Up above the world so high. Like a Diamond in the sky.
I came across Trajan's Column twice during my travels around Rome. Once circling Roma on a sightseeing bus and the other while walking around the streets of Roma trying to find the famous Trevi fountain and the Pantheon. The Trajan's Column is an impressive structure that stands impressively in a courtyard in central Roma. It's definitely one to shoot for, If you are looking for something to do or to occupy your time. Trajan's column is dedicated to the Roma emperor Trajan and the artwork involved is nothing more than stunning. Spectacular and exquisite are two of the words I would describe how magnificent this column is. Like most monuments in Roma, this one is a good one and does not involve long lines. Most local Roma people don't really pay attention anymore, but to us tourist folk who finds this stuff fascinating and I do.
Best believe that it was worth about 15 minutes of your time to stop and admire this wonder. Trajan's column is located at Plaza de lalala near the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon. It's an open courtyard that just screams visit me! No lines at all, like some local artwork for passersby on a daily basis. The best part was the it was FREE. Yup, like the St Pietro Basilica & the Trevi fountain, it's free to go and see. Parking here is solely street parking, but with the swiftness of Roma daily life, it's hard to get any, if you don't know the local laws and customs. It would probably be best to ride the metro and walk here, along with riding the sightseeing bus, just so that it will be cheaper and you don't have to walk so much! Trajan's column depicts the life and times during the emperors reign and has been preserved and protected for centuries till the current day. Much like the ancient Egyptians in their hieroglyphics, but in a masterful display of arrogance and pride to the nth degree.
Anyone who has a structure made for them has got to be important. For an emperor, yup, you're practically a God. Trajan's column reflects what was a sign of the times back in Ancient Roma. Clashes of war and peace with the warring factions within Italy and in the region made Roma one hell of a place to live. The column acts as a reminder of how it was back then. It's definitely a wow and a half If you are into the arts and a history buff. At the top of it is most likely the statue of the emperor himself. A definite stop on your travels through Roma.
You will not regret this pitstop.
