I've been going to comic book shops for as long as I can remember. There's two ways that they are usually presented to you. Shoppable or completely disorganized where you have to constantly ask the owner where things are or what their "system" for organization is. Collectors Choice is the latter. It's easy enough to find the newer books that you're looking for, but good luck looking for anything older than the last few months. The longboxes are completely covered up with random merchandise that has no semblance of why it's put where it is. Most of the items are also not priced or if they are priced and you try to buy one, as I did with a Hellboy figure from 10 years ago, you'll be told that it's not correct and the owner will need to look it up on Ebay to find out what scalpers are charging for it and then ask you for that amount. Honestly, that's the worst part of going to this establishment. As a collector (and it's even in their name) you go for the hunt of things on your grail list. Rare collectibles, comics, magic cards, whatever you're geeky heart is into. I've found a couple of items at this place that I've been looking for, but the owner accused me of trying to screw him over when he went online and found out that they were going for more than what he was charging. He also went as far as upcharging on new titles that were less than a week old because of Ebay scalpers. It's fine if you want to take things off your shelf and sell them online at the going rate, but if someone comes into your shop, finds something at a cheaper price; then good on them. The reason why? Because we're all collectors looking for a great deal and we shouldn't be shamed or driven away because we found one and you didn't. Say "hey buddy, good job for finding that, guess I missed it," and then go through your inventory to make sure it doesn't happen again. That's something this owner could do, if the store was even remotely shoppable to do so. I love comics and collectibles and don't want to see them fail because I want the geek world to thrive but owners like this give the geek community a bad name. Also, you can't use a credit card there; it's 2016, get with with Square or continue to doom your business more than you already are. read more
