I love face painting--I was getting made up to look like a cat at festivals, parties, & parks until…read moreI was nearly 30. And I always notice face & body art on others. So I was pleased to see a new face painter at this year's Danish Club of Houston - Vikingeskolen Danish Carnival celebration, & downright excited that my 3 1/2 year old son wanted to get his face painted for the first time, especially when I saw the results on the other kids' faces.
My son asked Erika to paint a train on his face. This was obviously a new request for her. But Erika was easygoing about it--she simply hesitated, considering my little son's request while studying the canvas of his face. She let my son choose what color he wanted his train to be (blue) & immediately set to work. And though my son is very shy, he was perfectly comfortable letting Erika hover over him while she worked on him, her long hair hanging in a curtain around his upturned face.
Both my son & I were floored by the results of Erika's impromptu train. It was *adorable* (See the attached pics).
Better still was the more conventional face art--the absolute best I've ever seen. Many of the girls received abstract designs depicting flowers or butterflies. There were colorful & whimsical Mardi Gras-esque masks adorned with curlicues, tigers, cats, & best of all, face art meant to complete whatever costume the child was wearing--one little pirate sported an adorably cartoonish eye patch & a red spotted do-rag--Ar! And though her designs were very detailed, Erika worked reasonably quickly, so none of the kids got too antsy while waiting in line. She's truly impressive.
But I'm not the only one who thinks Erika is the absolute best--she also paints faces at Yelp-Houston's official events. So if you've received face or body art at a Yelp event, you've met Erika & have seen her work already. If you haven't, check out Rawr Party's other glowing Yelp reviews, & see their Yelp business pics & those on their "blog".
Rawr Party! employs just 2 face painters besides Erika--Erika's sister & long-time best friend, but if you'd like to hire Erika specifically, just ask. The company's advertised rate is $100 for the first hour, $50 for each additional hour, for a minimum of 1 hour; & you need not book the full hour, after the first. My impression is that Erika is willing to be flexible with respect to pricing.
Regardless, because of Erika's easygoing; relaxed; & flexible nature, her exceptional people-skills, & her incomparable face & body art, you can't afford not to hire her for your special event.
