According to some doctors, she could receive it, then according to other doctors, hospital policy went against that kind of care. The nurses were worse. We only got to talk to 3 doctors before she passed, but we were in contact with several nurses. Those nurses need a reality check. Some of them have a chip on their shoulder about how to care for patients. I was told my Grandmother was on comfort care, which meant they would put her on a schedule of comfort medications. Then the next few shifts later, after my Grandma was suffering in pain, that I needed to request medication every time she was uncomfortable. It gets worse....i was then told, by the nurses, that my grandmother needed to request the medication herself in order for them to give it to her. My Grandmother was on her literal deathbed. None of the doctors had a say in how the nurses cared for her. She was so close to death that she just lay there in pain, begging me to rub her legs and her hips. Not one of the nurses or doctors really helped with her pain. I was just told to ask this person and this person and after this person....no one gave me answers. Then they made me feel like it was my fault for asking on my grandmas behalf. My opinion is they made my Grandmother suffer in her last days. She didn't have to suffer. The nursing staff at Rehoboth is not for their patients. They are for themselves. They also gossip among each other and turn each other away from caring for the patients that are their care. I fully and wholeheartedly regret that my Grandmother had to suffer there because of neglect and incompetence among the nursing staff. Do not take your loved ones there.

Recently, a friend of the family tested positive for COVID-19 at the emergency department (ER). Apparently, they were in "diversion" mode and would take 3 hours or more to see a doctor. So he was sent away with a contagious virus and to come back to walk-in clinic for follow-up the next day. As we all know now, all protocols for this sort of thing call for strict isolation and come back to ER if symptoms become worse. But they wanted him to come back to walk-in clinic, exposing him to more of the public. Masks are half measures at best. What about the people in the car taking him to the various clinics and labs. GIMC is making more people exposed, instead of less. There are good doctors helping people here. Unfortunately, the reception and support staff are inept and obtuse at best. One good doctor Urichi saw the sense in making sure the patient was isolated away from the public and his family. Urichi M.D. arranged for Paxlovid to be delivered to the house. The patient is to remain isolated for 5-7 days and free from symptoms for 48 hours until he can return to normal schedule. This one doctor saw the sense to follow current CDC and conventional medical protocols. He is to be praised and given authority over the bureaucratic staff. It seems GIMC normally benefits the community. But this manner of treating patients puts more at risk. Keep a mask on the whole time you are there. It may keep you a little safer from COVID-19 patients roaming about.

Pet peeve, people bringing their healthy children/babies to the hospital to hang out. Keep in mind hospitals are dirty places! Cover your cough with your sleeve and practice good hand hygiene.
