This was a huge decision for me to change hairdressers but to put it simply, I don't cross the river too much these days and couldn't handle the stress of a drive to Carlton on a day off. I described what I wanted to my stylist and she was on the job straight away! After a quick wash & head massage I was in the chair seeing the exact style I wanted come to life. Stocking all the top hair care products and not charging an arm & a leg, these guys have won me over and I'll definitely be a regular customer here.

The salon is funky, lots of the crew have edgy hair and tattoos which meant as a slightly alternative person I knew I would get something that suited my personality to A tee. My hair was coloured cut and coloured by both Deen and Bow and I think it was such a great idea that they both specialize in one thing and work together to absolutely nail it, no one wants a jack of all trades yet master of none and you certainly won't get that here! Initially, my hair looked fabulous, however after the first wash more than half had entirely slipped out of my hair. I was shocked as I have worn tapes for five years, and this had never happened before. I promptly phoned the salon. I did not receive an apology, however Deen offered to reinstall at no charge. I was booked in for the following week - my hair would be washed and tapes reinstalled. To my dismay, they were installed in my greasy, unwashed hair. They were not cut and were left unblended and gappy. I purchased the recommended shampoo and conditioner to ensure that they would not slip out again. When it came to the first wash after installation, some slipped completely out again, and most had slipped down, giving the appearance of a 4 week re-growth. At this point, I was furious. I knew that I did not cause the tapes to slip. This slipping was the result of incorrect installation. I phoned Show Pony the tape supplier and discussed the situation them. They said their product is a superior quality tape, and that it must have been the fault of the hairdresser who failed to wash my hair and installed the tapes in greasy, dirty hair. I visited the salon again. I greeted Deen, and advised that I would wait in the seating area until he was free to discuss. He insisted that I speak to him whilst he was cutting a customer's hair. I proceeded to explain how upset and inconvenienced I was that this had happened twice. He advised that the hairdresser (Kate) that did my hair is a subcontractor and that it was my responsibility to chase the $180 refund from her directly, and that it had nothing to do with him as the salon manager. I was lost for words upon hearing this. He was defensive and told me that I had no right to "barge into his salon demanding a refund" and that I had "a bad attitude". I cannot begin to explain how appalled I am that I was spoken to so badly, and on display in front of other customers. I have written this same review on other sites to which they abusively and untruthfully wrote back to me. Very disappointing and unprofessional, however I didn't expect much more to be honest.

I've been frequenting Hair Razor Hair Studios, probably since their establishment in 2002, and continue to go back to this day. Now in the relatively new location of Keys Street, Frankston, the Hair Razor teams offers a range of colouring, cutting and hair extension services personalised to your individual requirements. Pairing quality with affordability, you can expect to find Hair Razor offering regular specials on services such as 100% human hair extensions and foils. I've always been relatively tame when it comes to experimental hairdos, preferring to stick to my 1/2 head of caramel foils and a trim, but if I was going to a salon in the city, this simple order would cost me an arm and a leg. Instead, at Hair Razor, I get a 1/2 head of foils, trim, toner and blow dry for only $120. Now if you're up with current salon prices, you'll recognise that this is insane. Insanely cheap that is. The interior is luxe, with gold, ornate mirrors and black leather chairs, while the staff are usually very friendly and up for a chat. The only criticism I have is make sure you are very clear with how you like your colour (like with any hairdresser I suppose). I assumed, since I was a regular and my details were saved in their system, that despite having an unfamiliar employee, I would get what I always like. However I did find my foils to be very streaky and thicker than usual. I guess one learns never to presume the hairdresser in question knows that you like your foils to be fine and subtle!

However, a few weeks later my partner booked an appointment and because of sickness, had to ask for it to be rescheduled. I made the call, and unfortunately rescheduled it for a time when she had a prior appointment. Upon realising this, she called SBS to try and rebook the appointment and was rudely told that they "can't just keep rescheduling appointments and she either took the appointment or didn't come back". I find this sort of behaviour from a small business owner absolutely atrocious! Plenty of time was given when asking for the appointment to be rescheduled and it was hardly habitual behaviour. SBS Hair Design, neither my partner nor I will ever be back and you can be sure I will make sure that nobody that I know ever visits your establishment.
