Lovely for any situation, a quiet pint after a movie, or a night out at Christmas. Crowd is a perfect mix of old and young when it's busy, and I've been going here since I was young kid buying bacon fries and playing hide and seek in the back. Grand pint of guinness and even a few cocktails and shots. Classic Mallow pub.

Great place for a pint on a Saturday night-- they usually have very good live music, although it's a bit loud for a chat if they do! Also a great place to start a night out with friends. Very nice bartenders who are always up for a chat. I love the interior of the place, really nicely decorated and I particularly like the seats to the far right of the door, where you can have a little people watch of those going about their business in this part of town.

Her only complaint was that it had a pea purée bed under the fish and it made the bottom a little soggy. We finished with a pear tart and ice cream dessert and it was yummy as well. The bar staff are grand, not a huge selection but you'll find something. The door staff have never been tough for me to deal with but I've seen them be a bit high and mighty to others. Still, the crowd is generally alright so maybe they're just doing their jobs. There are usually a few 18-23 year olds, and then mostly people in the late thirties upwards, which leads to a strange atmosphere. Big and warm smoking area out the back, with a hatch to the bar which is handy. Bathrooms are extremely small in the place and can be dodgy and unclean-- the single standing sink in the ladies is usually covered in makeup spills and wads of wet toilet paper. There's a shelf near the door that we all throw out jackets as there's no cloakroom as such, and I've never had a jacket go missing. It's free to get in, and that's probably why we keep going back. I don't hate it, but I wouldn't go as far as to say I love it!
