It was a bank issue from Acura and I was contacted over the phone. The end result was the new State Farm agent quickly resolved the issue. My wife and I were two young kids starting out, we need home insurance, car insurance, collector car insurance, insurance! So we go to our local State Farm insurance office, agent Randy Pelosi across from the train station. Years ago, I needed a unique insurance auto policy. I was away on business in Ft Lauderdale and I surprised my wife with a new Acura MDX that I bought in Florida. Normally I'd drive that sucka to the auto train but I was swamped with work. I explain the situation to Mr. Pelosi, not a problem he explains. We'll take care of it. Great! I have my buddy take care of the auto shipping and away we go! Nothing happened to the car but the policy the way it was written caused a problem with my bank. It's not a problem for me, things happen. The office opens at 9am. I ask for Mr. Pelosi and I'm told he'll be in shortly. I wait 90 minutes, he's not showing up. I left a check to pay my insurance premium and said I'll call back. No harm, no foul. Here's where it gets interesting. I call about 11:30 and say hi Randy (we've done business for years and knows us) I can tell he's nervous on the phone. I told him about the policy how it was wrong and needs to be re-written properly. He's talking on the phone loudly like I'm irrational? I kept saying it's not a problem, let's just fix it. Then he drops the bomb, we may have to drop you as a customer. What?! I said what the heck man? If thats true then please give me back my check, I just made a payment and we'll go separate ways. He says if I come to the office he's calling the police. Folks, we live in nice quite area. I've had State Farm since I joined the military at 18. This guy, I am telling you is unprofessional. I called State Farm corporate and they said maybe he had a bad day. They switched me over to a new agent. My Check was cashed, no disruption in service and my new rep fixed the insurance issue that Mr. Pelosi couldn't resolve. I'm Yelp elite and know how writing a review first is tricky. This guy could have his wife and office workers with 1 reviews give glowing 5 star reviews for this business. And then they'll attack me in their reviews! In this day and age where Online insurance companies like GEICO operate, do you need a brick and mortar office with a guy who acts like a tool bag? 15 years ago he did and this review is my only recourse. If you want to use his service, enjoy. Just be aware this guy won't own up to a mistake on his part.

Each time, I was quoted consistent figures. However, less than a month after securing my vehicle, my premium unexpectedly increased to over $300, with no prior notice or proactive communication from the agency. When I reached out for clarification, I was dismissively told, "I don't know who you spoke to, but someone quoted you wrong." This response was both unprofessional and unacceptable, especially given that all prior communication had been with their own office. At no point did anyone explain that quoted rates could significantly change after underwriting review--a critical detail that should be transparently communicated to any customer making a financial decision of this magnitude. When I expressed concern about the sudden increase and explained that I could not afford a $737 insurance payment, I was met with a shockingly indifferent response: "Yeah, probably," when I asked if I should return my vehicle. Every few days I would reach out to her via phone and email and was continuously told my refund will be "credited back to my card" in a few days. Every time I reached out the answer was "another one or two days". By 3/3/23 I still did not receive it. I then called the underwriting department at State Farm and a supervisor informed me that Ana did not request the cancelation until 2/28/23. The supervisor informed me it was because Ana held off to get commission from the sale of the auto policy. I was called back on 3/7/23 and was informed they do not refund to a debit or credit card. They only send a check. On 3/7/23 I was told it was printed and mailed. Today is 3/11/23, still no check however other things from state farm dated for 3/8 and 3/9 were in my mailbox today. Please do yourself a great service and completely skip this specific office. It should under no circumstances take 5 weeks for a refund without the refund even being received.

While the pricing is great, I wanted to compare both the rate and the coverage. I emailed 5 different insurance companies and 4 of them immediately said "we'll get you the same policy for the same money" but only ONE came back to me and said you are not being covered properly and there's conflicting info in the underwriting language. That firm was none other than Coastal Insurance (see attached email). While their policy came back to be $200 more, but their policy also offers substantially more coverage. I would've rather pay the extra money than to leave myself exposed to a potential loss and claim denial b/c I didn't read the fine print. In a society where speed and cheap trumps service and common sense, it's refreshing to see a company that is thorough and didn't "sell me on price and price alone." Just an FYI, they also have an affiliate that provide tax grievance service and have saved me thousands of dollars with my commercial and residential properties.

I stated again my insurance policy renews on 04/06/2026 and they said it would not be a problem that they were working on it. It is now 04/07/2026 and this insurance company has not called me back at all. They were more than happy to take all my personal information, such as my social security number, date of birth, and other sensitive information yet never even provided me with a quote. If there was not a lot of positive reviews for this company, I would be concerned I was scammed out of my personal information, but then again those reviews could be fake as I have had a less than optimal experience.
