it definitely is far from the best. Avoid staying here if you can.
