Enormous. That's what I would call this place. Enormous. However, unlike many buffets I have tried, the food quality here was actually quite high, with many vegetarian options in many different ethnic food combinations. Some of the dishes are also marked "halal", which is nice to see when serving to a multi-ethnic crowd. You almost have to have a car to get here, as it is not anywhere near the city center and even a trip on the tranvía means you have a bit of a walk to find the place. Not impossible, though. There are several different areas for getting food, including sushi, typical Spanish fare, Asian, salads, and desserts. You can even pick out fresh meats to have cooked to your taste in one section, which makes meat eaters happy, I suppose. It is a very loud environment, and busy times means fairly aggressive clientele at the different stations. The price is good (not great) and buying a drink is required... so tack on a couple of euros to whatever the buffet price is for a more actual cost of the meal. read more

I was visiting with my husband the town of Alicante hoping to find some exciting international food .After 3 nights of disappointing dinners in tourist trap part of the town we decided to explore the other part of town hoping we would find better more exciting dishes.We chose Colonial buffet as our option since they would have better variety of different foods and maybe we could have a decent meal .However it was not to be our saving choice .At first the opening of the place was listed at 8:15 pm they didn't open till 8:35 pm , the hostess did not even apologize for the delay.After waiting in bit of a hunger , we got our plates and we naturally started with sushi which was - not very fresh most likely made few hours before the place opened. (Español versión abajo) Would give zero stars if possible. We have been traveling across Europe for nearly seven months now and this was by far our worst dining experience. Went in on a Friday night thinking that the variety would be greater and food would be more fresh - wrong. First off, they force you to buy a drink in order to eat there, so the meal isn't €13.50, it's at least €16 per person. We almost walked out then but we had just walked over 3 km to get there, as it is VERY far out of the center of Alicante, so we were starving and decided to eat anyways. Really wish we hadn't. The food was pretty nasty, to be blunt. And the pictures they advertise on their website? NONE of it was at the buffet. The sushi was plain, old, and had no yummy sauces as pictured on their site. The tapas were non-existent, but the two or three they did were inedible. The "Italian" section was a few cheap, old pasta dishes that were cold. Even the fried food (which of all were the cheap brands you buy at the store, i.e. frozen samosas and potato wedges) were stale, freezing cold, and had so much salt on them that neither of us could finish the small bit we tried to eat. Every selection of meat was dry and cold as well. Oh, yeah, and the paella that they advertise? Not there - there was NO PAELLA! Oh well, it would've been cold and rotten anyways. As far as dessert, the chocolate fountain was broken (no surprise there) and the banana fritters were made with rotten bananas. The only thing that was safe to eat here was the ice cream, and even that was cheap and kinda gross. Basically, if you want to pay a lot of money to eat food that is all COLD, soggy, and way over-salted, all while getting glared at by the employees that look like they're about to have a mental breakdown...come enjoy this lovely buffet. Seriously surprised that anyone would rate this place higher than a one-star; makes me wonder what kind of food they've eaten in their lives. Save your money and go spend the €35 on somewhere that actually has the decency to serve warm food. Cada selección de carne estaba seco y frío también. Oh , sí, y la paella que anuncian ? No hay - no había PAELLA ! Oh, bueno , hubiera sido frío y podrido de todos modos . En cuanto a los postres, la fuente de chocolate estaba rota ( no hay sorpresa ) y los buñuelos de plátano se hicieron con los plátanos podridos. La única cosa que era seguro comer aquí era el helado , e incluso que era barato y un poco asqueroso . Básicamente , si quieres pagar un montón de dinero para comer la comida que es todo FRÍO , empapado, y forma salados sobre , todo mientras me fulminó con la mirada por los empleados que se ven como si estuvieran a punto de tener una crisis nerviosa ... venga a disfrutar de esta hermosa buffet. En serio sorprendido que cualquiera calificaría este lugar más alto que una sola estrella; hace que me pregunte qué tipo de comida que han comido en sus vidas.
