New Vietnamese restaurant located on Bergerstrasse. There are actually already a lot of Vietnamese restaurants around here but after seeing how crowded it was, we decided to give it a try.
As a Vietnamese myself, I've tried a lot of different so-called authentic Vietnamese restaurants. To my surprise, the menu is not overloaded with only a couple of starters, salads and signature dishes.
My boyfriend and I decided to go for the salmon and duck summerroll and springrolls as starters. The duck was better than the salmon roll. The salmon had a unique smell to it, didn't fit right with the dish itself but the dipping sauce (tamarind and coconut) was good. The springrolls are basic, could have had more diverse ingredients which would make it more authentic (only had glassnoodles, carrots, a little bit of meat, maybe sweet potato).
For the main course, I had Pho bo and he had tamarind marinated beef with rice. I told him beforehand that it could be sour because of the tamarind and it was indeed ... too sour. The beef was delicious though.
My Ph bowl looked good. Some herbs were already added and not put aside (many people might not like it). However, the soup was really sour to my surprise. The beef was delicious too but the meatballs tasted like someone put some random meat and fat pieces together to not waste food, very chewy.
I felt like the restaurant might not be suited for my Asian tastebuds because my Vietnamese friends also said the food was not too authentic. The servers were very nice though.
I give it 3 stars and think that it can still improve. I would still try the food again after some time. read more
