This was my first experience with anything mental health-ish. I have to say almost all the staff was very nice. I probably got helped, my depression was/is situational, not chronic, so it's hard to tell. BUT this place is run terribly. I got charged $3200 A DAY, when the average place is 740-2000 a day. For this price: *The food was yuck. Out of 6 days, 3 meals a day, they had maybe 5 good meals. And I am not picky. The ones that were lived on cereal. *They don't even give you a plastic knife, but sometimes serve chicken breasts or a pork chop? I ate with my fingers. Come on, people, did you ever hear of a cook book? There are recipes for cut up meat! *The cafeteria was filthy. I actually asked for a cloth and wiped the tables down. And the same stuff was on the floor day after day. I think they are under staffed. The food line took so long that the last people only had about 15 minutes to eat. *The rest of the place was very dirty too. One big clump of hair was out in the main atrium for 4 days at least. I took a used towel, wet it and wiped our room all along the walls where you could see the dust piled up. *We had the overflow from the detox ward and the psych ward. There were some really crazy people. Which is scary when both men and women are in there and you can't lock your doors. *My roommate went to bed early one evening. When I came in about 11:00pm I was standing by my bed in the dark, in T shirt and undies when the door opens and a GUY and girl start to come in, shining a flashlight at me. He backs out and she says "There's going to be a guy coming in." No, he ALREADY was in. So they come in and spend 8-10 minutes shining a black light all over everything. They woke up my roommate, who was sleep deprived. Why couldn't that have been done at 8:00 or 9:00? And check first, before a guy comes into girls' rooms! *There were no balls or sports equipment, besides about 30 of those baskets with a handle (like lacrosse sort of) and a broken whiffle ball. $3200 a day and no football, volleyball, a ball for 4 square, chalk to draw hopscotch, nerf balls, hula hoops. The pictures show treadmills and exercise equipment. Nope. Never saw any. *30 minutes for visits?! Twice a week?! When some people drive an hour or more to visit? * The place has a very high ceiling so sound echoes. If you are in rooms close to the TV it is impossible to sleep before 11:00pm. White noise would help but the heater/AC only runs every 20 minutes and just when you are getting soothed to sleep it shuts off. And when they come in to check on you every 15 minutes the opening and closing of the door wakes you up. How about curtains in front of every door? *I was really pressured to stay a couple days longer. They even told me I could be taken to court! I was not in my room, curled up in a ball. I could name everybody there and was at therapy and walking laps and doing puzzles, etc. But when I saw how much they charged I understood why they wanted me to stay! I really hope they work on the cleanliness of the place, and the food. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. The front desk needs major improvement with their customer service skills. Even though we had a family member within this facility, making us worry by not giving pertinent information about our family member made us worry. The tone and words said not only to me and my mom but literally cussing out our family member is egregious and disrespectful. *Do not wait for them if your gut says you shouldn't ** I called this facility on Monday seeking resources for my adult stepson who was refusing to take the necessary steps to keep himself alive. Its Wednesday morning and I have heard nothing. I called asking for help and for whatever reason even a voicemail could not be returned. I needed to know the process for involuntary admission to a mental health hospital. We are fortunate that my stepson had an appointment he kept with his psychiatrist but my husband and I did have to intervene. He is at OSU as an inpatient now. It was around 3 am I was unplugging things because I was afraid of technology , the fear I have of AI the fear or objects merely because I stressed myself out about college and work and forcing myself to become older all at once without taking my time to slow down. I felt Cold and afraid and then hot , I felt like I was going in and out of somewhere but my body couldn't stop moving so much , my mind my body felt detached from my own life , having to slow down after coming back has made me realize how much I should value my time and not stay inside my head. I need to work on my communication, I want to learn to accept help better but it's a challenge for me because I want to be able to be independent, I want to live my happy life and have what others have but not without help. They gave me a very nice girl roommate who was very patient and kind to me and I appreciate them for the shirt they gave me and to learn about people's experiences to know that I am not alone in this big world I feel so overstimulated by. I am now 25 but when I was 17, I was pink-slipped (or whatever the heck it was) AFTER agreeing to be driven to this place by my guardian, both with the expectation of out-patient treatment, and I missed a major surgery that had to be rescheduled. Important context: The surgery was a partial thyroidectomy, and my thyroid had a huge nodule in it (thankfully non-cancerous), but still which affected my hormones etc. Hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism both can cause mania and the fact I had a scheduled surgery within the following week to remove my thyroid the same day my parent/guardian took me to this scammy dump and had to reschedule that surgery bc I missed it for expressing symptoms that were definitely most likely to-do with my thyroid... Long story short per review: If you want to add more trauma on top of health deficit, this is the place for you! Stay away if you have the choice. If you are 18+ do not choose this place and if you are younger than 18 tell your parents if you are struggling but make it clear to avoid this place. That's all. read more

Very poor treatment. There were very few group therapy sessions. The staff were very dismissive. Facility is very dirty.

2 nd shift on willows unit really needs some work they are very lazy. Mama G really cares about the patients she really helps the patients and gets them. The food was actually pretty decent except FISH if your going to make fish please have a second option. Also , I don't think there were enough groups. There was way too much down time we are there to learn and get better not play poker and watch TV all day. Still hands down my favorite hospital though read more

This place is a scam. DO NOT GO IF YOU WANT TO ONLY DETOX. They put you with psychiatric patients. There is absolutely nothing to do besides watch tv. The classes are also terrible and offer no route to recovery. Some of the classes you are literally coloring. If you go in voluntary, you are there for 5 to 10 days no questions asked. You are prisoner there. If you go in as a "Pink Slip" which is where you are forced by a court or the police you can leave in 3. They soak private insurance. DO NOT GO IF ONLY TO DETOX. STAY AWAY!!! Seven years ago I checked in due to breakdown. I am bipolar and was hitting a bad depressive cycle. One of the problems with bipolar is trouble sleeping. The nurses came in my room and shined a flashlight on me and woke me up every fifteen minutes, which made my psychosis worse. The nurse practitioner I was assigned to didn't believe I was bipolar (for god knows what reason) and put me Prozac which is very dangerous for manic depression. Prozac has a huge incidence of suicidal ideation, and two weeks after I got out, I attempted suicide. After more hospitalizations I finally got on the right medication. The other patients were some of the scariest people I've ever met. If I could have sued Dublin Springs for negligence I would have. read more

This place is basically a dumping ground for mental health patients and drug addicts. The nurses, doctors and staff are great but the beds are hard and the food is awful-I seriously vomited every day. Do NOT come to this facility. Terrible front desk staff and nurses. Being a nursing student with practice in psychiatric care, this place does not prioritize patients and it is obvious. They scheduled my appointment for 1:30pm. As I am writing this review, it is 2:15pm and I have YET to be seen by even a nurse let alone a doctor for an assessment. Disorganized, unprofessional, a true disgrace to healthcare and absolutely atrocious to those that need mental health assistance. I'm sure if I had seen a doctor maybe my experience would have been better, too bad the wait was 50 minutes to even be seen. Again, I cannot stress the atrocious behavior of the woman up at the front desk, which gives the entire place a negative feeling. She clearly should be out of this position. read more

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ACTUALLY WOULD LIKE HELP & ANSWERS! This was such a terrible experience for me. Poor communication, was talked to like I was child, she didn't seem to even want to be there, didn't really answer any of my questions and was also a bit rude and not professional when talking to me. A woman (I won't mention names right now until I follow up with them) told me what she recommend was group therapy and told my husband a different response when they talked alone. Why did she tell us two different things? This lack of communication made things worse, not better for the both us and I would never recommend this place to anyone who is actually searching for help and answers. On top of all of that, I also had a person just walk in not saying who they were and start explaining the cost of treatment (which was almost $5,000) something that wasn't even brought up to me yet which made my anxiety even worse. Terrible experience! I wish I would have listened to my gut and the reviews and told my husband for us to find another place, but he said to trust the professionals... This place was recommended from his therapist, not mine. I didn't even really know what I was walking into and was already so stressed before even going in knowing the reviews. Not sure why anyone would recommend to go here after how I was treated. The only two people that actually did their jobs where two people working the reception desk! The girl that checked me in actually even noticed my stressed and anxiety kicking back in and took me outside to get fresh air, she was amazing I wish I would have talked to her instead. They were both very kind and calm, which is what I expected from the person who actually saw me but definitely did not receive that care at all from what was supposed to be a "professional". read more

WORST administrative staff/practices I have EVER witnessed, and not just in the health care industry. The Dublin location is even worse than the East location! There was only one individual on staff there that didn't make me feel like I was interrupting them or bothering them. The staff didn't have answers to any of my questions, so all they said was to call the phone number. But no one answers the phone or returns messages. I was going here for medication management for about a year and I think I actually had someone answer my phone call ONE TIME. And they said they were transferring me to someone who could answer my questions, but I ended up being transferred to a desk in the East location. When I called back, the woman who had transferred me the first time told me she didn't know what I was talking about but that was the right number. Then she interrupted me mid-sentence and said she couldn't help me and transferred me to the same line again. And god forbid life happens and you need to cancel or reschedule a medication management appointment! I had to taper down my meds on my own because no one would call me back about rescheduling or answer when I called again and again. After 3 weeks, I finally had to drive all the way out there and talk to someone in person. I explained the situation and told them that someone needed to see me, today. And the woman at the front desk told me no one NEEDS to do anything. Completely unprofessional and rude. She had no empathy and took no responsibility for their bad business practices or horrible treatment of their patients. Oh and if you do end up going there, you'll probably get a bunch of random bills in the mail for money you don't owe them. I have been telling every person I know in the central Ohio area not to go to this place. I don't want them to go through the crap I was put through when I had to deal with this business. read more

Had a friend go here as a last resort to get help, she was basically turned away and told to see a therapist. She's been vomiting for 48 hours straight, she's an anxious mess than can't calm herself down. She needs help and she goes to a place that's supposed to supply help and support and gets turned away...horrible and disgusting. For a place that preaches communication they sure don't practice it. Within minutes my hippa was violated. I did receive medicine I needed but was kept for 3 days longer then necessary with no explanation of why I was still being held. When I finally got to speak with my psychiatrist again and I asked why she wanted to keep me for two more days she said "I don't know". I signed AMA to get out. They were happy to let me once they knew they couldn't get my insurance money anymore. They want your money. However if you need help this place is better then nothing! Springs has saved my life more then once and given me resources but they have serious work to do. read more

This place isn't for everyone. I came in to be mentally evaluated with my wife. I waited one hour for this appointment. I was told they had an emergency. I offered to come back on a later date. I was tired of waiting. They told my wife they would call police if I left. This led to me being taken back to a conference room that had doors in hallway being locked. I felt trapped. hands down worst employer ever had! leadership team is all about money. they don't care about patients. if a detox patient comes in and they are detoxing from opiates and they don't have the 4200 and the census is low they will admit them anyway, but if census is high they have to pay. they are not there to help patients. business office manager is a quack and she uses opiates herself. she can't even put together an email without the help of her supervisor. she plays favorites and watches YouTube and other tv shows during the workday on her computer. this place is a joke! read more

I took my son here as a last resort, he was cutting as well as having suicidal thoughts and severe anxiety where he couldn't even leave the home. they seemed nice and was easy to get into, the lady said it would be covered due to us having gov healthcare, she said he's in good hands and gave me her number to call if I wanted to check in on him or had questions. later his first day I called to check in and see if they would be setting him up with medication, no response . the second day , the van never came to get him I had to call, while he was gagging and panicking waiting, they finally came, he went, still no response.. then third day came along and I called again very mad at this point and she called me back and said she did get my voicemail the 2nd day, ok so you got it and it took me calling pissed off to get a call back. I trusted them with my son! I took him out and he did counseling sessions instead. that was in august, it's now march and I'm still calling them every month due to my bill being almost 5k which they said I wouldnt owe. my insurance said they never got anything from them and no one there is able to figure out what's going on . so I'm going to go to collections over them being incompetent and unprofessional. I would never refer anyone to go here! they were shit to deal with in aug and I'm still dealing with them. read more

I'm shocked at how rude the front desk person was. I was supposed to be picking up a family member whom i was assured would be ready at the time I arrived. I informed the woman at the desk why I was there, and also I wanted to ask a question. She never made eye contact with me, and interrupted me before I could finish, to say "have a seat". I politely said to her, "I'm sorry I was trying to ask..." ..she interrupted me again with "yes I heard you, have a seat." After sitting for 15 minutes she says out loud (again without any acknowledgement or eye contact), "you will have to come back". I advised her that I was told they would make sure my family member was ready to leave at the time I was there. (Again coldly she says, "They cant be released because they haven't even seen the doctor yet, so unless you want to wait here, you should probably just come back when they call you". I asked if they had any idea how long, because I could just wait? With the same rude demeanor she says "I cant say, it could be a while" (Where were the HIPA guidelines during this interaction? She initiated the conversation, and It was not a private conversation. ((Id also like to say that this was after meeting with a woman from "the office" (that is the only description given by rude desk lady) I was giving her a check written by my wife, for the amount she discussed with them. (Im noticing a pattern here) she informs me (while a person sat directly across from me and heard everything), that she was expecting a check for a significantly larger amount. I informed her that she would need to speak with my wife, as she is very thorough and wrote the check for the agreed upon amount. She was supposed to return to give me a receipt, but while she was gone, the following occurred. (I never received a receipt by the way)). There were other people that could hear everything she said? Was the delay in releasing my family member influenced by the amount I gave them? I would love to see what the average stay is, in comparison to the amount paid by the persons insurance! I wonder what that relationship would reveal? I also noticed another person had a similar experience, with a wholehearted response professing the facilities concern. (I guess after 6 months they weren't as concerned.) read more

PLEASE READ. *my biggest issue was that my mother came to visit me from CHICAGO and since she was 2 minutes late to the one visitation a day, she didn't get to see me* *AT THE END OF MY VISIT THERE IS AN EXIT SURVEY AND WHEN I SAID IT WAS HORRIBLE THE WOMAN IN CHARGE MADE ME FEEL BAD AND TOLD ME I WAS WRONG AND TO CHANGE MY ANSWERS. WHEN I SAID NO, SHE TOLD ME TO LEAVE HER OFFICE* For $1000 a day you get activities that would be used with children. When others are angry and trying to attract, the guards do nothing. No choice in food, unless you have a literally allergy there are no cares. I personally won't eat eggs so when it was scrambled eggs for breakfast and I asked for toast they told me no and I went hungry. You see the psychiatrist ONCE!! You're allowed outside for 10 minutes a day. You aren't forced to go to bed at a certain time but if you're not in bed by 10 they say "you're depressed". I waited hours to get checked in, the staff was rude, I showed up in nothing but a hospital gown and they didn't give me clothes or even underwear. This place made my mental health worse. read more

I don't know where to start... Other then I do plan on writing about my experience their. Zero one on one counseling at all other then do feel like taking your life asked about five times a day.... I know my story will help someone some day... But to sum up the place in a few statements.. two people the day I left where in tears due to the main doctor not listing. One of the victims was on the phone saying they will never seek counseling again... My room mate was in tears... And they are expecting. I know wail I write this they are still there in willows.. and I know I wanted to get out but I am still worried for them more so my roommate as I could see her taking her life after how they treated her.... Another is the main doc told me "this is a hospital so not going be safe"... All and all to say if you want to have PTSD and mess up someone's head more, take them here... So I will wait for I am sorry you feel that way comment and be the person who cares someday and help people who have been hurt by this place... Because there are many... So good job y'all you make 8 million a year just in willows a year .... *Claps* read more

As a guardian for someone with mental health issues I have seen too much. The lockdown for COVID has canceled visitation from family even though the governor lifted the restriction months ago. This creates a lack of accountability. Communication is an issue when there is no continuity from shift to shift. Each client should have ONE person assigned to coordinate care throughout their stay. Contact information should be made available upon admission to appropriate (guardian!) individuals. The staff should take an interest in the history of the client when diagnosing or prescribing medication. Phone calls should be returned. Legal guardians are appointed by the courts and can be part of a team that has the best interest of the client. This facility unfortunately is just one of many that fall short of having a vision for recovery that is lasting. read more

This place has gone down hill. You tell the person doing the assessment that you are going to hurt yourself and you are an addict. Wrong thing to say, you will get turned away. I don't know who runs that but we are complaining to the BBB and the health dept. but also contacting Mike Dewines office. The front desk is rude and the back people are terrible. The billing department is a total nightmare. DO NOT pay in advance if you can at all avoid it as they will take up to six months or more to return your money once they get it from the insurance company. They also will not return your calls even though they promise a response in 48 hours. Doesn't happen. I had called up to 5 times in a 2-week period and NEVER got a return call. The local billing office evidently does not know how to check to see if insurance payments have come in or are incompetent. Then, after months of waiting, they continued to hold my refund check for almost 5 weeks with no explanation. Unbelievable read more

My family member complained of being harassed. The harasser got in my family members face. My family member verbally defended themselves . I went to check on them and told the staff that they are responsible for keeping them safe. After I left, the staff all pointed at them saying they wouldn't be able to have visits. My family member shared this with me when they called. Now my family member is unable to have visitors. How is this helping?!?!? Now they are holding my family member against their will. A letter was written to leave and no one is saying anything. This is the worst medical experience that I have ever had. I have already contacted an attorney. read more

Had a close friend who was placed into this facility for depression. Had to drop off clothing to her and was immediately put off by the attitudes of the front desk staff. The rudest and most inconsiderate people, who clearly must hate their job. I don't know if the staff wrote us off because we were young college students or what but we felt extremely disrespected by the staff. While some of the employees are amazing and was the only thing to help my friend through her experience at Columbus Springs, for this being a mental health facility, the staff severely lacks compassion. Visiting hours are extremely limited, which is somewhat understandable, but is extremely unaccommodating for individuals wanting to visit patients but who also work late. After the 10 minutes it takes to sign in, turn in your state ID, and get a name tag and locker, it would still often take and additional 20-25 minutes to get back to see our friend, even though the sign on the doors said that a person would come out to get visitors at most every 15 minutes. We were also rushed to wrap up visiting hours and were expected to be done exactly on time even though there is a single clock on the furthest side of the room and cell phones are not allowed. A woman actually hovered over us as we hugged and told our friend goodbye to ensure that we would speed it up. Another thing that was absolutely terrible was leaving messages for patients. The procedure is to leave a message, give a patient ID code and the patient will be given the the message within 15 minutes of the front desk receiving it. Mind you, this is the procedure that the rude front desk staff woman told me when I raised my concerns about the extreme length of time it took for our friend to receive our messages. The woman was so rude when I asked her about the procedure and cut me off mid sentence, not believing that it took my friend nearly 2 hours to receive my message, and saying that it was my friend who was the one who wasn't calling us back (not the case at all). There was also several occasions where the front desk would answer the phone and then hang up immediately. We had a problem with finding my friends clothes and personal items that were somehow lost on the trip from the emergency room to Columbus Springs, and the message to my friend that we had found her clothes and were bringing them to her, had not been given to her at all and she did not know we were coming until we seen her in person for visiting hours. As for my friends personal experience, she expressed concerns of the lack of information given to her about how things worked in the facility. She had no idea about phone calls, when and where to get messages that were left for her, how to make a formal complaint etc. and even had to ask other patients what to do. A nurse also almost gave intense psychosis medication to a patient with anxiety and there was dual diagnosis patients (drug abusers and mental health patients) who were housed with the Depression wing residents, and they were hoarding their medications to take them all at once and get high. Complaints by patients were not taken seriously and the desk staff inside of the wing even began laughing at a patient who wanted to make a formal complaint about the messaging system. There was a staff member by the name "Nikki" who complained about everything she did, saying she wanted to go home, didn't want to be there, said bringing the trash outside was "such a bitch", etc. The negative attitude was absolutely put onto the patients who are trying to get better, and is completely unacceptable. Overall this place is absolutely terrible. There are some hidden gems of staff members and therapists who do an amazing job at the facility, but its staff for the most part is a disgrace. This facility's 2 star rating is an overstatement and I would never recommend this facility to anyone looking for mental health help, and I couldn't wait to write this review as soon as my friend was released to expose the facade of the "glorious" Columbus Spring Dublin. read more
