He was extremely knowledgeable and coached me on how to speak with the next doctors, what symptoms to focus on, and how to not get blown off by a doctor who sees my actual hearing doesn't have an issue. As I expected, Dr. Cavanaugh said there was nothing wrong with my Eustachian tubes and my ears were fine. I was glad to get this confirmed and have since figured out my problem on my own (which had nothing to do with my ears). Dr. Cavanaugh was personable and I'm sure he's a competent, knowledgeable doctor. I read negative comments about staff but the front desk and nurse who got me set up, were both very kind and friendly. During the exam, he said he saw a bit of ear wax, and without asking my permission, preceded to use a machine to extract the ear wax. When I received my bill, I was charged an additional $105 for this unneeded procedure. I have a high deductible so I knew none of this visit would be covered. I was not forewarned that there would be an additional fee on top of the office visit. When leaving he had me schedule a follow up even though he said there was nothing wrong with my ears. (I cancelled) My warning is: demand a break-down of ALL the charges for your visit. I wish I'd said when I entered the room that I want to know if there will be any additional charges on top of the office visit. And beware that he may want you to return for a follow up. Use your judgement on that. I have no problem paying the office visit, but I'm upset that I was nickel and dimed.
