Just got back from Cozumel on a dive trip with Columbus Scuba. This is our third dive trip with Columbus Scuba and like the other ones it was fantastic. My wife and I love the family atmosphere at Columbus Scuba and this extends to their trips as well. We have made quite a few new friends on these trips and at the events at the shop. I've experienced 4 instructors combined through getting my open water and advanced open water certifications. They were all great. I felt safe while learning and appreciated their patience with me during the entire process. I had minor equipment issues and they were taken care of immediately. Easing my mind. I always felt like my safety while I was learning were top priority. I could focus on learning and HAVING FUN. I met a lot of CSI staff and instructors out of water and all were very friendly and eager to help and chat. Gilboa Quarry, the staff and a special golf cart volunteer... great. My wife and I decided to enroll in the Open Water course. We looked at all the reviews for the companies in town and picked this one after contacting several. From start start to finish, the staff at all levels were incredibly friendly and professional. The instructor to student ratio was amazing allowing a lot of individual instruction. This past weekend we went to the Gilboa Quarry for our final open water dives and it could not have been better. There were 2 staff members to only 3 students in our group. The safety measures they implemented are amazing. The Columbus Scuba group treated us more like family (the good kind) rather than just a student. Everyone was friendly and accommodating in every way you could imagine. The experience was so good that we are signing up later today to enroll in the Advanced Open Water Certification Course. I had an outstanding experience getting my Advanced Open Water certification with Columbus Scuba. The company cares about its students and they checked on us throughout the weekend. My instructor, Tim, was very thorough and personable. CSI has a full service dive shop here in Columbus, and then travels to Ohio quarries for open water certifications and weekend fun dives. In addition, they do trips to other US and Carribean dive sites. I recently earned my Advanced Open Water PADI certification through Columbus Scuba. It was a fantastic experience. Andy, Melissa, and the whole team did a great job of making the process easy, safe, and comfortable. The rental equipment that we used was all in good condition and reasonably priced. For the dives at Gilboa, the crew was well organized, patient, safe, and fun. While Andy led the training, there were so many other divemasters and instructors that it was a 2 students to one pro in the water, which is perfect. I'm looking forward to diving with the CSI team again and, hopefully, taking more courses. read more

As a novice, she educated me on what to look for, and how to know the way things should fit. I came in only to get prices, but by the end, I bought everything I wanted. From the very beginning I found this school to go above and beyond..Shelby was my pool dive instructor and she took extra time with me when I was having anxiety and worked me through it.. because of her I am opened into a whole new world under water.. Scott and LuLu were my certification instructors at Gilba quarry. What an amazing experience we had! Took our family of 5 to them to get our open-water certification. Right from the start, Melissa and Andy showed they have that rare ability to run a make-you-feel-like-family kind of business that does everything right. There is no way to say enough good things about this company in less than 20,000 words. They and their whole staff made us feel like family (and continue to do so!). They bent over backwards to help us get our certification in spite of a ridiculously tight schedule and time crunch, have helped us through every concern and challenge like we were their own, made me feel like my kids were safe and in good hands, their ratios of student-to-teacher are fabulous, their prices are great, we had no troubles with gear, every single staff member/dive master we worked with was amazing, I could go on and on. One of my kids is having a difficult time with scuba diving. Multiple staff members have gone out of their way to help and never made her feel like she was pressured or rushed. They met us one-on-one, have said over and over that they will keep meeting us one-on-one, and Melissa (the owner) has reassured me many times over that if my kiddo still wants it, they will make it happen no matter what. Their safety record is perfect and I can see why! I really wish I could give them negative stars. They have the worst customer service I have ever come across. I never even got the opportunity to have my session with them. When I tried to reschedule I got the run-a-round. Since I was getting no where with them I finally reported them to the BBB. They out and out lied to the BBB, even though I had the emails from them to proof my point. If all you want is the run away and two faced liars, spend your money here. Otherwise BEWARE!!!! read more

I was 2 weeks out from a vacation where I was going to be diving. I had minimal dive experience and Columbus Scuba was able to get me Open Water Certified in the limited amount of time I had available. That staff was great in helping me get my gear for my training. Melissa was able to work around my tight schedule to get my training done with a couple of days to spare. The instructor that I had was incredible as well. Andy and Melissa have created more than a company; they have created a community and extended family committed to safety, expert training and the growth of the sport. I am admittedly a student, but never once have I been treated like just a customer. They are true ambassadors of the sport and their positive attitude and welcoming charm is shared by each and every person associated with their team. There are no egos here, just competence and a genuine willingness to share knowledge and experience. Our open water training had a very low student to instructor ratio, and check out dives for Open Water and Advanced Open Water certification averaged nearly one instructor or Master Diver per buddy pair. I have not witnessed this level of commitment from other operations. Everyone involved with Columbus Scuba is wonderful to work with, and the family atmosphere created during dive weekends makes entry into the sport easy and keeps many involved and coming back for more. read more

I have been looking into getting into scuba diving for quite sometime now. My wife and i took a discover scuba class in Grand Cayman while on a cruise for our honeymoon. From the time i stepped into the water I knew this is what i wanted to do. We was so excited that the very next day in Cozumel we took another discover scuba class so we could dive again. Being from Ohio I wasnt sure how to go about getting certified what gear we needed and the many other questions we had. I called columbus scuba and very upbeat sounding lady answered the phone and this was my introduction to Melissa. she was so nice and understanding on the phone I felt instantly calm talking to her. I could tell by just talking to her she loved to dive and everything about it. After a shot conversation with her I decided it was best my wife and I did the online classes so it was easier with our work schedules and the fact we like 40 mins away. Melissa told me that if i had any questions at all about anything i was learning to dont hesitate to stop in or call if i needed help or did not understand anything. I ordered the classes that night and was instantly hooked. I stayed up a few nights and completed the class in about a week. It was we put together and i was able to understand and comprehend what was being taught. As soon as i completed the class i went into CSI and was greeted by a big smile. I said you must be melissa!!! she was extremely nice and answered all our questions and showed us around the shop and scheduled our confined dives with in a couple of weeks. She was very personable and full of information. She was really honest about what we needed and didnt need usually people tend to sell you the most expensive thing even if you dont need it. but not her she was honest and helpful and helped my wife and i get the gear we needed. Their prices are on par or lower then any place i seen locally and close to online prices. To me its worth the few bucks to buy local ( to support the local business, as well as ease of service or return) We even had our curious 4yr old son with us that cant stand still and she took him and put him in a wet suit and showed him how the air tanks worked. She wasnt flustered at all with him she talked and played with him in between my wife and i looking at gear and trying it on. We ended up keeping melissa 45 mins after closing time and she never once hinted or looked at the clock. I went back in a week later to pick up the wetsuit i had to order and i met Andy for the first time. And like his wife he was just as nice and helpful. Being a business owner myself I understand how stressful it can be but both andy and melissa are extremely customer service oriented. I introduced myself to andy and he smiled and said melissa told him all about my son, wife and myself. We talked to a good while and andy told me why he going into diving. He also is a straight shooter and didnt up sell me to buy something i dont need. I never felt pressured at all or rushed. I have not met the rest of the team myself but i assume they are just like andy and melissa. I can promise you, you wont find another dive shop in columbus or surrounding area like CSI ( I looked) with nice and caring people like here. They wont make you feel stupid asking questions and will make u feel like family just like their site says. As stated in the other review they are a full service shop. All in all I would give them 10 stars if i could. And I look forward to getting to knew andy and melissa alot more as well as the rest of the team. If you are looking for a professional , family friendly dive shop ... this is the place for you just give them a call and you will see !! read more

I already had my open water certification from another dive shop but started meeting people affiliated with CSI through dive club meetings and local dives. I wanted to get my advanced certification and I was really impressed with everyone I had interacted with both at dives and in the shop renting equipment. I just spent the weekend at Gilboa Quarry completing my advanced certification with CSI and I couldn't be happier with my decision. The instructors were very knowledgeable and I felt confident with their expertise. The entire weekend was great...the dives were well planned, I felt confident after each session, and because they offered it as an overnight camping trip at the quarry the staff were available to answer questions the entire weekend. It was such a fun weekend spending time with other divers, the staff and the owners. I would strongly encourage anyone considering getting their certification to check out CSI. I've already booked my next two classes-rescue and nitrox! read more
