I'm not a fan of Asian sweets, but there are plenty of those on the checkout counter, and some of those odd sweet/savoury mixes that seem to be so popular there. My deer-in-headlights look must've been obvious because the shop keeper came out from behind the counter and asked if he cold help. I rattled off my list of ingredients while he scoured the store and came back with everything I needed - some with multiple options! I also walked out with a solid collection of tea, enough rice to feed a small nation and some vegan ice cream. Since then, I've been back a number of times and always have a brilliant experience.

Ok, so I get that it's a discount supermarket and things like service and cleanliness take a back seat to low, low prices on everything, everyday but Aldi take it to the absolute limit. The shelves a scantly stacked in a seemingly random order, I mean, who puts baby wipes next to chocolate and tuna next to seeds and nuts? Admittedly, they have some killer bargains on some of the most random stuff and the prices are really, really good. One thing I can't recommend highly enough is the meat. I kid you not, theses steaks are the bomb, better than other supermarkets and turbo lean. If you've got a sweet tooth, you'll love the extraordinarily large range of European sweet delights. The fruit and veg is inconsistent but averages out at poor. If you want to put your groceries in a trolley, it'll cost you $2 (you get it back when you return the trolley) or you can buy a branded key chain with a little token on it to replace your $2 coin. alternatively, you can drag a basket behind you. The checkout is an experience in itself - it's like Supermarket Sweep on steroids. There's this unspoken game between you and the checkout staff as to who can scan/pack faster. I win. Overall, it's not a terrible experience, you can do 80% of your shopping here but you will still need to visit a regular supermarket. The annoying part is, being in the middle of North Sydney, what you save on groceries, you make up for in parking.

Each week they have a sale of random goods and it looks like they do not disappear if they are not sold! This time I saw a random assortment of ski gear in large containers (looked like an Aldi employee had poured in the goods then used a rake to jumble up the different things), walking frames, dishwashers etc. Amusing seeing people trawling through the jumbled assortment of goods. As for food, the quality is a lot better than what I had expected! Can find a lot of basics. Great corn chips, chips, chocolate snacks, pastries... Not so good olive oil. I clutch onto my items navigating around the store in a messy state and always forget to bring shopping bags so end up holding stuff on the street, I feel just like the store.

They have a great selection of products and pretty good specials too. At the front of the store there is a suggestions box....which they actually use! I put in a request for Vitasoy chocolate and Dr.Pepper and now they actually stock them! Another bonus is the seniors discount they offer in Tuesday's. Senior citizens make up a large part of Mosmans population so it's nice to see a Grocery store helping them out. There is also a members club card which donates a portion of the money you spend to a charity of your choosing. The staff are all helpful and friendly, if you can't find something on the shelves they will always check out the back. Look out for the guy who stocks the tissues in the first aisle, he's quite a character!

I finally found the Summer Roll candy bars that my friend's wife remembered fondly from her childhood, AND it was on sale! Yes! My friends cleared out the Milo cereal by Nestle that can also be purchased in Hong Kong. We each left with an armful of foodstuff... we were good. Plastic bags were scanned and discounted to be free, for now. This was back in July btw.

Ended up throwing away my precut lettuce/salad because it was old and spoiled. Bananas and mangos were all bruised. Broccoli was thrown into shopping bag along with milk and everything else without proper separate protective bag. Might be ok to order canned products or drinks but I won't trust Coles with fresh produces again.

I have been really surprised to find that some staff at Yeo street are extremely rude and disrespectful which seems to reflect the current management of this store. While some of the people who work there are helpful the people at the check outs are often really unpleasant. I mostly scan goods myself but last week had a few items and went to the nearest checkout. The fellow on the check out rolled his eyes and carried on as if checking out 4 items was too much. Today I encountered someone who was impossibly rude. When you self serve the machine immediately starts screeching at you to take your goods. It gives you no time to pack anything or put your wallet away. Today also the prices of a whole lot of goods had risen significantly. I will not be returning to Woolworths Neutral Bay. It appears to have too many customers. Time to use the other local supermarkets.

Also my husband has had to return milk that was off. The goods were full price and it was well before the use by date. I wonder if their refrigerators are any good? It is such a pain to have to return to the store because of inadequate storage conditions - and for a small value purchase but it's the principle.
