My beautiful Sister Angela, passed away suddenly and my whole family was distraught beyond words. We knew that planning a funeral for her was going to be devastating, and none of us was looking forward to it. We met with Michael, the owner of Colonial, and from the moment we sat down with him, we knew we were in the right place. His compassion was genuine, not just "matter of fact" since this is what he does. No pressure, no sales tactics, no gimmicks, just a sincere concern for the grieving family. He went beyond his responsibilities, and got on the phone with the cemetery and took care of the hiccups regarding the plot (which could have turned into a mess). He truly made us feel reassured that my Sister's final moments would be full of dignity, and that the family and friends could grieve and say their good byes with no worries. Michael Lanza and staff handled my father's funeral with respect and dignity. my father was a hundred miles away when he passed and Michael had my dad back home in Staten Island within hours. Called me to tell me Dad was there and we would meet the next day to decide further arrangements. Everything we requested was done exactly as wanted. The staff came in several times asking if everything was ok if we needed anything. As hard as the day was yesterday as we took Dad to his final resting place Tony made sure our final moments with our dad were as perfect as possible considering the circumstances. at the funeral home. My mother passed away in October 2019. It was a very difficult and emotional time for me and my family. We had an appointment to meet with Tony about two hours after my mom's passing. Tony was very professional and answered all our questions and attended to our requests for her wake and funeral. I must also give a very special Thank You to Michael Lanza. My family and I had a personal issue that I had discussed with him. Because I had waited too long to notify him of our request, he wasn't sure if it was possible to accommodate us on that day. To my surprise, Michael was able to expedite our personal request on that day. My family and I could not have been more grateful to him and his staff. Michael and his team went above and beyond to care for our dearly departed mother/grandmother during this COVID crisis. Within hours of notifying Michael that our mother/grandmother had passed, he immediately dispatched his team to Clove Lakes Nursing Home and brought her to Colonial. Both he and his staff were beyond caring and considerate as we dealt with our grief and the inherent difficulties of having a service during these times. It was easy to see how busy the home was, but Michael made us feel like we were the only people there and was exceedingly thoughtful -- both he and staff made us feel that our mother/grandmother was as special to them as she was to us. Our father recently passed away because of Covid19, it left our hearts empty and destroyed, this was a very difficult time for all of us. My dad recently past away. We went to Colonial because my dad always said he wanted to be there. He said this because at 91 he had been to many wakes there. I had the pleasure of working with Michael. He was very compassionate and understanding during this time. He made sure everything was perfect for our family.
