I hardly ever just randomly pick and point at something on the menu like I did with the Ga Xao Lan and I'm glad it worked in my favor this time. My dish was fantastic and I'd gladly order it again. My husband had the Pho Xao Ba and his was also delicious. Only small complaint was this was on the smaller end serving size of summer rolls but they were really good and I'd be willing to try the other summer rolls they had on the menu when we come back. We'd both gladly come back here.

They provide an English menu if you ask--I ordered the lotus root salad since I wanted to try something different than my usual green papaya and I was very pleased by this less familiar version. It still had the same vinaigrette tang, aromatic fish sauce and chopped peanuts, but the long julienned slices of lotus root were a surprise from the flower-like cross-sections that I had expected and very satisfying to munch on. I also ordered the special crispy duck on curried bed of roasted (really, caramelized) vegetables including eggplant, sweet potato, green beans, onions... This came with a heaping bowl of rice. Totally delicious and memorable--the duck was crispy on the outside but not greasy inside. I couldn't tell if the eggplant somehow caramelized by its association with the sweet potato, but it was all so delectable. This was a lot of food for one person even for a gourmand like me. Two German men entered and on my recommendation ordered this same entree and shared it and likewise really enjoyed it. I'm sorry that I hadn't taken any photos but the presentation of the food was well done and well portioned. (I think I might have been served a half small duck in the entree and for only 18 Euros.) It appears to be family run with focus on excellent quality of food and modest decor. To be honest, this beats out the Vietnamese restaurants that I've eaten at in NYC and will remain embedded in my memory and taste

Where to even start with this one?…read more Unique location, great setting, friendly staff, tasty food, and a bit of fusion makes this quite the find in an area filled with Mediterranean restaurants. This restaurant is best approached on foot, to work up an appetite. Right across the street from a sightly park of greens, this restaurant is very much a sight for sore eyes(and hungry tummies), and very specifically Vietnamese--with some fantastic fusion. The interior was decorated with a lot of vietnamese style decor which immediately reminded me of fancy vietnamese restaurant. Beware the flies--which a traditionally a neighbor to vietnamese restaurants--that are attracted to the strong scents of vietnamese food. Staff was friendly and speak some vietnamese if you are into that. Both my girlfriend and I ordered a beef based dish--mine being a more traditional dish and hers a clever fusion--both ended up being very delicious. I ordered the Bo La Lot(beef wrapped in betel leaves with vermicelli) and the other, a Banh Bao Burger(burger wrapped in traditional vietnamese "buns"). The beef was delicious( even compared to the quality of vietnamese food back in California specifically). The Bo La Lot came only with 4 pieces sadly [priced accordingly] and mostly vermicelli--btw the traditional vietnamese sauce nouc mam is on point(with a decent amount of chili). The banh bao burger had a yummy patty and came with some sweet potato fries and amazing spicy dipping sauce of its own. We also ordered a Banh Bao to go. It was made half of just buns but taste wise did taste like a traditional Banh Bao I'd recommend any newcomers, tourists alike!

Let's say 3.5 stars, leaning towards 4 stars. By Frankfurt standards, this is place is pretty good…read more I had ordered the beef pho, which tasted fine. They gave me the tiniest slice of lemon though--and mind you, I typically use at least a 1/8 of a lemon for pho. No big deal, I asked for more lemon and they brought it. Odd thing was that I was given my bowl of pho, but it wasn't served with the traditional soup spoon. I was about to eat with the standard metal spoon (and braced myself for possibly burning the hell out of my mouth on said spoon), but spotted the coveted soup spoon in my friend's serving of rice, which I immediately took. Anyway, the deep fried rolls were good (appetizer). I had also ordered a Vietnamese pancake--not so good as it had too much coconut milk, in my opinion. All in all, good place for Vietnamese in this city. Though I wasn't necessarily blown away, I'll likely be back.

It doesn't matter if you don't speak german, because so far my bravery and curiosity has only led to new culinary highlights. I highly recommend the salads, but beware, they're nothing like the usual european salads we're used to. Food marked with pikant (spicy) and scharf (hot) should be ordered with care, because it can be very hot indeed. Most of the main courses are accompanied by different vegetables which aren't meantioned in the menu, and a sufficient amount of rice. Unlike other asian restaurants the vegetables aren't overcooked, and the meal itself isn't overspiced or full of fat. In my opinion one of the best restaurants Darmstadt has to offer.
