This school requires a very specific person to enjoy it. It's 7th-12th and in 7th grade those who…read morewent to Denison will already have friends there and won't really branch out until around the end of the year leaving those who did not go to Denison sometimes feel left out. The teachers tend to be republican along with many of the students however very few teachers make their views known to students besides the occasional slip up. The teachers for 7th and 8th are not the best but after that it tends to get better. One problem some might have is the closed campus. While there being a closed campus on its own is not bad the food there isn't good at all. Your only option to get a good meal is to make your own lunch and bring it to school but that isn't always an option. Also if you want to be able to spend time with your child then don't send them to develyn as the work load is over the top with the principal saying that 3 hours of homework should be the norm. Overall, if your child does not cope with stress well do not send them here. In the end I don't think that this school is right for most people.

Everyone is basically new in 7th so it's easier to make friends for kids. Very high standards academically with the highest act scores in the state. It's public and considered an option school with a lottery system. Located in Jefferson county off Kipling and Quincy.

So far so good. Both my neighbor's sons graduated from North in the past 2 years and both had great…read moreexperiences. I currently have a junior at North. His learning family teacher has been amazing and very engaging. The staff we have interacted with during the back-to-school nights and progress reports were all very engaging and positive. Any time our son has had any academic struggles he has been able to remedy them during office hours. I know everyone has a different expectation of High School, and each situation is different but our experience has been excellent. Our younger son is an incoming Freshman next year and is very excited about attending.

I'm a senior at North High School, and I've attended the school for all four years. I want to say…read morethat this school was the worst choice . The staff, education, and overall experience were horrible. This school has so many problems, and I want to start with the staff. They're all lazy and lack the specific intelligence needed for their jobs. They have told my parents that they were too busy to help my younger brother be able to graduate. This is stupid, as they have a designated time called office hours to help improve students' grades, and my brother hasn't gotten the help he needs , especially because he has an IEP. They assured my parents that they would help him, but, as I said, there has been nothing. Something I found funny was that a counselor asked if I could tell my boss to change my hours just so she could schedule my off period to whatever worked faster for her. Aside from the unintelligent staff, the policies they have for students are even more ridiculous . They have 90-minute classes but give students 60 minutes or less for lunch. Recently, they have instituted hallway sweeps, only giving students 5 minute passing periods. It used to be 7 minute passing periods, making it harder for students to succeed. I also thought it was dramatic to have phones be put in a bin. I personally believe senior year should be the time when seniors prepare for life after school, teaching them how to be responsible, respectful, and what life will be like after high school, especially in a job setting. I feel that having my phone in a bin is childish, unnecessary, and does not prepare any senior for responsibility. There is obviously a lot more wrong with the school, but I'm not gonna waste any more of my time, so what I think is I don't recommend this school it's horrible if I could give 0 stars and still write this review I would.
