Raspberry cheesecake ... To die for.
Ashley H.

Though the Columbia Restaurant is a bit out of the way, the journey is totally worth it for the good food and even better views. I had a veggie burger (without the cheese) made with quinoa and beans and it was DELICIOUS. The chips that came with it were also on the thinner side, like American fries, so I was very pleased about that (though the fries that came with other entrees were thicker British-style chips). The roasted almonds as a starter were also phenomenal, but I may have been very hungry. The service was stellar; my wine glass was always full. All in all, this would be a nice dinner out with a group of people (like in my case) as well as for a date. In the warmer weather, it appears that they may have outdoor seating on their terrace. Lovely dinner, lovely time, would recommend!

A quaint little homely Colombian restaurant in the heart of Holloway Nags Head's market with decor…read moresimilar to an old English cafe with bright orange painted walls which added a nice charm to it. Both the staff there were very humble and accommodating, working non stop to dish up delicious plates of Columbian food at portions big enough to feed two and all at affordable prices. At the front of the counter were a lovely selection of starters containing many unusual and delicious looking Colombian street foods. I say unusual but that is because I have not seen many of these delicacies in London before. Chorizo on cornbread This was okay. I think the cornbread let it down a bit being quite dry and bland but the chorizo itself made it worthwhile. Made from grounded meat and spices the texture was very moist and creamy, tasting much like processed meat. But I liked it and the heat built up after each bite making it quite spicy. Beef empanadas Very different to a lot of the Spanish versions I've had as the filling was more fluffy due to the addition of mash potato in it too instead of being very meaty. It was very flavourful, comforting, with the beef giving it the oomph of flavour it needed. The soft texture was a lovely contrast to the crispy cornmeal fried batter too which sadly started to become slightly hard and chewy from being left out too long and then reheated. But for the cheap prices they're charging, I am not complaining. Papas Rellanas (stuffed potatoes) These were definitely the highlight of our meal. Fried potato balls made of mash potatoes stuffed with rice, beef and onions. It starts off being crispy before you break the thin fried outer shell and reach into the lovely generous soft fluffy filling. It was seasoned perfectly with mild spices, adding complexity and depth to the ground beef and sweet onions. Comfort food at its best Pollo a la plancha A delicious plate of wholesome food. For someone who doesn't like chicken breast I was so surprised at how much I loved this dish. It was obvious that the chicken was marinated for long hours to give out the lovely mild savoury spices against its natural sweet flavours with a lovely hint of smokiness as a result of being beautifully grilled. It was succulent and tender too. It came with a lovely side of braised red beans, cooked till fluffy and soft and seasoned perfectly. Salad helped reduce the stodginess as well and adding some crunch to the dish and a lovely juicy plantain for some sweetness. All accompanied with fluffy rice and a runny fried egg. Bandeja Paisa A gigantic platter of food consisting of fried pork belly, two grilled beef, grilled chorizo, a fried egg, fried bread, stewed pinto beans, plantain, a slice of avocado and salad. It was delicious and every part of it. The pork belly was delicious. Being fried you have a lovely contrast of the crispy outside and the soft tender inside with good fatty boys melting in your mouth. Beef were beautifully marinated, smoky and although required a bit of teeth work they were very enjoyable to bite through its rich flavours. Chorizo were lovely with its sweet spices and meaty texture. Everything else was great too, either all fresh or cooked perfectly. For £12 it was a bargain especially when it fed the both of us and we even had some leftover to takeaway. I think I found a hidden gem as I have been trying to find more information on them on the internet but there is minimal information about them. Yet the place was packed the whole time we we were there and staff were ever so accommodating. It's not a place for a first date though as the market it is in (Holloway Nags Head) can be a a bit rough sometimes and the restaurant itself is quite run down with poor paint job. However for a bit of change to the usual and for authentic Colombian food and cheap budget eats, I highly recommend this place and I will be back soon.

I rated this place low for two reason- service and quality. We stood at the bar for 15 minutes waiting to be served. There was no one else there and there were four people at the bar. We tried getting their attention multiple times with no avail. Then, the drinks were extremely watered down. Usually, I can only have one drink before I need to stop but I drank both of mine and felt nothing. I probably wouldn't go back.

On the evening of the 28th of February 2024, my partner and I, along with our friends, visited Las Iguanas to celebrate our 8th year anniversary. What should have been a joyous occasion turned into a deeply unpleasant experience due to the reprehensible behaviour of one of the staff members. Upon arriving at Las Iguanas, we were enticed by your advertised brunch deal for £25, which concluded at 11 pm. However, upon inquiring about the offer, we were informed by your staff that a booking was required. Understanding this requirement, we promptly made a booking online for brunch at 8 pm to enjoy the deal. Unfortunately, the evening took a turn when we were attended to by a waiter named Byron. We informed Byron about the new booking and asked if it was okay to now enjoy the brunch menu, excited to enjoy our anniversary. In an act of utter unprofessionalism and disrespect, Byron directed offensive language towards my partner, labelling our decision to book for brunch at 8 pm as "c***ish." We were completely taken aback and appalled by his choice of language, which not only violated basic standards of decency but also tarnished what should have been a memorable evening for us. When we expressed our shock and asked Byron to clarify what he had said, he callously repeated his offensive remark calling my partner a 'c***', leaving us feeling deeply disrespected and uncomfortable. Such behaviour is entirely unacceptable and has no place in any establishment that purports to provide a welcoming and hospitable environment for its patrons. As a result of Byron's actions, our anniversary celebration was completely ruined. The incident left us feeling humiliated and distressed, overshadowing what should have been a special occasion shared with loved ones. Bryon then left the restaurant floor to make a phone call. We drank the drinks we had already ordered and then another waiter approached us asking if we wanted any food. Due to Bryon's offensive language, we wanted to leave the restaurant promptly. We requested the bill, which was provided to us with the service charge added. I stated there is no way we are paying the service charge and for it to be removed. Bryon stated he was sorry for using the language, but our evening was already ruined, and we left the restaurant. I implore you to review your staff training protocols to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. While I am deeply disappointed by our experience at Las Iguanas, I hope that your prompt and sincere response to this complaint will demonstrate your commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and customer service.

The flavors are the closest to the authentic Latin creations I grew up eating, yet also manage to add their own unique and delicious twists to make them pop even more. The ingredients are carefully selected, paired well, and cooked to perfection to make every dish unforgettable. For my first run, I tried the Seared Braised Beef with julienned crispy potatoes, which reminds me of the Lomo Saltado we do in California. The beef is tender and succulent, salty & flavorful, and topped with sliced roasted veggies. The crispy potatoes are amazing, too, but I wish there had been more. This is also the first restaurant I've been to in London that serves fried yuca (cassava) since I moved here... and that was more than 4 years ago. If you're hungry, get this as your side. Brownie points to them for using truffle oil to give them that little extra flair. The drinks don't disappoint, either. Their cocktails are utilizing "better" versions of Latin spirits (think Fair Quinoa Vodka), which means they're slightly pricier but also offer a more varied experience. The wine list is also plentiful, so pick your poison. Given the lively nature of its environment, it's definitely a restaurant for the social experience. However, reservations in advance are strongly recommended, whether you're coming alone or in a group. The ONLY downside I could find about this place was their complete lack of alternative milks. So, if you want something other than dairy to go with your tea or coffee, you're out of luck. In my case, I ended up opting for their Espressini cocktail with Fair Trade Coffee Liqueur instead. I know. What a sacrifice.

Highly, highly recommend if you're in town or live in London.
