Many restaurants are closed on Sunday evenings, but we were lucky enough to snag early dinner reservations on a balmy evening in May. As we settled into our booth, our waiter Marco stopped by for our drinks order while we perused the menu. I asked Marco if he knows what a Lemon Drop is (not every restaurant in Spain does) and he said, "Of course!" Boyfriend ordered his usual very dry martini, up with a twist. First up was the Mr. Porter focaccia bread with a hummus, herbs, olive oil and yogurt dip, a different bread choice from most steakhouses and really fresh and good. Next was the Taboon Roasted Foie Gras, which was flavorful, rich and perfectly cooked. We ordered steaks, peppercorn sauce and a side of the Black Garlic Broccoli, perfectly cooked and just wonderful. Marco was so funny and sweet and attentive. He took a photo of us to remember our trip by. This is among the best steakhouses we've visited worldwide. We will definitely return on our next trip to Barcelona.

Ambiance was romantic as hell. Loved it. Great conversation with the people who sat next to us as well. Drinks and wine were good. The waiter recommended them. I recommend making a reservation if you can, but I'm sure they allow walk-ins. The gentleman that served us was kinda and patient. He walked us through some of his recommendations. Their menu is scanned through a QR code with videos and pictures of all the paellas you can order. As our first time, we went with the classic 'The one from the beach bar' with shrimp, crayfish, and squid. The minimum order is for 2 people, so it was 50€. This was absolutely delicious, and very flavorful. This paella left a very good impression on us, and had us wondering if we could have paella this good back in the States. Perhaps we were hungry... perhaps us, Texans, just eat a lot. We decided to order a second one 'The Clumsy One' with duck magret and mushrooms. Since we had already 2 portions from the last the paella, the kindly allowed us to order 1 portion for this paella, 28.50€. When in Barcelona, you have to eat duck. It's just so good here. Duck was cooked perfectly. I think I might've liked this one better than 'The one from the beach bar.' Just a tip to actually order this one first because it does take a while to cook! Worth the wait, in my opinion! While waiting, we ordered a couple drinks. If you like sweet, you'll love the Valencia Libre - pretty much a spiked horchata. I highly recommend the clover club! Such a cute girly drink :)

Veggie croquet: Tasted fine but I didnt love this. Beef stuffed inside bread: Its beautiful and looks like a chocolate truffle. It was a bit sweet for me, but overall it was fine. Artichoke leaves: Comes with a hefty portion of diced olives which my wife hates but she enjoyed the artichoke. Octopus shareable (I forget the name): My wife was floored by how good this was. She wanted 100 more... Chicken canneloni with foie gras: Decadent! Very tasty with lots of unique flavors. So rich and creamy, this was nothing like I expected and it was fantastic. Iberico ham and pasta (forgot the name): This was the star of the night! Very rich and decadent (I hate repeating myself but I have to). This dish will give you gout if eaten frequently. Utterly delicious. "French toast dessert": Their signature dessert for over 20 years. Imagine a better version of creme brulle but with French toast. It also comes with a scoop of hazelnut ice cream which really brings it all together. Definitely a fish forward restaurant, but their meat dishes stole the show.

I was out walking near my hotel and passed this place up, and decided to give it a shot. TBH, what drew me in was the "Kyoto" in the name of the restaurant because I went to Kyoto a year ago and had the time of my life, lol. Upon walking in I was immediately greeted by the chef and staff, and was impressed and in love with the Japanese-style decor! On to the food! Honestly, I didn't know what to expect. I thought this food was either going to be a let down, or pretty dang good. Luckily, it was pretty dang good! I started off with some gyoza, which was both flavorful and texturally pleasing! My main course was pork miso with egg over rice. Man, it was really, really good! Super super tasty and reminiscent of the food I had in Japan! I then washed the meal down with some Kirin, which was probably my favorite beer I had while in Japan. The service here was great as well, and I definitely recommend this place if you're in Barcelona and are craving an authentic taste of Japan!
