Our 3rd RV purchase was at Collier; we wish we'd have been smart enough to do the first 2 there as well. Our initial contact, David, was patient as he showed us models in our price range. He didn't try to pressure or upsell us, instead, when we were finished he simply handed us his card and said he'd be available if we had any other questions. Collier has been family owned since 1961. There are long-term employees which we feel is an indicator of a quality company. I purchased 2 Rv's from this place and had a fantastic salesperson, Terry Turner. I have also used them exclusively to regularly maintain and upgrade. That was also a good experience. I am recently widowed and turned to them to sell my 2022 East/west trailer. I was given an extremely low offer which was initially beat by 2vother dealers. This where the real problem occurred. I should have wrote this review earlier. STAY AWAY! They don't care about your safety!! Purchased a new '20 travel trailer R-pod 196. First sales person either had a very bad day or was annoyed with customers? I'm non-confrontational, but was so shocked - I "called him out" on his behavior. With travel trailers in short supply, came back a few days later and asked for another sales person so I wouldn't have to deal with "Mr. Crabby Pants". Better experience, however BUYER BEWARE of Forest River! Wish I did my research because it's all over the Internet! They manufacture CRAPPY CAMPERS and DO NOT honor their warranty! My R-pod has had MANY problems within months! 1) Kitchen sink leaked 2) A plastic cover broke off awning 3) Most cheap plastic shelf clips broke with minimal weight distribution 4) Bathroom vanity top splitting 5) Trim over bed buckling horribly 6) Safety chains welded incorrectly!!! 7) One faulty/static speaker 8) Bathroom sliding pocket door broke TWICE & is now stuck/inoperable! 9) Some windows difficult to open & close 10) Bumper end caps keep falling off. Lost one drain hose. 11) Clamp on the black tank cover broke 12) Awning ripped 13) After they supposedly prepped it, noticed wood shavings, dirt, vanity top seem slightly split. My fault, I should have addressed this before leaving, but was so happy to get a camper I always dreamed of since I was a kid! Took it in before 1-year warranty expired. I was so upset they only covered a few things - trim & speaker - wooo-hoo! They were not concerned about the safety chains being welded incorrect and a liability --which I immediately brought to their attention! Walked out of their seriously contemplating hiring a lawyer. Forest River NOR Collier would replace them!!!! I was so upset and asked what did the $795 "prep & walk-through" (whatever they call it) fee covered? First time buyer, I mistakenly trusted them! How can they charge this huge prep fee and send me off with safety chains that were incorrectly welded!?? I didn't know as they were hooked up by the sales person. It's also difficult to secure and remove them and I need assistance. How much will this cost to have them removed and new ones installed? Came in for service on the way to a 1 week RV trip with my parents RV. The CO2 detector was going off every 30 seconds and we couldn't find it. We called ahead and they had us in and out in 20 minutes with a new detector. The staff was friendly and happy to work and get things done. Highly recommend Collier RV. read more

This is a nice place with a huge showroom! On Saturdays you can go explore all the RVs for sale without a sales person tagging along, but with one readily available if you need help. Everyone seemed friendly too. I could have wandered around exploring all day! But, I was there to look at one particular rig, a used 5ht Wheel. The Used 2017 Forest River RV Wildcat 29RKP. And here is where my story takes an awful turn. While I was looking, I noticed the floor of the bedroom slide had a mushy spot and that there was water pooling inside the pass through. They jumped on fixing those things, which surprised me. They also conducted their PDI and made a few more repairs. I moved forward with bringing an inspector in to give the rig a more thorough and educated look. Inspection revealed that the bottom of the living area slide was rotten, there were several areas missing sealant, trim was falling off the back side, there was a long 4" crack in the sidewall by the bedroom slide, which someone caulked over. There were so many issues that, after only a few hours of inspection the inspector reached out to me. I let my sale's person know and I was told that they would not be fixing any more issues. Did they know these problems existed while trying to sell it to me? They did a PDI, they said so - but their PDI did not find these issues? or did it and they just did not disclose them to the buyer? I was told, after I asked these questions that the PDI here is an appliance check - so if you are hoping that this dealership will check you breaks and your break lights and your slide function/alignment or missing sealant or any number of things, apparently the do not. They check the appliances. That is PDI here. Please Please Please, hire yourself an independent 3rd party inspector, no matter where you shop and no matter if it is a new or a used RV. Get someone who has your back to look for all the issues, because dealerships like this, they just want to sell you the thing. Will they tell the next person interested in this Used 2017 Forest River RV Wildcat 29RKP what my inspector found? They already told me they will not fix the issues...so they are going to sell it with all these issues. Did they know before I came along? Maybe. Do they know now - yes. The folks at Collier are great. From the moment you arrive you are greeted with a smiling face. We were getting ready to go on a trip and hade some issues that needed attention before we left. We decided to do a family trip and RV rent from Collier RV: Rockford IL to Montana. I was so nervous about this because being in one mobile home for 10 days with an 8 and 10 year old was something we had never done before. However we took the plunge and rented a Thor 28z 2016 RV and it was an amazing experience. We had been communicating with Justin would walked us through the rental experience and terms and then Matt showed us the ropes of or new home. We were also given Justin's personal cell if we had any questions and really felt he wanted us to have a great trip. Here's what's great about doing a road trip: You don't pack and unpack. You keep your stuff organized and you are literally living on wheels. I loved this and not having to check in and out of hotels. You get to see wide open spaces you don't see by air. We did South Dakota, Wyoming and Montana- amazing! You get to stay at some pretty incredible RV parks such as the KOA Mount Rushmore. Wow, this place was a dream for the kids and we thought it was well executed In the RV: You extend your living room when you are parked and you have double the space. You can cook all your meals in the RV or BBQ at the site and it feel so nice to be able to choose. You have a refrigerator with all the snacks the kids love and you can choose what you want when you want without living on junk food You have a generator! This allows the kids to watch movies and enjoy chill out time as we go sight seeing. You plug in each night and sleep with air conditioning. You also have screened Windows so when we stayed at Spring Creek we were backed into the river and listened to it as it put us to sleep. You have space for table and chairs in the under storage. You can also bring bikes and inflatables for swimming. You can raid a superstore and you can put all the food and bedding in the RV and it's not rented it's yours. We will do this again for sure and we would do it again with Collier RV. If your looking for a life changing family holiday this is it! read more

They made sure to verify that I was happy with all the repairs. Most of the repairs were minor, but they listened to my concerns and fixed them very quickly. Bought 80K+ RV last year slide out kept breaking (amongst other things) spent 20 hours in various dealerships trying to get issues fixed eventually took it back to them they said it was a design issue and could not fix it, Thor would never return our calls, had to sell it at another dealership for different product at a loss of 20k. Can't say enough positive things about my experience with Collier's in Rockford. Just purchased our second RV (5th wheel this time around) from Scotty. He helped get us a great trade-in for our travel trailer and matched us up (again) with the perfect RV for our family, with a great year-end closeout discount too. He is extremely knowledgeable and no pressure, which we respect. The service department set-us up and installed a new 5th wheel hitch in my truck the day before the scheduled pick-up. The Sales and Service team coordinated a tight timeframe window to meet our schedule and then followed up with a mobile technician the following week to replace a blown fuse in our awning controls, from the factory. This place was a waste of my time. I called and spoke to a sales representative and requested to see 2 of the class A RV's they had listed in inventory. I asked if they had them in stock. The guy said that he would go check and call me back. A few hours later he called said they had them both. I live almost 2 hours away. It was too late to come that day. I requested to come see them the next day late in the morning. He said he'd show them to us the next day no problem. I call the next morning to say I'd like to come see them and that I was 2 hours away and about to leave. He said great come on in. We get there to be walked out in the rain (no umbrella)... And he can't "find" the RV's... yet he does have another more expensive one to show us. He then starts talking about running our credit. I said," First just find the 2 RVs we came to look at and then we'll talk Credit scores. He goes talks with his sales manager for 15 minutes... Another sales gentleman offered us a homemade cookie... which was kind. Yet not enough to make up for the young rude sales guy.... The rude sales kid comes back to say the 2 RV's were sent to Another place that morning... one for a repair. What? What???? I was so frustrated. I felt it was a bait and switch. I also thought the sales kid was rude because he mocked me a few times. One time was while walking out in the cold March rain searching with him for his 2 non-existent Class A RVs. I had the courage to request an umbrella outside and not to keep looking for them after literally 7 minutes in the rain. To which He replied, "What did you expect if you're coming to look at RVs in March? It does rain ya know." I replied to this young man stating, "I expected YOU, after my phone calls to know exactly where the 2 RVs you said we're ready for me to be easily found. I will never ever purchase or recommend anything at Collier RV. The service dept was never truthful with us. We bought a new 2020 motorhome and we had 15 yes 15 repaired needed fixed and it took over a year for us to say to them enough is enough we will go to Jeff Bright. We put more miles on the motorhome taking it back to Rockford for repairs than we put on camping. Service dept doesn't communicate and we'd get different calls from different employees with different answers. Very stressful year and truly afraid to take it out in case there is something else come up. Now that all the repairs are done we are trading next year and it won't be a coachman! read more

I rented an RV for 7 days and whilst I was promised a new RV, on arrival I was shown that it had been damaged by the previous renter, not a big deal, just cosmetic, disappointing though when we paid over $5,000 for the rental The handover was efficient and we were soon on our way to Osh Kosh. On arrival we were unable to extend the leveller jacks, a quick inspection showed a hydraulic leak so I emailed them. There was no emergency number and no number way to contact anyone as it was a Sunday. Lori King replied the next day "We are going to get you fixed. An experienced service technician will be calling you see what can be done by phone. We may have to send someone on a service call. Lori" They sent a technician, very nice gentleman and he said that an 'o' ring had failed and that he did not have one with him, he was the same person that did the handover and showed us the levelling system and the importance of using it with the sides extended. He promised to get back to us with an answer, he never did. I emailed Lori King again and got the following reply: "I sent a technician out and he came back and reported that it can't be fixed until we get the hydraulic pump to the manufacturer. That model of pump is non serviceable unless it is sent back and they send another. Anyone that works on RV's will know that about the unit. From what you had said in the morning, it was leaking fluid from the jack and that is what he tried to fix. With that not being the issue, it was not able to be fixed on the sight. He also saw where you were located and the unit is level and it should not be an issue. Most units do not even have leveling jacks in them when they go out. You can drive the RV, the pump that operates the jacks has nothing to do with any other assemblies that make the unit driveable. The jacks do not go under the slide out anyway. They are only at the front and back of the unit. We put the slides out on another unit that size, and it was pretty secure. We do not put the jacks down on any of our units when I show people, and I have had 8 people walking around a unit with no issues. Lori" This is worrying on a number of levels (no pun intended) in that the handover was very detailed on the fact that you must extend the jacks before the sides are extended, there is even a sign saying that next to the switches. We are having to deal with doors that slide open, a fridge that will not stay shut and anyone that walks around the RV disturbs anyone else that is sleeping. Collier RV have many bad reviews and I stupidly ignored them before booking. A terrible experience and a ruined trip of a lifetime due to their lack of customer support Do not use this company. read more

DO NOT BUY YOUR RV HERE. The owner is dishonest in his communication and will not give you a fair price. If you purchase an RV here, be prepared to pay a lot more than what it is worth. We were former customers who purchased an RV here and wanted to trade up. The salesmen hounded us the whole time we were shopping, but when we finally found what we wanted they would not quote a fair price (we had already done our homework). The owner contacted us after finding out that we purchased the RV we wanted at another dealership for $7000 less than what we were told was Collier's "best price". He tried to get us to buy different RVs that were not what we wanted and were more expensive. Finally, when the time came for us to sell our previous RV back to Him, the owner offered us $3000 less than what we were told earlier. We asked why the price changed, and he told us that since we bought our new RV somewhere else he did not care what we did with the old one. The sales staff I Worked with was very nice, friendly. However, the service department guys, were, for the most part, condescending and ignored me as much as they could. I bought a used Thor ACE. It needed a new radio from day one, which ended up costing me upgrade and installation costs. It had no screens on half the windows. And my awning popped off., which was replaced for a deductible cost, when it was evident that it was damaged before I bought it. When I discussed these problems plus others with the "higher up" gentleman, his response was," some of these have more problems than others". I made several trips to the "shop" to repair the same things. My macerator hose still leaks, after two trips to have it fixed. I am just going to figure it out on my own. I am so glad that I am done dealing with this company! Save yourself the hassles. read more

They did a great job repairing our Fifth Wheel RV after an accident. It looks as good as new and all operates as it should. I had to get a new truck and hitch, so I installed it without the RV and it was not level for towing. They spent at least an extra hour with two techs to adjust my hitch and the pinbox. We bought a 2015 Thor Windsport and yes we did have a couple of warranty issues which Joe in the service dept was on the ball. he got us taken care of in a very timely manner. Scott was our sales guy and he was beyond awesome. We thought we wanted a class C cause we wanted the bed over the drivers seat. But we still needed enough sleep space to bring our daughters and grandson and not be too over crowed. So Scott just showed us the Windsport and we fell in love! It is the perfect size for us. Travels great the grandson loves it. He gets to sit in the "co" captains seat makes him feel so special. Just love Collier wouldn't go anywhere else. read more

My husband and I had been looking at a used travel trailer on their website and decided to stop in early afternoon last Saturday. We were directed to the back lot through the showroom. After looking at the camper we went back into the showroom hoping to speak to a sales rep about a possible purchase with a trade in. The man who finally waited on us was rude stating, "It's a busy Saturday. I can take your information and call you next week". We explained that we just wanted some numbers to consider. He wrote down our names and when we told him about our trade in he immediately replied, "If you sell that outright you might get $5000. We would only give $2500 tops". He didn't look up any information, nor did he ask any details, or even offer to have us sit down to talk. We felt pre-judged by this "salesman" and he did not treat us like valuable customers. Went to colier on a Saturday sooo excited as I had saved $ finally to fulfill my dream of purchasing a small c and going on my "final tour" lol to see all friends & family I hadn't seen in years. Well, saleswoman Teri greeted me, and I told her which rv I wanted to test drive as if I wasn't comfortable deriving it, no sense in wasting time. This place is a joke. We called to see if they are able to service our camper since the place we bought it from is no longer in business. They said they do so we set up an appointment. OVER A WEEK LATER they still had not even looked at it. What is the point of an appointment if it means nothing? When we called to inquire on a time frame for the second time (after being told the first time they didn't have time to honor our appointment because they recently have sold a lot of campers so those take priority) they lied and said it was in a bay and would be looked at in the morning. When we called at the end of the next day they again said no one has looked at it because they sold so many campers and those take priority. My husband then asked them to please pull it out of the bay so we can pick it up because we no longer trusted them to do it in a timely manner. The man said it was not in a bay and was still parked outside, confirming that we had been lied to. Needless to say when we upgrade to a new camper next year this will not be the place we buy it from. read more

I can give Collier's 1 star. Our salesperson was very good. The problems we had after the sale is what will keep us away from now on. It takes on average 3 trips to service to get a problem dealt with. The worst experience was when I had a low coolant warning light and had them look into to it. They had it 3 times and told us there were no problems. We left on a trip out east and while heading up a steep mountain road to our campground in Pa. The warning lights came on again, then the engine shutdown light came on. This was followed in 15 seconds by a shutdown of the engine. Have you ever tried to steer. 20 ton, 41' coach to the shoulder and get the air brakes set with no power and no steering. Colliers service department gave us a clean bill of health and almost killed my family with their negligence. It turns out the engine has a sensor that when the coolant level is low it will shutdown the engine to protect it just like the warning lights said. When I talked with the manufacturer he said to add some coolant, wow who would have thought, that is what was wrong. The service dept never even checked it or added coolant when I told them about the coolant light. We like the coach, but it will NEVER see Colliers again. When I spoke with the owner, we got nothing from them. Don't waste your time going there, just go across town and shop at the Winnebago Dealer. read more

On second visit, they took my information an promised to call me back or to email me. Never heard from them. They seem to have plenty of people eager to sell you new rvs, but lack in service. We purchased a travel trailer from Collier RV based on some recommendations from what we saw. I have to say that the "sale" was good. The salesman Rey instructed us, took his time and showed us around each of the trailers that fit our requirements. He did a great job. Now the service part...WHOLE DIFFERENT STORY. We are now waiting on parts that needed to be ordered. TV booster was missing, Thermostat was not working among other things. We took delivery anyway and never should have as we have now been waiting for two months. The "Service" manager, Joe, indicated that it was out of their hands and was blaming the manufacturer. I dropped off my 2005 Bounder Diesel because the LP Gas was not flowing. The problem turned out to be a corroded shutoff switch wire. They wanted to charge me 2 hours labor to run the wire underneath the RV. That is way too much for a 15 minute job. $450. I waited a day for the job to be completed. The next day they called me and they did a leak down test (without asking). They said that the hot water tank gas valve was bad. Total now $610. I waited a day for that job to be completed.The day after that, they called and said that both furnace gas values were bad. Now they wanted 4.5 hours more plus $150 each plus shipping $15 each. An additional $950. I declined. I went home and watched a youtube video. I pulled out the gas valve in 15 minutes. The new valves were $62 each on Ebay, including free shipping. I just found the book time for the job was 1 hour. I felt gouged every step of the way. Beware of this service department. read more

We were very happy with the sales process, the showing of RV's and the financing guys were great. That's where the good ended. I purchased a fifth wheel camper and needed a hitch installed which I paid the inflated price for install after I told my salesman I did not want this Andersen Hitch he sales pitched me on, I caught the technician who was a very nice gentleman installing the hitch the salesman wanted me to have and not the one I wanted, he was almost done so I reluctantly let him finish the install after my salesman stated I didn't tell him that and the hitch I wanted was now more money. There were things wrong with the camper when we looked at it and we were promised they would be fixed before we picked it up a week later and they were not fixed. I have been getting phone calls from the service guy who is very nice as well asking for pictures of damaged trim that they took off before I left with the camper. This is very frustrating as my salesman will not return multiple emails or phone calls. Once my camper is fixed or if I can ever get them to fix it I will never go back there. I drove 150 miles to give them my business. Very Frustrated here. UPDATED 08/10/2016 The owner has contacted us and we are working through the concerns. UPDATED 9/23/2016 The owner went out of his way to resolve our issues. Even sent a transport company to pick up our camper, took it back to the dealer and fixed everything and then some. Very vindictive and unprofessional. In May 2013 I wanted to buy a 2014 Redwood fifth wheel front living room. Since this unit was new and quit expensive, I decided to shop the unit at three different places. I preferred to buy by the unit locally at Collier (I live south of Rockford about 30 miles). In shopping the same specs, I received pricing at Tiara RV in Elkhart, IN at $80,507 verses $84,125 at Collier (no sales tax in either quote). I gave last look to Jim Collier who was extremely pissed off that I would want him to drop his quote. I would have bought the unit from Collier if they would have gotten close in price. Now comes mid July 2013 and I stopped into the Collier service center and asked if they would perform warrantee work on my new Redwood since Collier is an authorized Redwood service center, this would save me a trip to Elkhart, IN about 250 miles away. The service manager was glad to schedule my work knowing that the unit was not purchased at Collier. I delivered unit on July 18, and walked through the warrantee items to be done and all was well. When inside the service are Jim Collier was me and when into the service department and cancelled the warrantee service ticket. He then approached me in an unprofessional and rude manner and told me to take my warrantee work to Tiara RV in Elkhart where the unit was purchased. I would not recommend Collier RV to anyone. I gave this dealership 2 stars, when I would give the sales department 5 stars because they are very accommodating, very helpful and very honest (which is rare in sales these days). I would give the service department 0-1 star, unfortunately. We purchased a 2015 RV, love it, but have had a few problems we would like addressed...SADLY, these problems aren't covered by the warranty that we purchased, that we were guaranteed would cover everything. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!! I don't know what happened between the great review of July 2014 and now, but when your slide out isn't aligned properly and it causes the seal strip to rip, that isn't covered? The experience at Collier started out impressive with a well stocked inventory and a showroom full of friendly faces. Things quickly changed when we actually purchased our pre owned Keystone Mountaineer travel trailer. The 895.00 charge that boasts a new battery, filled tanks, full detailing, testing off all major components and a 2 hour time slot to go over all the features, etc of our new RV. The 895.00 was just a waste of money to say it kindly. The first trip out with out our camper had dust, dirt and spider webs in several areas before we even used it, the fresh water pump leaked, the toilet smelled so bad it took a few Google searches to get it tamed down and a large soft area on the kitchen floor, along with other smaller things. While doing our tour of the RV, which lasted less than an hour, I pointed out where a screw was missing from the "siding" and was therefore coming apart, the repair person quick put in a screw that attached to nothing and eventually just came out, so we needed to do the repair properly ourselves. I recently purchased a fifth wheel from these guys in September, before I bought it they were trying to sell me one that had a hole poked into the roof. They were not going to tell me about the hole, but the service guy pulled me aside and told me that they sealed a hole in the roof during the walk thru. After finding this out they tried convincing us that it would be fine. I rejected the unit and made them order us a new one. They said it would be 6 weeks for the new one. On the day it was supposed to arrive, they gave me some bullshit about they delivered the wrong one and the driver made the mistake. How the hell would he even be allowed to leave the factory with the wrong unit. The unit arrived a week late, we had a Disney vacation planned which almost got postponed. Here it is a month later and not so much as a courtesy call from these people to see if everything is good. Even a car salesman will send you a card wishing you well on your purchase. This will be the last time we buy anything from this place, this is our second rig from this place and still the same old " we got our sale" no customer service. I will not recommend anyone to this place because they just want the sale and nothing else... read more
