He was quick and…read moreprofessional in setting up the details, and kept clear communication with me in the planning stages. I think one of the most undervalued aspects of his proposal service is his advice/suggestions on how, when, and where a great proposal in Austin can happen. He even scouted out different places for me to check the conditions! After comparing his services and prices against other proposal photographers in Austin, he definitely had the best bang for your buck. The photoshoot itself was great. Justin was waiting for us and captured the special moment, and the mini photo-shoot after the proposal turned out really well! What blew me away was that he offered to drive to a completely different location, 15 minutes away, to continue our "mini-photoshoot" at another scenic spot! He was so flexible and willing to go the extra mile for us...all without increasing the price! Plus, Justin is just a friendly person, so it was great getting to know him and work with him. I would highly recommend Max Photography to anyone looking for proposal, engagement or wedding photographers! Thanks again, Justin!

With a newborn and a husband back at work, Debra worked with our schedule to get us into her amazing studio. I think "amazing studio" is an understatement. She has transformed her home into a place where magic happens. As an art major myself, the numerous backdrops, floors, lighting options, and props galore made me want to spend the day there just looking at everything! Speaking of, we actually DID spend the day there. Our little girl might not have been the most cooperative but Debra has been called the "baby whisperer" for good reason! It took my husband and I by surprise to see Debra work her baby magic since we have been dealing with an ongoing fussy period for weeks now. And, while it took a good handful of hours to get the perfect pics, it was worth every second. I couldn't help feeling giddy as we watched Debra gently position her in adorable baskets under huge studio lights, wrapped into the most angelic moments. Debra calmed all anxieties that I had going into a newborn photo shoot, and honestly, fears that most new parents would have. I wish I had found Debra earlier and made my decision to get these done when our little girl was just days old but am so glad that she worked with us even though Esther was starting not to be itty bitty anymore! Debra's generosity, flexibility and patience will for sure bring us back for future photo opportunities. Thank you, Debra, for helping us create these memorable keepsakes! They will be forever treasured.

Annie Ray can make anybody look cool…read more Her "photobooth" photography style is edgy and fun, in no small part because of her incredibly likeable personality and the way she eggs on her subjects like some kind of totally cliche French photographer ("Give me more! Give me more!"). Yet her subjects catch her enthusiasm and channel their inner goofball/badass/child/whatever, striking ridiculous poses, making faces they would never otherwise make in public, even taping gross, who-knows-where-this-has-been fake moustaches under their noses to help them get into character. Yet somehow, magically, everyone looks hip and cool and funky and lively in the end product. Or maybe everyone looks totally dorky and ridiculous, but it doesn't matter, because all your friends look that way in their shots, too. Annie Ray is some kind of photographic genius. Everybody wants some of what she's got. Fortunately, she's happy to share. P.S. The photo posted above is NOT one of Annie Ray's shots. It's a shot I took of Annie Ray while obnoxiously exclaiming, "Give me more!" --- EDIT, January 2012: The photo I posted with this listing was removed by Yelp because it allegedly violated the Content Guidelines. When I inquired as to how it violated the Content Guidelines, I was told that I was supposed to "avoid uploading close-ups of other people." Uh...every single photo for this listing includes a close-up of other people. Yelp, if you're going to remove my content from your site - which, by the way, I have donated to you for free and you have made money from - it might be nice if you gave me the honor of providing me with a reasonable explanation for why it was removed. Just a suggestion.

Well, partially it's to have a physical memory of the event and the friends we love. But mostly it's cause an Annie Ray photo shoot is like a ride at Six Flags. It's a "weeeeeee" kinda fun where you can be as adventurous and loud and silly as you dare. When the ride is over, most folks get right back in line again. And just like a rollercoaster ride, you can end up with a crazy pic of your adventure. But Annie Ray specifically as a photographer is a joy. She's ebullient, effervescent, energetic, and encouraging which is great when you are working with stoic camera shy boys like my hubby and bff. And she makes ME look good even tho I normally take horrible pictures. I can never get my face to act right (in fact, no telling how many of the 20 or so that she takes she pitches to only post a few on her site....). And she remembers people. Having worked many a Yelp party and working with countless faces, I am amazed that she remembers my name and when she met hubby last event, she was so excited and demanded we take more pictures of just us, encouraging him "Randy love Keri! Loooove her!"...which of course hubby took to mean "Stick your tongue in her ear!!". I always look forward to an Annie Ray photobooth. She is an Annie Ray of Sunshine!

She has an unfazed sort of vibe about her. She's also really funny which, as we all know, helps during any potentially awkward moment. She told me all the little details about how to pose so that my face and hands and everything didn't look stupid (you know how sometimes you see photos and the people are fumbling with what to do with their hands or feet or what direction to look? I need more direction than that and she is really good at that)! Aubrey figured out what angles and lighting looked best and she was so encouraging the whole time. I had a mix of photos of me looking at the camera, looking away, smiling, not smiling, etc., some looked candid, others didn't. Perfect mix. Also she would tell me how amazing the photos were looking while she was shooting and even showed me some on the little camera screen. I have never felt like such a rock star. Then, after editing, she sent me a giant load of absolutely incredible photos. I don't know if she just did everything right as far as angles and lighting, or if she did a lot of editing work in the "lab" but either way she made me look really good in my photos, better than I could have imagined going into it. I sincerely recommend Aubrey for boudoir or any type of photos!!!

I loved the fact that the photos were artsy/colorful and not just the typical portraits. But what really sealed the deal was when we talked to Josh over Skype. He definitely followed through - we had an almost 10hr engagement session followed by another the next day!! How many photographers can you say would be ok with that?
