For a low admission cost, we toured the museum with all of its outbuildings and tons of artifacts. Your journey starts in the main building with decorative items, musical instruments, practical items, and more from Africa. You then move in time into the slave trade, with striking diagrams of maximized boat storage capacity - with human beings as cargo - and artifacts like collars and shackles. Next is the underground railroad, including quilts and descriptions of the different quilt blocks and their symbolism to former slaves on their journey North. The museum is set on a beautiful tract of land, surrounded by trees, with birds and chipmunks scurrying about. As you walk through the wooded trail, you encounter themed buildings to explore. This includes model ships and artifacts from the local shipyards, model trains, military memorabilia, sewing machines and fashion, farm equipment and other tools, sports equipment, dishes and household items, a doll collection, a dollhouse, black-themed postcards of questionable taste, old books ready to read, and really just anything and everything you can think of that black and white settlers in the area and their descendants would have owned. Throughout are highlights of how black Canadians contributed to military, sports, politics, invention, arts, and even just working in the shipyard like many in the local community, back when opportunities were not equal. The museum has some items behind glass but many more the visitor can pick up and experience, including trying on traditional clothes and playing a marimba. I hear they have quilting classes and activities for kids. For those concerned with practical questions, yes there are bathrooms. The location is rural but it is only about a block from Highway 26, making it a great place to stretch your legs on a long trip. They do not (currently) have drinks or snacks that I saw though, so bring your own water bottle. They do have outdoor tables and some chairs to rest along the trail, and swings if the kids are restless. The friendly staff have an infectious passion for their museum and offer a welcoming atmosphere. If you are looking for a swanky museum with fancy displays behind glass, this is not it. If you are looking for something interesting to do in the area for a couple hours, with a chance to touch and experience history, go here. The experience is well worth the modest price of admission.

We went to this village on a sunny Saturday afternoon. We finished a mass on Martyrs' Shrine at…read morenoon, then using the receipt to enter this village for free. We arrived here around 3:30pm that there was a presentation about 17th century medicine at the back of the village. We got the map and ran over to the hospital location. We waited a bit for more people. The presentation was quite interesting and understandable. We couldn't believe how bad the medical knowledge was in old days. It took about 15 minutes. Then we went back to the entrance for the movie. It was like the introduction about the old days of wonda and the history. Then the garage door was opened, we could start our journey. We could follow the numbers on the map or we could pick and choose to visit, somehow we were running of the time. So we picked some spots to check on. The cemetery and the church, garden, iron shop... some of the places do have one or two staff could tell you more information. We must say you need more time to spend in the village, 1 or 2 hours are not enough. This place is worth to come again.

Mad & Noisy is exactly what I would expect from a small art gallery in a small town. There are craft arts and water colours and jewellery that look like they would be great for people looking for little things to put around the house. Bits and bobs for bookshelves or coffee tables are plentiful by the front door. The far walls are home to larger pieces. At this time we were treated to oil on canvas, mixed media photographs and a few carvings. I thought a lot of the work was very well done but it wasn't really my style. Having said that, I like that this gallery is a collective space and seems to give equal time to new and established artists. It's no secret how difficult creative arts can be without some sort of support system around you helping create awareness of your work.

Purple Hill Lavender Farm is about 1.5 hours from Toronto, and just 5 minutes outside the Village…read moreof Creemore. The lavender fields are beautiful, and the lavender scent greets you as soon as you step out of your car. Note that lavender picking is not allowed or available on this farm. You can book tickets online for field visits, professional photography sessions, or a 2-hour luxury picnic. Alternatively, if your visit was spontaneous like mine, you can pay for your field admission in person ($15 per person, free for children under 5). There is a sufficient field parking right by the farm entrance which is included with your admission. The farm also has a small gift shop offering homemade lavender-infused items and dried lavender products. I visited the farm around 3:30 PM on a Saturday in early August and found the fields uncrowded, which was great for taking photos. This farm is a pleasant stop if you're in the area. However, the drive may not be worth it if you're coming just for the farm alone, especially if the lavender season is nearing its end, as not all areas of the field are in full bloom. Other than take photos, and maybe sit for a picnic or read a book there's not much else to do here.

It wasn't until we were leaving that i received a snarky comment from one of the employees telling us to basically grab our stuff and get out asap "You guys finished your lane, now get out!" There wasn't a moment in our groups time at the bowling alley where we were disrespectful or not following the set rules, when she said no outside drinks we didn't argue with her we kindly agreed and brought them right back to the car. I had a good time at this bowling alley but if your looking for some more optimistic and empathetic workers, Id most definitely find another place to go bowling.I don't know if i'll be returning back.

This little alley was about 15 minutes away, and felt like we actually traveled back in time when I walked in. Pretty small venue, and they only have 5-pin bowling which is actually super hard! They had shoe sizes for men up to a size 15 which was great - we actually had someone who needed that size! We didn't eat while we were there, but it looked like they had a nice selection of 'bowling food' (like fried goodness, beer, etc.). The facilities were clean and well-kept, the staff we interacted with minimally were helpful and friendly, and the bowling was super fun even though I wasn't good at it ...haha. The screens above you also told you how fast you were launching the ball down the lane, that was pretty neat. There was a pretty decent-sized arcade as well, with air hockey and some other huge arcade games with lights that I wasn't familiar with. I think if I lived in Collingwood, this would be a fun place to visit on weekends to get my bowl-on. The only thing missing was 10-pin bowling, but I would surely come back to try and improve my 5-pin game!
