I am enrolled in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program here at Columbus Tech. I've had a bit of a ride since I started, but it's owed more to my inexperience in college rather than the school itself. I've had some great instructors and a couple of weird ones. Mr. Crumpton is great for BIO 2113 and 2114. Mr. Valentin is the best Medical Terminology instructor of ALL time. I'm so ready for Summer quarter to be OVER. :) read more

Columbus Tech takes a long time to process information and communicate with you. Some of the staff are unpleasant to deal with and don't help you. Generally speaking, Columbus Tech's staff is more pleasant to deal with and is more helpful in comparison to other schools. If you're a student, I recommend coming to Columbus Tech. If you're going to work at Columbus Tech, make sure that you communicate with your boss and you both meet each other's expectations, so you won't have any sudden or negative outcomes. read more

The material is there if you know how to teach yourself, but the staff and "instructors" here are little more than cubicle rats and Yes-men. These people do not have the training or the interest to teach other adult human beings, and it definitely shows. To start the academic year off, Financial Aid and the VA Office failed to communicate properly for weeks, resulting in thousands of dollars being delayed for almost four months. Three of my classes were repeated/dropped due to classes not being held at their scheduled time (ending an hour early), instructors unfamiliar with their own material, or "slideshow teachers" - i.e., adults paid to read a PowerPoint presentation to other literate adults. One class in particular, Interpersonal Relationships & Development, saw three different instructors in one academic year before it ran itself into the ground. My major, Automotive Technology, crashed and burned about two-thirds of the way through, when CTC changed their attendance policy and people realized they'd actually have to show up for class if they wanted to keep their free money. Classroom numbers dwindled rapidly, and the lovely people in my department reacted accordingly - by cramming the remainder of their students into two shop garages and leaving them to fester as they tea-timed in their office. "Team projects" devolved into babysitting gigs, where the most responsible/devoted team member played mommy to a bunch of man-children. The actual class material for the Auto Tech program was barely that, with your $100+ book(s) being paperweights as you fried your eyes in front of a PowerPoint for two hours. Lunchtime trickled by, then you went back to carrying your "team" until someone came in and dismissed everyone for the day - leaving you to clean up the messes of 12+ grown men. There was no guidance, no one there to supervise or, in the least, corral the rowdy teenage students disrupting shop work/behaving unsafely. The salt in the wound came when I was asked, out of nowhere, for $40 to graduate. I was never made aware of any end-of-program fees a year and a half ago, and it really stung to have paid over $1,000 for an education I never actually received, only to be billed for a piece of paper I thought I'd been paying on this whole time. read more

This place is only out to collect as much Hope money as they can get. So called students taking one program after another. Try taking classes where 75% of the people in the class have no interest in learning anything. They are only there to get the "refund" after they get a pell grant doing with hope money. Go over and take a look the day after the refunds are issued. The place is like a ghost town they are all absent and spending that free money. What a scam read more

Good school but very greedy. They charge a steep price for tuition yet cheat some of their hard working employees. The college is smart ,like most Republican owned companies, by keeping the employees at or under 20 hours a week so they don't have to pay their health insurance benefits. It was so sad to hear this from one of their employee who came in to our out-patient clinic. read more

This place took over 6 weeks to process my loans to the point that Sallie Mae thought I had dropped out of school and charged me fees. When I called the offices I was told FOR FIVE WEEKS that my loan would be done the following week. For five weeks. How can any organization ever be this disorganized. The staff seems to genuinely not care about the students. It's like if the DMV was a school. Worst of all now I have hundreds of dollars in fees and the registrars office is telling me that they don't update Sallie Mae. SO AM I SUPPOSED TO DO ALL THE WORK FOR THIS STUPID SCHOOL? Do yourself a favor and go across the river to CVCC. Their staff is friendly and hardworking and knows how to run a school that doesn't screw over the students. read more

Painfully inconvenient. Like a lot of other "businesses" they are using Covid as an excuse to avoid students. The advisors and program coordinators NEVER answer the phone. It's funny how Walmart and McDonald's can accommodate their customers, but this "college" can't figure out how to serve people without spreading the virus. read more

Columbus Tech has a few competent teachers but they also have a few who are questionable when it comes to teaching. Mr. Habersham is one who is questionable. One assignment he merly copied and paste a lot of nonsense and no one could figure out what he wanted and everyone could tell it was copied and pasted and everyone was complaining about the same thing. Students should not have to talk among themselves and ask a classmate to explain an assignment. When you get a grade you expet the teaher to tell you the reason for the grade beause it helps when you when you get in the work force, but he can't. My father is retired military 25 yrs. and I know the govt. would be suprised. You expect a teacher to know what they are doing. read more

I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone that relocates to Columbus. They do not provide financial aid for out of state students. Also, you are not entitled to a refund of any size if you drop a class after the 3rd day. I've never heard of anything like that. Oh..... don't plan on going to the math computer testing lab during the scheduled hours. The school is having problems with keeping it staffed. It's possible that the lab won't even be open, and you may have to test in an another class while a professor is teaching. This place is a waste of time. read more

I am in enrolled in the spring semester. I Came across an unusual issue. Columbus Tech deliberately set it up were students were not allowed to withdraw from a class. This is wrong and illegal. Their purpose is to keep students money. Even if you are passing a class a student should be allowed to withdraw from a class at any time. read more

Good tech school! There are some great teachers here who really care. No place is going to be perfect. Part of being an adult is learning how to get over that fact. This isn't my first college, I've been around the block so to speak. This isn't my first college. Life is what you make of it. Also I have had no problems w/ financial aid and everything was handled fairly quickly. 2017 current student. read more
