It was showing the recovery mode screen at times, other times it was stuck in a loop repeating Apple logo, horizontal flicker, dark. I was very worried about what I may have lost, and I couldn't imagine waiting to get home to try to get it fixed, because phones have become such a necessary part of air travel. I had done some googling on the hostel's computer and it looked potentially hopeless but I took my phone to iFixIt just in case, because of the great reviews they had. Within a few minutes of me getting to the store, the attendant opened the phone and showed me my Home Screen again! What a wonderful sight! He said that he had seen this situation before and it was due to moisture getting in through that horizontal opening at the top of the screen (in this case probably from putting phone inside bra on a very hot excursion), and he could fix it by swapping out a part. I was shocked, as none of my googling had even mentioned this as a possibility. He gave me the option of letting him try to restore the part and preserve facial recognition, which would take a few hours. I said sure, and walked around for a while. As it happened, this was not possible, but I got my working phone back! I couldn't have been more surprised or pleased. I highly recommend this store! Thank you, iFixIt!

El Mac the very best repair shop for all Apple products in the world!…read more Summary: very competent, fast, inexpensive, simpatico, extraordinary outstanding! My MacBook Pro didn't start up anymore. Called the Apple support who gave me an appointment at the repair shop Doctor Clic who said it would take 7 to 14 days to analyse the issue, and that they would call me. They never called. I had to call in. So, when I called them after 2 weeks they said that my hard disk is faulty and needs emplacement. For replacing the the SSD and restoring the data from the faulty SSD they would charge me EUR 375 ! I collected the MacBook and bought a new SSD and tried to install the OS myself. It didn't work so I gave it to El Mac elmacbarcelones.com. who straight away told me that the MacBook model is known to have issues with the hard drive cable. A day later El Mac called me and informed that the issue is caused by a faulty cable and that he will replace it. It was ready for pickup the same day. He charged me EUR 70 for replacing the cable, installing the OS on the new SSD and transferring the data from old SSD. EUR 70 opposed to EUR 375 at Doctor Clic... I wish I'd consulted El Mac in the first place. THANK YOU SO MUCH El Mac! You are a champion! I recommend you go to elmacbarcelones.com. You will save time and money. Ojalá hubiera consultado a El Mac y no hubiera ido a Doctor Clic. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS El Mac! ¡Eres un campeon! Te recomiendo que vayas a elmacbarcelones.com. Ahorrarás tiempo y dinero.

These guys told me what the real problem was and were able to fix it while I waited?! Plus instead of its costing me €700+ it was an easy under €50 fix because they spent their time looking at it and making sure they were correct with their diagnosis and how to fix it, they assured me it wasn't what the other two stores had said it was and now my laptop runs perfectly! Alberto at Doctor Clic was the first person who actually opened my computer to confirm that it was not repairable, yet told me that the memory was intact, and that for 49euros, he could transfer the data from my old device to my soon-to-be-purchased new Macbook. Today, I finally received my Macbook, dropped my computers off at Doctor Clic, and a couple of hours later, Alberto called me and told me all was transferred. Hooray! My brand new Mac now had the cluttered messy desktop as the old. When I opened Safari, all the tabs were as they were on the late Macbook Pro. New device, old memories. I asked for the memory storage, to serve as an emergency backup, and left the carcass for recycling. And this should serve as a reminder to make backups to an external hard drive more than once a month... Especially after having downloaded and updating my accounting software... Jeez. I coulda just used my external hard drive... but noooo... That darned cat. My fault for leaving my laptop plugged in and on the same table as a vase of flowers.

The location is great, overlooking Plaça de Catalunya, you can't miss the large Apple logo. The store is modern and comfortable and features everything you'd expect to find from a large standalone Apple Store in a big city - it features the latest Apple Tech from iPhone to iPad, from MacBooks to Apple Watches, as well as a "Today at Apple" section as well as plenty of places to sit down, which is handy if you want to relax for a little while sightseeing, or simply to charge your phone and hop on the WiFi. It is set over more than one floor, so it can be a little tricky to work out the layout at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's nothing to worry about. I didn't find the staff at this particular location to be as helpful or friendly as other Apple locations on both my visits in 2017 and 2024. 4*
