The Barkwood Inn Pet Resort - Great socialization for her at playtime

The Barkwood Inn Pet Resort

My dogs have been going there since just after the Barkwood opened, more than 15 years ago. Four…read moredogs, althought the two older ones are gone now. They've been going 2-3 times per year, from weekend stays to close to two weeks at at time. They also get their nails trimmed there on a regular basis. Every single experience has been outstanding. Literally every one. I have never questioned my decision to send them there. The facility is always spotless. The staff is friendly and you can tell they truly love the dogs. Someone is kind enough to take pictures and post them on FB pretty regularly which is awesome to see when you're away. My dogs come home clean, healthy and tired. I'd be devastated to take them anywhere else at this point.

I left my 10# Maltipoo on 9/30/24. I paid for the video cameras. I wasn't given a code to log on…read moreso I called the second day and got the code. I saw my dog sleeping on his bed and also playing in the outside area. The next day I couldn't find him either in his room nor in the play areas, I called to ask if there was another area he could be in, I was told that my dog had taken to sleeping by the door; outside of the camera range, I thought that was odd since he loves his bed that I brought with him. Two more days went by and I never saw him in his room but did see him in the play area, He was sitting near the human but not next to her. On the morning of the fifth day I got a phone call simply saying that he was having trouble with his eye, and it actually was closed at that point, I left and drove right back to pick him up. With the suffering he was enduring due to his eye issue I couldn't believe they gave him an exit bath (at additional cost). I immediately took him to the vet and that began four weeks of vet visits and eye drops and cream and lots of praying. Seems his eye had a large gouge in it and it had to be like that for a couple of days to the point where it got infected. My dog is now blind in one eye, It would have been nice to have received a call asking how he was, It would have been nice to have been told what happened. It would have been nice to have had a call two days earlier. Bottom line, my dog did not receive personal attention at all. This despite the fact that I paid for extra one-on-one cuddle time. You would have thought this would have been caught when it happened, or shortly thereafter, or especially during one-on-one time.
